Chapter 17 This Hazel with green eyes
Hazel trembled as she rushed toward Dona, whose hand was still stained with blood.
Her pulse quickened from fear, and from confusion.
After experiencing the death of Kael's parents, Hazel was not sure she was ready to see someone close to her die again just yet and seeing Dona like this just took her back to all the times they shared together.
“Dona, look at me…”
Hazel said softly, trying to steady her friend.
Dona’s skin suddenly looked pale, almost translucent. The veins under her skin looked like something alive was moving inside them.
“I’m fine”.
Dona whispered, forcing a weak smile. “It’s… it’s nothing.”
Hazel immediately countered.
“That’s not nothing Dona! You’re bleeding from your mouth. That’s not normal”.
They were still speaking when the door suddenly opened and both Kael and Miguel walked in.
Miguel immediately locked eyes with Dona but shifted his gaze as quickly as the landed. Dona didn't pay much attention to it as she didn't even know the man and he has always looked cold anyways.
“What's going on”?
Kael asked but as soon as he did that, Dona collapsed to the floor.
Hazel rushed toward her.
“Dona! Dona, wake up”!
Hazel quickly looked at Kael and spoke.
“We need to help her”!
She said and Kael turned to Miguel.
“Take her to the healer”.
He said and Miguel carried her. As soon as he touched her, he closed his eyes for a few seconds before walking out of the room.
Kael moved close to Hazel and asked.
“Are you okay”?
But Hazel shook her head.
“I'm not okay”.
She said and turned to Kael.
“I've been blaming her for every little thing, not knowing that she was going through something herself”.
Kael moved closer and spoke.
“Don't beat yourself about it too much, we don't even know what exactly is wrong with her yet. Let's wait for the healer to give us a proper report”.
He said and she finally nodded.
Miguel had arrived at the healers place and while he was attending to Dona, Miguel kept looking at her.
From the very first time he saw her, he could already feel their mate bond but he ignored it.
He knew she couldn't feel it because she was a witch so it made it easier for him to pretend like nothing was there.
The mate pull was strong, stronger than anything he has ever felt in his life. Never did he even believe he could be so pulled to anyone in his life but he resisted every urge to get close to her.
He couldn't bring himself to even look at her as his heart already belongs to another.
But the feeling got worse today. Seeing her lying on the floor made his heart ache and as soon as he touched her, the sensation intensified and his wolf was dying to mark her right there and then.
He watched as the healer examined her but shortly after, he just walked out, not wanting to see her any more.
As soon as he got out, Hazel and Kael arrived.
Hazel rushed to him and asked.
“How is she? Is she seriously hurt”?
She asked and Miguel looked at her, his expression empty but his head confused.
“Miguel”?
Kael called, drawing him back to reality.
“Where is she”?
He asked and Miguel simply pointed inside before Hazel dashed in.
Kael moved closer to Miguel and asked.
“Are you okay”?
He asked and Miguel simply nodded, saying nothing before he bowed lightly and walked away.
Kael turned to him and sighed.
He wasn't dumb, he knew Miguel's feelings towards Hazel but he had been silent about it as Miguel had never actually said it out loud but it was beginning to bother him now.
Is it because Hazel doesn't really like him anymore, or is it because there is now an opening for Miguel to enter? Kael wasn't sure what his insecurity was about but he couldn't deny that he was indeed worried now.
After a few hours, Dona finally woke up. She was calm, almost as if she just fell asleep.
“Where am I"?
She said calmly, drawing Hazel's attention.
“Dona, you're finally awake”.
She said and helped her up.
“What happened”?
Dona asked and Hazel sighed.
“I should be asking you that, you gave us all a scare”.
She said and Dona looked at her confused.
“What are you talking about? I thought we were having an argument a few minutes ago”?
She said causing Hazel to look at her a bit confused.
“You don't remember coughing out blood and passing out”?
She asked and Dona went silent.
“I do remember coughing but I thought I took my bag and left”.
She said. Hazel was shocked at how her memory suddenly altered but she had no words to say.
Kael and Miguel soon came in and Dona looked at Miguel, swallowing at how cold he looked before looking away.
The healer also walked in shortly after, causing them all to look at him.
“What is wrong with her”?
Hazel asked and the healer turned to Dona.
“Have you felt anything weird happening around you lately”?
He asked and Dona turned to Hazel who was also looking at her before turning back to the healer and shaking her head.
“I'm not sure”.
She said and he nodded.
“I'm a healer, I can't be sure of what is wrong unless you give me more information. You're fine now, but you'll need to come back again for further examination”.
He said and she nodded.
He then turned to Hazel and spoke.
“While healing her, I saw you in my head quite often but you had green eyes. I'm not sure what that means, but I think you should be very careful”.
He said and Hazel sighed heavily before she nodded and he excused himself.
Hazel turned to Kael and spoke.
“She's really beginning to piss me off”.
She said and suddenly they heard Dona
speak.
“I think I know how to get an upper hand against her”.
She said, making everyone turn back to her.
“I think you need to get married… immediately”.
