Chapter No 41
Chapter No 41
"Where, where are we going?" she asked, shocked. He was staring at the road, expressionlessly.
"Roman, I don't have time for jokes, please take me home..." she said but her sentence ended with a sneeze.
She was still wearing his leather jacket.
He looked at her instantly and then looked ahead to the road, the rain was moderately heavy, so it was difficult to see clearly on the road.
He rolls his eyes.
"Oh come on, what have I gotten myself into," he thought, annoyed.
He took a left turn and slowed down the car.
She sneezed again.
"Roman, I am getting sick, I need to go home or if I catch a cold, It won't be good," she said while looking out of the window.
Is she giving me a warning?
He narrowed his eyes.
"I get depressed when I catch a cold," she said in a lower tone.
He looked at her again and this time multiple emotions were floating in her eyes.
"Roman, look ahead," she screamed. Another car was too close and if she had not alerted him, he would have hit the other car. He took turns and they were safely on the road.
She took a deep breath.
"Do you want me to have a heart attack?" she said, irritated. "You almost gave me one," he muttered.
"Where are we going?" she asked, annoyed. He stopped the car.
"Roman, why have you stopped the car here?" she asked. "We need to go home. Aunt would be worried about us," she was speaking non-stopped.
He unlocked his seat belt and moved towards her and placed his index finger on her lips, making her gasp.
"Shhh, you ask so many questions," he snapped in a whisper-like voice.
Her heart was beating so fast.
He was too close that she could feel his breath on her face.
She moved her body away and she felt the car's door behind her back.
Why there is no escape from this devil?
"You are scared as if I am some random guy as if your safety is in danger?" he said while looking into her eyes.
"The one who got an image of fucking around with a woman, I should be scared of him in the middle of the road, alone and in heavy rain," she said while looking into his deep blue eyes.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Be nice," Saira's words were again echoing in his head. She sneezed.
He took a deep breath and moved back.
He opened the door and without a word, he got out. She opened her mouth in O.
"Where are you going?" she asked but he did not answer and then she saw him walking in the rain towards the shop.
"Now what is he up to? Maybe another way to torture me" she muttered.
She looked out of the window irritated. It was already dark and due to heavy rain; it was a shady day. Street lights and the rain were so appealing. It was the very first rain of March.
The heater was giving much comfort but she caught the cold. After a while, he came back with a lot of bags in his hands.
He was all soaked. He got in the car.
"What are these?" she asked after the sneeze.
"Change your wet dress," he said while looking into her eyes. She opened her eyes to the size of a small ball.
She looked around. "Where?" she asked.
"In the car," he said calmly.
She pulled the jacket she was wearing to cover her body as if she was hiding it from him.
He smirked.
"I think, there is nothing you should hide from me," he said in a deep voice. She turned red, blushing.
"I won't change clothes here, with you," she snapped, annoyed. He crossed his arm around his chest.
She sneezed.
How stubborn can she be?
He moved ahead a bit and held her arm softly. She gasped.
"Why do you always get scared of me?" he asked in a deep voice. Her heart was beating so fast.
He moved his hand on her arm softly. His eyes were intoxicating. She always liked his eyes. The day when they got married, it was his eyes that made her heart rush faster.
"Change your clothes or else I will do it for you," he said in a deep voice.
She was shaking with fear now. All the bravery she got from Hunza was now gone.
He looked at his wristwatch and then at Saliha.
"Your time is over," he said in a whisper and moved his hands towards her.
She hid her face with her hands.
"Roman please, don't," she said instantly. A smirk appeared on his face, a victorious smile.
She has been talking to him boldly for weeks and acting the same way.
He crossed his arms around his chest and was looking at her almost lost in her features and the burning red colour her face was showing now.
He turned off the lights inside the car and got out of the car. After a while her side of the car's door opened. She was not expecting that, shocks, all he was giving her was shocks.
He lifted her in his arms. She put her arms around his neck to get support. Their eyes met. Heavy rain was falling on their faces. His features looked so handsome with those wonderful water drops.
She on the other hand was taking his breath with her long hair sticking on his shoulder.
She sneezed again.
He opened the back door of the car and set her inside and shut the door. He stood outside in the rain so that she could get change. The black mirrors were giving her proper privacy.
He stood there while folding his arm around his chest. He never did care like this for anyone.
She turned on the phone torch and checked the bags he brought. He brought so many dresses for her.
"How many clothes he bought," she thought. She chose a red top, he made sure all those dresses could cover her body modestly.
She wore the clothes and moved ahead; she wiped the wet seat ahead with one of the clothes. She did the same for his seat. Now the seats were all dry, thanks to the leather, the water did not soak in.
She knocked on the door and he opened the back seat door and got in. "Since when you reached ahead?" he asked, seeing her sitting in the front seat.
"Just now, thanks for the clothes, they all are good," she said and when she turned to look at him, she gasps.
He had taken off his shirt. The car's lights were on. She looked ahead instantly.
"What are you doing?" she asked, avoiding making eye contact. "Changing," he said, shortly.
She took a deep breath.
"He is so he always does such things," she thought and moved her hand towards the car's light to turn it off.
She turned off the light.
She did not know he was smirking in the dark. After a while, he changed and moved ahead to turn on the lights. His chest messed up with her shoulder, making her startled.
The car was illuminated, and she looked up at him. He was wearing a V- neck maroon colour T-shirt and black jeans. His toned body was looking so appealing.
She instantly looked away. He moved ahead on the driving seat. "You have dried the seats?" he asked.
"Yeah, with this," she said while showing him the shirt. He looked at the fabric and then at her.
She narrowed her eyes in confusion.
She looked down at the shirt and almost gasped.
"I brought this limited-edition shirt to wear it to the conference," he said.
She looked up at him.
"It was dark, I did not realize that," she said.
He took the shirt from her and looked at it with pity in his eyes.
He took a deep breath and looked ahead on the road.
"You are soon to be doomed," he muttered.
She was still staring at the shirt. He looked at her, and there was remorse on her face. He snatched the shirt away and threw it on the back seat.
"Let it go, I will wear something else," he said.
"No, how much did it cost, I got Uncle Imran's card, I will buy you one," she said while looking into his eyes innocently. He looked at her for a while.
Her innocent eyes were looking so appealing.
"1990 dollars," he said in a deep voice. She gasped.
"What?" she repeated in shock.
He bought this expensive shirt; she could buy 20 sets of clothes in this range.
He looked at her bag where her wallet was and she knew now she had no such credit.
"What happened?" he asked. "Nothing," she said.
"How many times should I tell you that when I mean, I got my eyes on you then I mean it," he said, flatly while looking inside her eyes.
"I will pay for that and these clothes as well," she said pointing at the red top she was wearing with blue jeans.
He looked down towards the top she was wearing. He chose that top for her at first glance.
"I don't need it," he said shortly and started the car. She took a deep breath that they are finally going home but still, he had not taken a turn towards their house.
"Roman, now where are we going?" she asked.
He was driving smoothly; heavy rain was hitting the glass.
"Relax, why on the earth do you want to go home? Did mum ask you to cook?" he asked.
She looked at him disappointed.
"Are not you tired? But I am tired, I have finished my assignment, luckily Zain was there for me," she said.
He pushed the brakes instantly. She was about to hit her head on the dashboard when he placed his arm between the dashboard and her head, saving her head.
She looked at him, confused.
"Why did you stop the car in the middle of the road?" she asked, irritated.
He took a deep breath.
"Roman, be nice," Saira's voice again appeared in his head. "Freaking Saira," he muttered.
"What?" asked Saliha. He took a deep breath.
"So you have done the assignments?" he asked while moving his hand in his hair. His hair was still wet.
"Yeah, it was a bit difficult for me to do it alone, but Zain has helped me a lot with it, he is a good friend," she said.
He looked at her instantly.
"Good friend? As what?" he asked, he was now playing with the toy placed on the dashboard.
"Amm, nice in a manner, he is very polite and he never gets angry when he teaches," she said.
He chuckled.
His grip on the toy became tightened. He was struggling with himself not to lose it.
"Do you like ice cream?" she asked. He looked at her instantly.
"Do you like it?" she asked again.
"No, I don't," he said, shortly.
"What a bore? How could girls die to date him?" she muttered.
"What?" he asks.
"I need one," she said.
"You have already caught a cold; do you think I will buy you one? And then I will go home and get scolded by Mom?" he asked while raising an eyebrow.
She frowned. She thought he was teasing her for being dependent on his money.
"I, I got some cash," she said in a lower tone. "What?" he asked, half laughing. It was signal now he was indeed pissed off.
She was avoiding his eye contact but by his tone, she realized she touched the honey hive.
"Do you think? I will eat ice cream bought by you?" he said.
She looked at him, angrily.
"Creepy, self-obsessed geezer," she thought.
"I want that," she said.
He rolls his eyes and started driving the car again and after five minutes the car was now in front of the drive thru of Gloria Jeans. He stopped in front of the window.
"Hello, Mr. Gardezi, how are you?" asked the shop employee from the serving window. It was one of the famous shops in the town and only the rich could afford to go there.
"I am fine Max, two coffees and chocolate milk cake," he said, handing him his credit card.
How did he know I like chocolate milk cake?
The manager looked at him as if he was looking at a ghost when his gaze fell on Saliha.
He did not say a word and got in to bring their order. "Roman, I don't like coffee," she said.
"Have it or else I am driving home," he said in a warning tone.
"No, but I heard it's bitter," she said.
He started the car when she stops him.
"Okay, I will have," she said. She was already feeling hungry. This devil was so manic.
"What name is it for the bill?" asked the cashier, who was a 19 years old blond woman from the boy who took Roman's order.
"Roman Ali Gardezi," he said, he was in deep thought.
"Oh, our regular customer, again the one coffee?" she said while typing the bill.
"Not one, two this time," he said. Her finger stopped.
She looked out of the window towards Roman's car, he was sitting with some girl and chatting, smiling, and sometimes laughing but he was staring ahead, expressionlessly and seemed so pissed off.
"Seriously?" she said in astonishment.
"This girl must mean something to him, I mean, I never saw him talking to girls like this or even buying coffee, I mean he came here with girls but he never brought coffee for anyone," said the boy.
The cashier shrugs.
"Have not you seen his expressions? He looked so pissed off as if he will throw her out," he said.
The boy took the bill and the order and walks towards Roman's car.
"Take this," he said while handing her the cup of coffee and putting the cake on the dashboard.
It was melting chocolate milk cupcake.
"How did he know what I was thinking, it tastes like ice cream, jerk is not that bad," she thought, shocked. She took the cup from his hand.
He placed his cup on the dashboard and drove towards the parking lot. "If I said I got my eyes on you then I mean it," he said in a deep voice.
Saliha was staring at the cup.
"Well drink," he said while holding his paper sleeve cup. "I don't know how it tastes," she said.
"Why are you worrying, it is not poison, come on," he said, annoyed, and took a
She took a sip and found it so relaxing and relieving. She took a deep breath and it indeed smelled so good. "Did you like it?" he asked.
She nods.
"This is a treat for that day," he said, smiling.
"What day?" she asked while taking another sip.
"The day when you treated me," he said while looking out of the window.
She was surprised by his sudden change of behaviour.
He was indeed manic.
"So that's how he is being nice to me, a payback, meanwhile the devil will be back, the next day," she thought.
The rain was still heavily falling on the screen of the car.
"It's okay Roman, I did this for my aunt, I treated you because she asked me, she told me how sensitive you are to the cold," she said while looking at him.
She did do this for Mom?
His jaw tickled. She never lost the chance to piss him off. He finished the coffee in one breath and threw the cup at the back.
She looked at him and opened her mouth to say something when he raised his hand.
"Not now," he snapped.
He started the car and was now driving silently.
There was an awkward silence in the car. She was looking at him from the corner of her eyes.
He was looking straight toward the road with a poker expression.
"Manic, the devil is back," she thought.
His car was indeed very comfortable. Due to the rain, he was driving slowly. He turned on the music. Lana del Rey's Brooklyn was playing.
She was feeling very comfortable in the warm environment and she was tired as well, she closed her eyes and fell asleep in minutes.
He looked at her from the corner of his eyes and rolls his eyes.
"People awake for the night but she fell asleep after one cup of coffee," he muttered.
Their residence was 18 minutes away. He dimmed the light so that she could sleep better.
Lana del Rey's voice was making the environment even lighter.
