Lacey POV

“My lady, the guards you sent to spy on the Alpha is here.”Andrea announced, her voice trembling as she stared at me waiting for my response .

I sat before the mahogany dressing table admiring my reflection, the way my blonde curls framed my face, the way the turquoise dress revealed my cleavage and snatched my waist, I looked like the perfect Luna, and if Henry was too blind to see it, I’d teach him how to treat me right.

With a smirk playing on my lips, I grinned, “Nice to hear that Andrea.”

“So…. Do I let him in?”

“What are you waiting for ?”I asked, looking up at her, my eyes filled with disgust and patience.
Andrea was a smart girl but she always asked stupid questions.

“Of course, my lady,” she bowed curtly, scurrying away and I let out a deep breath still staring at my reflection , noticing every shade of eye shadow I applied, that’s when the door screeched open.

I stared at the ground and saw muddy, dirty boots stride into the room. The man who entered was built like a giant, with a broad chest, tall as a tree, and a face hard as metal.
He was one of the best warriors we had, immediately he sighted me he went on his knees ,a smile played on my lips again as I observed him softly.
Not only was he humble and faithful he was also handsome, I scoffed, my type.

These days I’ve realized I’ve found myself getting attracted to hot men in the palace. Well, would you blame a wife who has been starved by her husband?
“Good day, my lady, I bring news.” He said, still kneeling.
I turned , folding one leg elegantly over the other giving him my full attention.
“Please get up , Sir Edward!”
He got up on his feet, “My lady, I did as you commanded, I followed him to the Blueblood’s pack and I know everything they discussed even if I’m prohibited from talking about it.”
“Will you spill or will you waste your queen's time?” I snarled.
“I’m sorry my queen.” He apologized but I wasn’t interested in that. I just needed information,after all that’s why I asked him to keep an eye on everything that went down at the meeting.
“At the meeting, Alpha Cain confessed that he wouldn’t be able to fulfill his end of the bargain by sending two ten thousand men instead he will give out two thousand of your best soldiers, but Princess Laura….. I mean Chloe of the Blue Blood pack wasn’t satisfied.”
I sat up with my teeth clenched in anger ,that name, that damn name always had to come up. My fingers tapped against the wooden armrest impatiently , “continue.”
“She tried to convince her people that he was playing games, and that this must be a trap, to usurp them, she spoke down on Alpha Henry but….”
“That’s enough!” I bawled, and he kept quiet immediately. I couldn’t stand hearing another episode where Chloe Blueblood disgraces the alpha of the Sanders Kingdom. Instead, I let a slow smile creep onto my face,”I suppose the meeting went well, where is my husband? Is he out there fighting like a saint?”
The guard looked at me with sadness on his face. “Alpha Cain postponed the battle, the storm wouldn’t let us face the witches tonight, it’s raining heavily.”

“Or maybe they are just too scared to face the witches.” I chipped in my mind. I secretly thanked the moon goddess for intervening, that way we won’t lose two thousand of our best men for their cause.
He didn’t say anything, he just bowed his head waiting for my orders.
“You’ve done well, Sir Edward, you may leave now!” I purred, leaning back against the chair.
“Yes my lady,” he bowed again before taking quick strides towards the exit. As soon as the door clicked behind him I fell to my knees clasping my hands together in a prayer gesture, exhaled, and almost laughed. “Oh…. Moon goddess this is amazing, thank you for still listening and guiding me.”

I stride into the room, my gown flapping behind me, and I saw Henry slumped on the great iron throne, he looked disappointed. I swallowed hard as I approached him.
“My husband,”I purred, "How did the meeting go? And why are you back so soon?”

His gaze rested on me but they were cold and void of warmth, as if I were some stranger he had married. “Fine.”

Just fine?Of course, I knew not to press further, I was used to his arrogance and nonchalant attitude, and I tilted my head backward smiling with false affection. “Did you speak to Laura?”
“Sure!”

“Oh! How is she doing?” I asked.

“She’s well,” he said rising to his feet walking past me.
I held his arm, “Wait, before you leave we need to talk!”
“About?”
“Eloise, you haven’t had time to bond with her, she’s either with the maids or with me, that’s not fair to her, she needs her father.”
He rolled his eyes, “That’s why you are her mother, isn’t it? You are here doing nothing while I’m out there trying to make the pack better.”

He jerked out of my grip and walked past me like I meant nothing to him. I choked back the tears that threatened to spill as I leaned against the pillar feeling weak all of a sudden.
How long, how long would he continue avoiding Eloise and me like we are plagues?
He seems more interested in helping enemies than helping his own family!
I just stood there in the silence while he disappeared into the shadows as usual straight to the guest room.
I breathe in and out slowly trying to steady my emotions.
“It will be fine, Lacey, it will be fine.”

Just immediately Andrea walked in, “My Queen, someone is asking about you.”

I cleaned the tears that stained my face quickly then I turned to face her smiling, “Who?”
“Theodore.”
Instantly my smile faded, replaced with a hardened frown.

I flanked behind Andrea as she guided me down the secret tunnel with a dull torch that was the only safe place I could speak to him without being caught by the guards.
“You can leave now,” I told Andrea and she nodded before retreating.

As soon as she was gone, he stepped out of the bush, he looked clean and handsome as ever, something inside of me ignited with passion.
“Hey,” I whispered.
“Hey!” He said to Smith, looking at me, standing tall , hair wet from the rain. His huge sword shimmered at his hip.
Our eyes were locked for a few seconds and we just gazed at each other like it was our first meeting.
“Why are you here?” I asked. “We could both get into trouble…”

“I don’t care…”he cut me off moving forward. “I can’t wait, I want to have you, so I’m ready,”
“Ready for?”

“I’m ready to end Chloe Blueblood, in fact, I’d begun, I went down to her kingdom and attacked her with an arrow.”
My heart quickened with excitement at this news. “Is she dead?”
“No, I missed.”
My lips curled in dissatisfaction, “You need to leave, you can’t be here, and I don’t see you with her head, so why are you here?”
“I need time.”
“No, back off, my husband will work on it.”
An evil chuckle rolled off his lips. “Alpha Henry is weak, he’s never able to kill her, she’s his mate, and he is obsessed with her, that’s why your spirit calls out for me because he starves you.”
I swallowed hard, anger boiling inside of me. “You are wrong, everything he does is for his pack and for me, he’d kill her when he has to and that time is soon.”

He looked me straight in the eye, “He would never do that, Lacey, and you know that.”
“You don't understand, I need to trust my husband, Henry is trying to seal a deal, win the enemy's trust, then, I will attack !”
“He won’t!” He snarled.

“Don’t you trust me?”

“Of course I do, it’s him I don’t trust.”
We were so close that our noses almost touched, he bent, whispering in my ears, It made my inner thigh go moist instantly, “ I can’t leave without having a taste of you, I rode all night, just to get to you, I’m obsessed.”
“No… we can’t.”
“Why? No one would ever find us here.”
“I’m the queen, I should be with my child and husband, please leave,” I said, stepping back but he grabbed my hands.

“Then let us go somewhere secured, like your chambers, or the stable, anywhere , I just want to fuck you so hard and give you another child.”

I slapped him hard across the face. “Stop it!”

He didn’t retreat, instead, he grabbed my waist, “Slap me again Lacey, you drive me insane, you think you can seduce me like this and walk away?”
I begged and cried for him to let me go but he said I didn’t have a choice.
“If I can’t have you, no one will, I won’t let you fuck the Alpha!”

I smiled, grabbed the dagger hidden in my sleeve, and stabbed him in the chest.
He gasped, staggering back as blood oozed out of his chest and mouth . I watched in dismay.

“Lacey….”

“Don’t you dare, mess with me.”
