Chapter 66 CHAPTER 66

Chapter 66 CHAPTER 66
We filed into Michael's car, and Fabian gave him the address.

Naomi sat with her boyfriend at the front and we sat behind

"Sera!" Tori's panicked voice came to my head, "Where are you going?!"

"On a date with my human mate. What's wrong with that?"

"Does Mum know about this?"

"I don't know, I expected you to have ratted me out by now but please, I just want to have a normal day for once."

I expected more resistance but I watched through the window as she deflated, rubbing her temples.

"Fine. But don't lose your guards and please for all that's pure and holy, keep your phone on! Send me your location too!"

"Thank you so much," I replied, relieved that I didn't have to bulldoze my way through this.

My hand was lifted from my lap to his and I looked up.

"Are you alright?" Fabian asked, kissing and smelling my hand.

His eyes closed and for a second, he seemed lost to the world.

If I didn't know any better, I'd have said he was a wolf like me, enjoying the blessing of a mate's scent.

"I'm good now. My cousin was worried."

"I know how that feels. You can't decide if it's protection or imprisonment."

"Right?? I also can't figure out if she's really good to me now or if this is some game."

"I wouldn't trust her completely," Naomi said from the front. "The switch is too sudden and Annabelle is still whispering in her ear every chance she gets."

"It's about the family as a whole. There's a lot of pressure on everyone so I'm thinking she's finally understood what's at stake and put us above her personal qualms. Fabian, where are we going? I can't leave Nashville."

"We're not leaving, it's right at the entrance. It's a new resort, I know the owner."

I nodded, and soon we arrived.

He made me sit tight so he could open the car door for me, giving me that romantic feeling I usually get from movies.

I will take every opportunity I can get to enjoy today because who knows when next I can have a normal day?

Friday will come and I'll be at the Council headquarters. I have no idea what it's going to be about but Aunt Kelly's reaction made me feel like something was incredibly wrong.

So for now, I'll soak in every chance to feel normal.

Have a hot as hell, teacher boyfriend.

Yes, I know that's not normal and neither does how he makes me feel but what if that's my new normal? Doing things that humans won't agree to but for wolves, it's absolutely normal?

Naomi's boyfriend still sent us confused looks as we walked in until she smacked his shoulder cause he was being obvious.

"I wouldn't blame him, I would be confused too," I smiled.

"Trust me, I would never judge you. Sorry babe but the man is like a Greek god and he looks at her like she hung the sun. What's rules gotta do for you when you have that?"

"I guess it makes sense. I just hope he doesn't leave her. Students can be cruel."

That warning hung with me for the rest of the evening.

When we got in, there was a weird moment where the servers were about to bow to him but stopped.

Maybe he looks like somebody they knew

Another thing I noticed was the abundance of vampires in this place.

Instinct told me to take a U-turn and leave but what would I tell everyone?

Naomi didn't even know what I spent the last month doing, she didn't understand how deep the decay between the wolves and vampires ran.

So I swallowed my reservation and went in.

It might just be a normal evening without any drama so I won't react until I need to.

Eyes shifted from him to me and I drew closer to Naomi because I knew they were definitely thinking about how to have her for dinner

Gosh, am I stupid for letting my very human friends sit in a vampire bar?

But then there were several other humans around, and they didn't have any sign of draining on them.

They weren't fed from so maybe this was just a normal resort with vampires managing it.

"Here we are," Fabian said, bringing us to a floating hut on the large pool that covered the space of three large houses.

There was a path linking all the floating huts together and we settled into the first one.

Inside were video games, another TV, tables and basically things to keep visitors busy.

"Wow, this place looks really cool. Can we swim?" Naomi asked.

"Have fun," he told her and she ran off to the changing room with an equally excited Michael.

My eyes were on him as we walked in so I didn't notice I'd walked off the rail.

Not until I was falling straight into the water.

I was about three inches from plunging in, arms flailing and looking for something to hold when I was suddenly hoisted up like I weighed nothing.

I don't weigh nothing, I've been lifting weights for a long time since I started this wolf journey and having Sabrina inside made me sort of heavier.

Even though Fabian looked like he worked out every day, he shouldn't have been able to lift me up that fast without any sweat.

"You really want to swim, huh?" He chuckled, still carrying me.

"Or the water is desperate to have me. Thanks for catching me," I replied, breathless.

"I'll always catch you, you can trust me on that. What would you like to eat?"

"I trust your palate. You have as much of a sweet tooth as me."

He laughed before using the phone and placing our order.

And then he joined me on the couch.

But not before taking off his shirt.

"I didn't know you had tattoos," I gasped, looking at his chest with the eyes of a tiger beautifully drawn on the right side.

"I was curious at one point in my life. Do you like it?"

"I love it. It just makes me realise how little I know about you."

"Okay, let me see... I grew up in Russia but I stay in England now. I have a brother. My mum is dead but my father is... Let's say he's in prison. Hmm... What else is capable of making you run from me?"

"Why are you teaching when I know you're filthy rich?"

"Okay, let's not stretch it. I have a couple of companies here and there but I'm teaching here where nobody knows me because I'm bored."

Laughter bubbled out of my throat.

"What? After rising from the bottom, there's very little else to do if you don't have eccentric tastes or involve yourself in hurting people or your own body. So I take on side quests."

"Like the tattoo?"

"Exactly."

"Then we have so much to talk about because I want to hear all about your escapades."

"And you will but baby girl, you've wet your lips about three times now. It's messing with my head."

"Everything I do is always messing with you," I grinned.

"I'm a man in love. Don't blame me."

"In love? Isn't that too fast?"

"I've never been surer about anything in my entire life. I love you Sera and I'm sorry if it's overwhelming right now but that's how I feel."

And the crazy part is that I feel the same way.

This is probably the perfect time to tell him about being a werewolf but something held me back.

Maybe it's selfishness, I didn't want to share him with this other life that's so dramatic and consuming.

I wanted him to be my secret for as long as possible.

Maybe when Aunt Kelly finds out, I'll be forced to tell him.

But for now, his lips were taunting me and his eyes had me in a trance.

I kissed him, and sparks erupted everywhere, alongside a potent scent of vampire.
