Chapter 71 Anger

Chapter 71 Anger
Dravik's pov
I let go of Auren's hair immediately and gently move her onto the bed and get out of it.
I need to go for a run to calm Shadow the fuck down. Thankfully, the pack hunt is coming up soon and we can kill something before he goes on a rampage.

I think we should talk to Xavier again. Ask him about the city Shadow growls as I grab a pair of shorts.

What will he know? He wasn’t there

No. but maybe he can give us a better understanding of what they might be planning now. Or maybe he will at least be able to predict Marcus’s plan

Makes sense.

I slip out of the room and walk through the house out into the falling snow. The cold beneath my bare feet offers some relief to the constant warmth of my body. Approaching the dungeon I see a guard leaning against the wall, looking bored out of his mind.

“Any problems with the prisoner?”

“No, Alpha. Doesn't talk to anyone,” the guard says, opening the door and stepping aside to let me through.

He closes the door behind me as soon as I turn on the lights.

“Seriously. It’s the middle of the night. Can I have some fucking peace and quiet,” Xavier mumbles from inside his cell as he lays on the bed. He probably catches my scent because he turns around with his eyes wide. “Alpha Dravik. So sorry about that.” He stands moving towards the bars. “I’m not the greatest when I haven’t gotten a good sleep. Twice in one day though? This must be serious. What can I do for you?”

“Why would Marcus go into the city?” I ask.

He pauses midstretch. “I’m not following.”

“They have kept themselves hidden away from other packs. None of us knew your kind existed and now they’re going to neutral territories? Why would they do that?”

“I’m guessing for the same reason everyone else goes there. Looking for something or someone. Did something happen?” When I didn’t say anything, his eyes narrows on me. “Wait…..did Auren have a run in with then?”

“Brandon got her away in time.”

He grins. “The hero. I knew he was a good man.”

“He’s not interested in men,” I say again.

He cocks his head. “Are you sure? Cause your bestie comes down here a lot. I believe he’s having relationship issues.”

I freeze. “Why is Brandon talking to you about his fiancee?

“Ex fiancee. And I think he’s just searching for a third opinion. Everyone needs a listening ear. And you don’t strike me as an emotional man whom he can talk to about these things. Have you even asked him how he’s been doing?”

I say nothing, because I haven’t. Maybe I have been neglectful of my friend lately.

“Do you talk about Auren?” I ask, ignoring his comment.

“Nope. He just talks about his problems and in return for listening he brings me things.” He gestures behind him that now has a stash of frizzy drinks along with some clothes and reading materials.

I had to speak to Brandon about this. Not once has he mentioned this.

“Your brother on the other hand seems more like you,” Xavier continues. “He just growls and asks questions. How I would love to get up under all that hard body. Such a waste.”

I growl in warning.

“Alright I will keep my hands to myself. Anyway, for Marcus and his people to go into the city, there must be a big reason. A plan of some kind.”

“Could they find her?”

“I don’t think so. If they were her blood relatives then they could. So the only explanation is they were already there to know she was there. The same as me finding silverveil. I told you I could sense it but it grew stronger the closer I got. It’s how I knew I was going in the right direction.”

He places his hand on his waist and starts pacing his cell muttering under his breath. He then comes to a stop and his brown eyes flash to me. “Who else knew she was going.”

“My sister, Auren’s tutor and a couple of my pack members.”.

“All wolves right? You don’t have any Lycans hiding in here?”

“Apart from Auren, no. Is it possible she accidentally opened up a link between them.”

“Hmmmm. Seems unlikely. She would have felt it and had access to them too. So the only possible explanation is that they were there for something and got lucky. They would never be bold enough to come here because you have the numbers.”

I stare at him remembering how he had explained to us how Lycans had come to existence. He said it was a story but what if it was true. What if it’s possible.

“Xavier……..can they create more?”

“I told you we procreate like you guys,” he starts pacing the cells again. “Just like everyone else.”

“Xavier,” I growl. “Can they create more, the way it was done the first time?

He stops pacing, turns to me and sighs. “That method has been forbidden, a long time ago, but yes. Yes they can.”
