Chapter 32

CYRUS

He had his own house.

Well, it was rented. A rented building. It had three rooms with his being the biggest, a guest bathroom, a movies room and a really nice balcony.

He held my hand all through the tour and he was still holding my hand even when he led me into the room that I would be occupying for the night.

It was spacious and beautiful. Twice the size of the dorms back at the university. It was painted in white and grey, a really beautiful combination. The bed was a queen size, big and inviting and I wondered what it would feel like to sleep on it.

I wasn't going to be doing much wondering because I would be sleeping on it soon.

"What do you think?"

I turned to Cyrus and saw him watching me expectantly. His eyes seemed to glow under the low lighting in the room. My breath hitched.

"I think it's beautiful." I said truthfully, "Thank you."

And I meant it. He was fast becoming one of my favourite people-not that I had alot, but the fact that I termed him a favourite and trusted him enough to crash at his place was saying a lot. Maybe the fact that I had feelings for him contributed to the trust I had for him, but even at that, I wasn't known for just developing feelings for random guys. Mariah had been trying to get me to go on a single date with any guy for god's sake. And she failed every single time. Until she had eventually given up.

"This room has its own bathroom so you don't need to stress and use the one out in the hallway. If you need anything at all-" he paused, "Wait. You don't have anything to change, do you?"

I shook my head.

"Okay. I'll go look for something for you." He hurried out of the room before I could even say anything.

What was up with him? Why was he acting so jumpy and nervous?

I thought back to dinner. Our conversation had gone well, extremely well if I must say, considering that we were both newly starting to hang and usually, there was a huge dose of awkwardness during first dates. Not that I had gone on a lot of them, I saw that in both movies and books. And I was glad that mine and Cyrus' first date hadn't been like that.

I walked over to the bed to sit on it, then placed my clutch beside me.

As I had already guessed before, Cyrus was rich. Filthy rich. His car, his clothes, that insanely expensive wristwatch and now this place. I knew how much it cost to rent a single bedroom flat for a month, not to talk about a whole building and he had been living here for up to a month.

The exterior of the house was what one would describe plain since it wasn't really that eye-catching, stepping inside it felt like stepping into a different world entirely. Everything that was used to decorate it, every single thing was expensive. The house reeked of money.

Which again brought the question to my mind. What did Cyrus do for a living?

I felt really uncomfortable asking a person what they did for a living. Especially now that I had seen his place and it was very obvious that he had money. What if he started to think that I was going to set my sights on his money?

Nope. I wasn't going to ask him. Maybe eventually, but not now.

I raised my head when I heard his footsteps. For such a big man, he walked silently. Except the house was pin drop silent, one wouldn't know he was coming, which was the case now since we were the only ones here and there was no noise at all.

He came in bearing a t shirt and shorts. He held the shirt up so that I could see it. It was definitely going to swallow me.

"It's the smallest shirt that I could find and I know it's still gonna be big for you, but it's just for tonight. Right?"

"Yeah. I'll make do with it. It's not like I'm going out anyway." I added the last part just for laughs and I was happy when I saw his lips twitch with the promise of a smile.

"True." He raised the other piece of clothing he was holding. Black briefs. "Before you reject them, they're new. They were the only bottoms I could find that wouldn't fall off you."

If I wasn't mistaken, I could detect a faint stain of pink on his cheeks.

Oh my God, he was blushing! This big, beautiful man was blushing!

Deciding to take pity on him, I took the clothes he offered and stretched up on my tiptoes-I had kicked off my heels immediately I entered the living room-to give him a chaste kiss on the lips.

"Thanks." I told him and stepped away hurriedly before I changed my mind and turned the kiss into a full blown make out session.

Lord knew that I could barely control myself with this man.

I laid the shirt and briefs out on the bed and when I turned, I saw that he wasn't in the room anymore. This man. Why was he in such a hurry to leave?

I mean, sure anything didn't have to happen today. I especially knew that it was too soon even though I wanted him badly, but he didn't have to make it so obvious that he didn't want to have sex with me.

Or was that the issue? Did he not want to have sex with me?

No. That wasn't true. My mind flashed back to a few nights ago in his car. The frevor with which he had returned my kisses and the marks he had been unable to keep from inflicting on me. Marks that stayed on my skin even after two days. How hard he had fought to maintain his grip on control.

Maybe that was what he was doing right now. Maybe he was trying not to let his control slip.

But what if I told him that I didn't want him in control? What if I told him that I wanted him too?

Don't push him, Avery. Take it slow.

Sighing, I peeled the gown off of my body, placed it beside my newly acquired clothes on the bed and retreated into the bathroom.

The marble tiles on the wall were pristine white, in perfect condition which was expected since he didn't use this bathroom. There was a body wash on the sink, a toothbrush and paste but that was all. They were all brand new, which killed my suspicion that anyone else had been using this place.

I parted my hair into two equal sides and braided it so that it wouldn't get wet. I was already through with bathing and was unconsciously reaching for the shower pole to grab my towel when I realised that Cyrus hadn't given me one. Shit. I was stuck in here.

I walked over to the door, cracked it a little and called for him. His voice sounded close when he answered.

"I forgot. Sorry. Here you go." He shoved the towel into my hand and turned away immediately, giving me privacy.

His eyes had lingered a total of five seconds on my skin before he turned away and in those meagre five seconds, I felt the heat on my skin.

He did want me all right.

How easy it would be to push the door completely open and jump him. Would he still show the same composure when presented with my bare body? Or was he going to lose his cool?

A huge part of me wanted to see him lose his cool so bad, but the tiny part of me, the one that wasn't horny, thought that it wasn't a smart idea to push him when he was obviously trying his best to show me that he didn't want me just because of sex.

Oh, well. There went that fantasy.

I shut the door and toweled myself dry. When I was done, I pushed the door open and wasn't even suprised when I saw that he wasn't in the room anymore.

Since it was late and there was no lotion, I threw the t-shirt on, dragged the briefs up my body. They were surprisingly very comfortable and a snug fit which was probably due to the fact that my ass was a little on the big side.

As I made to walk out of the room, I caught my reflection in the mirror on the wall. The shirt didn't hang on me as much as I thought that it would. In fact, it seemed like baggy was a really good look on me. I should wear them more.

My eyes landed on my gown on the bed. I went over to pick it, arranged it carefully on the single chair on the other side of the room, then I went downstairs, hoping that Cyrus was still awake.
