Chapter No 44

Chapter No 44

"What faces, don't tell me you got a crush..." Emaad said mischievously.
"Shut up Emaad, you know I have never developed a crush, what am I? A 16-year-old teenager?" asked Roman.
Emaad chuckled.
"Oh yeah, then why are you not looking me in the eyes," asked Emaad. Roman looked up into his eyes instantly.
"Here, now what do you want me to do, blushing?" asked Roman, annoyed.
Emaad chuckled again.
"You are so good at hiding emotions," said Emaad.
"From emotions, I came to remember where is a cat fighter?" asked Roman, mischief dancing in his blue eyes.
Emaad rolled his eyes.
"Don't bring it again," said Emaad and got up. Roman chuckled this time.

"Yeah Mom, I have adjusted in this town, I found that Lizzy, a lizard as well, is studying in my college, you were right about this," she was talking with Rukhsana on the phone.

"Have you met him?" asked Rukhsana. "No, not yet," said Sana.

"Sana, I need all the information and you know what you have to do," said Rukhsana.

"Mom, don't worry, I never lose," said Sana with a smirk and hung up.

He came back to college after one month as his internship was about to end. As a final-year student, he had to do a lot of projects. He was always a brilliant student with the highest IQ. He was the son of Imran Ali Gardezi, one of the infamous army officers. His maternal grandfather was in the army as well. Still, as a student, he was on the cover of a magazine for being the heir of a huge business chain in the town and one of the handsome guys in town.
He had fame, status, and everything that could make him superior. He was the only son of his parents and this led him to become arrogant, and rude.
"Roman," someone called his name and he turned. It was the same girl whom he saw an hour ago and had a déjà vu about.

"Yes?" he asked while raising an eyebrow. Her long silky hair was styled on her shoulder. The bag she was wearing on her arm was a limited edition.

"Have not you recognized me?" she asked while showing her teeth. He scratches his head.

After a brief silence, she spoke.

"I am Saliha's cousin," she said, smiling.

He raised an eyebrow as if he was asking, 'So?'

He did not pay attention, instead, he walked away in the direction where Emaad was standing.

She stares at him while clenching her teeth.

Hunza was sitting in the back seat, she looked so pissed off. Hania entered the class and looked around for her friends.

She raised an eyebrow at her friends who were sitting on both separate corners of the class as if the war between them was about to start.
She walked towards Saliha as she was not looking as savage as Hunza right now.

"What happened?" she asked. Saliha looks at her sheepishly.

She rolled her eyes and got up and walked towards Hunza instead.

"What happened? Why are you getting so red?" she asked in a whisper. Hunza gave her a very tough look.

"Listen, the thing that happened is I got a friend, a friend who loves to be treat like shit, a friend who is happy to be a scapegoat to anyone," Hunza screamed. Luckily, there was no one else in the classroom other than them.

Saliha turned towards her instantly. Hunza was looking at her angrily. "Listen Hunza, I am sorry," she said, sadly.

"This, yours' this kind of attitude will put you in trouble, that bitch whoever she is, how dare she treat my friend like this," Hunza's anger was now out of control.
"What happened will anyone tell me?" asked Hania. Saliha took a deep breath.

"My cousin Sana is here in the town and she met me this morning," Saliha said.

"And tell her she treats you like a shit and you give a damn about yourself respect," Hunza said, annoyed.

"Hunza, honey, I know you are pissed off but I can't speak in front of her," she said.

"Why?" asked both Hania and Hunza in one voice.

"Since childhood, she always overshadowed me. I was not allowed to talk in front of her. If I do, my aunt will punish me," she said.

"But now you are not living with your aunt," said Hunza, exhausted. It was true she was not living in Rukhsana's household.

"Yeah, I, I know," she said, weakly.

"But somethings does not change," Hunza screamed and stormed out of the class.

Hania looked at her with pity and got up as well. She felt all alone again.

She remembers how Sana used to tease her, how she used to make her suffer. She always gets what she wants. She used to give her used things and clothes. She was once not allowed to go to events if Sana does not want her to go. The childhood trauma made her this way. She was unable to raise her voice in front of anyone.

A tear fell from her eyes. Her grandmother had raised her. She had never seen her mother. She does not know any single detail about her father. If she had her parents by her side, she might be self-centred and confident like any other normal student but normal was not a word in her life.
She wiped her tears from the back of her hand and got up.
She does not want to attend the class now.

"I know, I am a fool, that's how everyone left me alone. I know they think that I am a stupid, idiot who does not respect herself," she thought while looking down on the floor. She was walking in the corridor meaninglessly.

"Saliha," just then she heard a voice. A voice she wanted to hear last time in the world.

She turned.

Sana was standing there with Patricia, Emaad's ex.
"Come here," said Sana.

She knew what was coming next.

She walked towards them, trying hard to look confident.

"I have not seen Emaad for a while and my sister is missing Roman as well, tell them we are waiting for them," said Patricia.

Her heart stopped and she looked at Sana who was wearing a mischievous smile.

"Oh no, now she knows all about Roman and his affairs," she thought. "
Saliha, you have not told me that Roman got this famous reputation here?" asked Sana, smiling.

She was looking into her eyes expressionlessly.
"Oh you know her?" asked Patricia.

"Yeah, she used to work at my house," said Sana.

"What?" Patricia said, shocked.

Saliha was staring at her in shock.

"Yeah, I mean, her mother, she used to work as a maid at our house," Sana said, apathetic.

"You are the daughter of a maid?" asked Patricia with an expression as if she was watching something very weird.

"Yeah, how could she tell you that?" said Sana.

"But she is living at Roman's house, the famous guy I told you about. Well, from first glance I came to know that she is a maid," said Patricia while staring at her from up to down.

"Oh well, I remember now, you have told me there is a girl Roman's father had bought to do some charity," said Patricia. They were talking as if Saliha was not there or if she was a non-living thing.

"Yeah, her mother sold her out before dying," said Sana.

"Oh Ghosh, what kind of creep she was on the name of mother...." Said, Patricia.

But Saliha did not hear her properly. She felt her blood boiling, it was the first time that happened to her. She felt she would explode due to anger. Her fist tightened and the next thing she did was beyond her control. Her tightened fist hit Patricia's face hard. She was beating her without realizing what she was doing.

"How dared you to speak about my mother like this, you bitch, how dared you? My mother was a respected woman, my mother was unlike any bitches like you," she was screaming while beating Patricia. Sana was watching her with horrible expressions. She had never seen her like this before. Saliha was always a calm girl. She was against the violence but the cruel world has made her.
Patricia's nose was bleeding but Saliha was not letting her go. Students were gathered around.
Hania and Hunza were passing by the class when they heard screams and muttering. They rushed towards the scene.

"Holy shit, what is this?" said Hania. A smile appeared on Hunza's face.

"Saliha, stop it," said Hania while moving ahead but Hunza held her arm.

"That's my girl, let her," said Hunza, cheering.

"Hunza, are you crazy, stop her, Patricia is already bleeding," said Hania and moved ahead and made Saliha separate from Patricia.

"If you ever dare to talk about my mother like this I will kill you," she said while raising a finger in front of her nose exactly looking like Roman's female version.

Sana narrowed her eyes but Saliha was not looking at her.

She turned and set herself free from Hania and rushed out of the place.

"Whoa, a pretty scene," said Hunza.

"Move, move, move everyone there is nothing left to see," said Hunza while pushing everyone away.

"Thank God, everything is fine now," said Hania, taking deep breaths.

"Well, finally," said Hunza.

"Hunza, stop it, Saliha is hurt, she does not hurt anyone like this," said Hania, annoyed.

Hunza smiled.

"I know my friend, but finally she did speak," said Hunza.

She was walking away in anger. It was the first time she felt this much anger but her anger turned into another emotion and that was hurt, her eyes filled with tears. She doesn't like when someone says bad things about her mother, she never seen her mother, and she died when she was a newborn.
Her eyes were screaming with pain. She was unable to see anything due to tears. She was walking while looking down at the ground.
She was out of school now. Few students were sitting there. Some seniors and some middle-year students.
"Stupid tears," she muttered. She does want anyone to know that she was crying so she did not wipe her tears with her hands but they were causing trouble to watch out.

Just then she had gone to collide with someone.

"What about the new girl?" asked Zain.

"What?" asked Haeem, there was a shine in his eyes.

"Feel shame," said Zain.

He rolled his eyes.

Roman was smoking while Emaad was typing something on his phone. "The new girl is hot, I have seen her," said Haeem.

"Well, every girl is hot to you," said Zain.

"Anyhow does anyone know who she is?" asked Haeem.

"She is Saliha's cousin," said Roman in deep thought.

"What? But Saliha and neither you informed us about the arrival of this hot cousin," said Haeem.
Roman did not reply because he did not know about this as well.

He was in deep thought when someone got collide on his back. He turned while clenching his teeth but then he saw Saliha standing there looking down on the ground.
She looked up instantly and their eyes met.
His eyes narrowed because he spotted tears in her eyes.

She was not expecting him, she looked down instantly and wiped her tears and then she walked ahead crossing Roman.
"Emaad, are you free?" she asked Emaad.

He looked up towards her, her looks telling something was off about her.

"Yeah," he said hesitantly while looking at Roman who was giving him tough looks.
"I mean no, I am working on my project, it is the last day," he said while showing her the camera placed nearby. They totally understood their eye signals.

She looked at Zain. He was looking at her. They all were guessing about her current expressions' causes in their mind.

"Zain, could you drop me home?" she asked Zain.

"Now? But Saliha, not a single class held yet, why are you leaving without taking classes, are you skipping classes?" he asked.
She took a deep breath as if she was trying to calm herself. She wanted to cry and she held those tears back hard.

"I have not finished my assignment and I need to work on those," she said but her voice was shaky.
Roman had crossed his arm around his chest and took a deep breath. He already knew Zain's answer.

"Saliha, I am working on my project as well, you know it's the final year and we have to submit it," he said.
Now she looked tense and a bit anxious.
She turned towards Haeem who was now typing something on his phone.
