Chapter 87 What Are We?
Chapter 87 What Are We?
Alezandra's P.O.V
The sheets barely covered my ass as I was pressed against Andrea's naked chest. I found myself glancing down at the engagement ring on my finger, my thoughts racing a mile a minute.
My eyes found Andrea's face. He’d been lying there with his eyes closed, but he was still awake. I could tell.
And before I could stop myself, the words had already left my mouth.
"I can't help but think that you're engaged to me while you're still married to her." I pursed my lips in thought.
"Cazzo," Andrea cursed lowly. The hand that wasn't wrapped around my waist moved to wipe over his face before pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I'm sorry, stellina. I just couldn't wait. I've had that ring for a while, it was boring a hole in my office drawer."
I frowned.
"Wait, how long have you had it?"
"Since the night you told Jaxon and I you would never choose between us." He paused briefly, exhaling.
"The night everything changed."
I went quiet for a moment, my expression tightening as I processed his words.
"Of course you’d remember it like that," I muttered under my breath, shifting away slightly.
I moved to roll onto the other side of the bed.
I stood, letting the sheet fall, and I froze for a second in the quiet between us. Andrea didn’t move. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked toward the bathroom.
And I didn’t look back.
I stepped into the bathroom and turned on the shower, the steam building quickly against the glass. I didn’t even have time to fully gather myself before I felt Andrea's presence behind me.
He entered the shower with me, the heat swallowing us whole as the water poured down between us. His hands found my waist almost instantly, firmly pulling me back into him. His body pressed against mine‐tall and solid, almost overwhelming in the way I had always known him to be. Andrea was a beast of a man, yet so gentle with me when he needed to be.
He bent slightly, just enough to meet me at my level, pressing his lips to the side of my neck and lingering there, just above my jugular. I shivered even though the water was steaming hot.
"I love you." His hands slid softly, resting over the small, noticeable bump there.
When I didn’t answer his hands fell away and he stepped back.
My chest tightened slightly, but I didn’t say anything. Instead, I watched him reach for the soap, the tension easing into something quieter between us.
We showered in silence after that.
He washed me carefully, slowly, like I was something he had to memorize with his hands.
Every so often, he’d murmur something under his breath‐ compliments I didn’t expect, words about how beautiful I was, how lucky he was, how he couldn’t wait for the life he kept talking about building with me.
A future I wasn’t sure I fully understood, but one he spoke about like it was already written.
When I finished, I stepped slightly out from under the spray so he could take his turn.
And I watched him shamelessly without thinking much of how i was gaping...
His presence filled the space even under the water, the lines of his body moving with ease as he rinsed himself off. I didn’t realize I was staring intently until his brow lifted slightly.
That was when it hit me‐ my mouth had fallen slightly open.
I snapped it shut quickly, my teeth clicking together, and the sound made him chuckle.
"Christo santo, you drive me fucking nuts, piccola monella." Andrea shook his head, amusement still lingering in his voice.
The water finally shut off, leaving the bathroom wrapped in thick steam and quiet, and for a moment, neither of us moved.
Andrea stepped out first, dragging a towel over his hair before running it down his chest, seemingly unbothered by me still gaping at his nakedness. He moved like he owned every inch of space he stood in, like nothing in the world mattered more than these little shared moments.
I wrapped myself in a towel and leaned against the counter, watching him through the fogged mirror as he got dressed. Shirt first, his buttons sliding into place with steady hands. Then his trousers, the fabric settling low on his hips before he adjusted them with a quiet exhale.
He caught my eyes in the mirror.
“Stop staring,” he said, but there was no real bite to it
“I’m not staring,” I lied immediately, shifting my gaze away.
A low chuckle left him.
“You always lie badly when you’re flustered, babygirl.”
I rolled my eyes, tightening my towel as I stepped out of the bathroom and into the bedroom. The cold air hit my skin instantly, making me move faster as I crossed to the bed where my clothes had been laid out.
Andrea had already placed them there without saying a word.
Of course he did.
I slipped into my underwear first, then the dress, the fabric gliding over my skin as I smoothed it down. Behind me, I could hear him adjusting his watch, the soft click of metal as he secured it.
There was something grounding about the sound, everything about him felt so... familiar.
“You’re quiet,” I spoke after a moment of silence, glancing at Andrea through the mirror as I fixed my hair.
“And you’re talking too much,” he replied simply.
I huffed a small laugh, shaking my head.
He stepped closer then, stopping just behind me. Not touching, just close enough that I could feel the heat of him at my back. His hands hovered for a second before he reached out, adjusting the strap of my dress with carefully, his touch was almost taunting.
“You’re still thinking about it,” Came Andrea's voice.
“I’m always thinking.” I retorted.
“That’s the problem,” he murmured.
I turned slightly, meeting his eyes.
“And what’s your solution?”
He didn’t answer right away‐ just looked at me like he always did when he was deciding how much truth to give me.
Then he exhaled softly.
“Come on,” he said instead.
“We’re leaving.”
