Chapter 41
Desire was surprised at her master’s response. How could he just remove himself as the Prime Minister just like that?
“My lord, why do you want to do such a thing?” Desire asked after the messenger left.
“It’s time to relieve myself of that duty, Desire. I’ve hold on for too long and I think it’s time to not put myself way below him and take care of myself and make him regret everything he had done”
Desire was amazed that Sylvester would open up to her that way.
“Maybe you should let it go, I mean the past, so you can heal and move on” Desire advised.
“If I don’t think that much about murdering him in cold blood each and every day, I’ll say I’ve moved on, but I need to relieve myself of this post, that way I’ll get the respect that I deserve.”
“When will you travel to the palace?” Desire asked
“Tomorrow morning and I want you to come with me”
Desire wanted to agree with his suggestion. The joy of seeing Kim Chui and Queen Naomi was great and she really looked forward to it but she couldn’t imagine leaving the mansion anymore.
“I don’t think I should go with you, my lord. It’ll be too dangerous and I know you’ll want to protect me with everything, it wouldn’t be fair to risk your life for me” Desire replied
“Then, I’ll leave Ying here with you”
“No, you should take him with you. You both are brothers and you need to stay with each other. Also, watch each other’s back and protect one another” Desire advised and Sylvester nodded, agreeing with her words.
“Promise me you’ll come back safely and promise not to stay for too long”
He hugged her closer to his body and promised her he’ll be back before it gets too long.
“Promise me you’ll be fine as well,” Sylvester said, trying not to think of anything negative.
“I will be fine, my lord”
Later on that night, Sylvester held on to his little dove, trying to inhale her scent and hold on to her for a little bit longer, trying not to miss her too much.
The following morning, Sylvester was ready to leave the house with Ying and ten other soldiers, leaving both the house and Desire in charge of the court lady.
“You mean I have the right over everything, my lord, including the unwanted visitor who has refused to leave” The court lady asked, referring to Ying. Sylvester smiled and told her she had the right over everything, she could remove and she could accept.
He walked over to Desire whose eyes were glistening with tears, she looked at the ground trying not to see him leave.
He hugged her tight and whispered into her ear, “Loving is when you hate to see me leave” He said replying to the question she had asked the other night.
Desire looked up at him and smiled, nodding, telling herself that she loved her master more than anything in the world.
“Do not fight him, no matter what he does or say, just do what you want to do and come back to me”
“I will, Dove” He kissed her softly and waved goodbye. He knew her request wouldn’t be possible but he had to make that promise just so she wouldn’t get too worried about him.
Desire walked into the kitchen after waiting for him to leave her sight of vision to meet with the others and prepare breakfast for everyone else, since their master was not around.
“Desire, you’re here” Both Chang and Cassandra walked into the kitchen with smiles on their faces.
“Chang! Cassandra! What are you doing here?” Desire asked with excitement, she was happy to see her friend.
“We want to show you something,” Chang replied.
“What is that?”
“It’s a surprise, do not fret. Where’s Fei?” Cassandra asked about her archenemy.
Fei has been indoors after her poor heartbreak, she had been sleeping and eating and kept on telling the rest that she can’t do anything again other than just die. Desire had laughed in her face while Lady Nor yelled at her to move on with her life and forget about the stupid guy who doesn’t see her worth. Desire hugged her when she suddenly started crying and later left the room when she fell asleep.
“Fei will be fine. I can’t go out with you two, you know I need to make breakfast” Desire denied their request, surprising her.
“You should go with them, Desire. You need it”
Lady Nor advised, knowing that Desire might become withdrawn after Sylvester left. She went on to push Desire out of the kitchen with the others, telling them to have all the fun they needed.
Once Desire stepped out of the front door of the mansion, Chang blindfolded and led her by the hand to the surprise that was waiting for that.
Desire smiled on the way, excited about what was happening and kept on asking when they’ll finally get to the surprise.
By the time the blindfold was removed and Desire opened her eyes to light, Desire was amazed at what was in front of her. Cassandra had planted a lot of flowers and arranged them in Desire’s name.
“I thought you’ll love it, Desire” Cassandra hugged her.
“I do love it, Cassandra, thank you,” Desire gushed and kept on looking at the flowers.
The flowers were of different colors, trimmed to be of the same height and it was arranged properly. Desire knew Cassandra couldn’t do that on her own, Chang would have helped her too.
“Since when did you start this, Sandra?”
“The first time I was assigned here. Since I couldn’t find you anywhere in the mansion, I decided to do this so it’ll remind me of the woman who didn’t let me feel alone in the dungeon. You’re an angel, Desire. Chang helped me with it not even knowing who you were”
Desire was moved to tears. She quickly hugged Cassandra tight and looked at Chang appreciatively. She was glad that these two were there for her as well and she felt better since Sylvester left.
The three musketeers stayed in the garden later on to talk about life, their region and how long they’ll have to spend in the mansion. Both Chang and Cassandra were careful not to mention Sylvester's name so Desire wouldn’t miss him the more.
By the time Desire returned to the kitchen, she felt better and much more happy.
“I’ve been waiting all day for you, slut.” Fang spat out as Desire walked into the kitchen.
Desire ignored her and went to stand far away from her, close to Lady Nor.
“You didn’t wait for Sylvester to leave before tagging onto another man. I saw you in the garden, kissing that boy”
“I did not kiss any boy, my lady. With due respect, I’ll say you saw wrong” Desire replied politely.
“You do not deserve to be here, you do not deserve to be right by his side. I will make sure I chase you out of this house before he returns, you good for nothing, prostitute” Fang yelled at her, moved closer to hit Desire.
The court lady walked in and stood in front of Lady Fang.
“I don’t care if you have a mission of sending the poor girl out of this house but my lady, please leave my kitchen as that is my own personal mission and I will not repeat myself or else I’ll have the guards remove you out of here”
The court lady threatened and embarrassingly, she walked out of the kitchen, making Desire feel triumphant for once.
