Chapter 45 A New Car

Chapter 45 A New Car

"Okay then I guess it's a done deal." A tall brown haired man said with his pink lips spreading into a smile. "Pleasure being here today." He shook the hand of a fellow man. He squinted and sucked in air through his lips. "Is... Your boss okay, though? He seemed absent minded all through our discussion, like something terrible was bugging him."

"Oh uh... Just thinking about ways to grow the company, that's all." The other man replied with a forced smile. His eyes darted towards his boss who wasn't too far away from them yet his mind was somewhere he could not even guess.

Chris sat in his chair with a hand on his chin, lost in his own thoughts. He kept wondering, what was the perfect way to approach Cara without seeming proud? He couldn't just go over to her with a few thousand dollars and hand it to her.

How about doing her a favor? Maybe he could buy her a new car since he crashed her own one.

"That is a perfect idea!" Chris suddenly exclaimed as he sprung to his feet.

The others around him flinched at the suddenness of his voice. His assistant who had been with the brown haired man hurried towards him. "Are you okay, sir?"

Chris' eyes accessed his surroundings and realized he had screamed out loud. He bowed his head apologetically with a gentle smile. "Sorry, I just had a uh... Brilliant idea for the company."

The other shared a nervous laugh but asked no more questions. Without wasting any more time, he dashed out of the conference room.

His assistant said goodbye to their client and hurried after Chris. "Boss! Boss!" He yelled out as he chased him.

"What do you want, Dustin? I'm in the middle of something important! Well I'm about to get to it anyway and I don't want any disturbance until I am done." Chris growled at his young assistant.

Dustin nodded his head. "Yes sir but I just... I need to know where you are going in case someone from the board asks about you while you are away because I can see that you are going towards the elevator and not your office."

Chris finally stopped and turned to face Dustin. "Listen, I think I might have found a way to get my life back and if I don't do this, I fear it might really be over."

Dustin stared confusedly at his boss. "Sir... Just tell me where you are going, I have no right to stop you and I don't think I ever will."

Chris let out a soft sigh. "I'm going to buy a new car." Without waiting for a response, he turned around and disappeared behind the elevator's closed doors.

Dustin stared confusedly at his boss. A new car? Didn't he say he had an idea to help the company? How would a new car for himself help?

He gasped shortly. 'Is Mr Knowles planning to give me his old car when he buys a new one? Is that help he meant? I can't believe I'm getting a new car!'

Chris' current car was no joke. He drove one of the best brands.

Dustin could almost scream in excitement. He felt alas, his hard work had been recognized and the man wanted to tip him the way wealthy people tipped and called it a small gift.

If he were to give out a small gift, it would be a pen that cost no more than a dollar. That was a small gift.

Chris drove excitedly all the way to his best dealer's company. The place he had gotten his current ride. The man, Andrew, handsome and tall with brown messy hair and a charming smile recognized his good client right away as his light brown eyes landed on him.

"Mr Knowles." He said with a handsome smile. "I didn't think I'd be seeing you back here so soon, I want to believe that this isn't because of your recent purchase, yes?" His bushy brow arched as he asked.

"Mr Malhotra," Chris smiled. "I can assure you it's not about that."

"Oh I know that. Our products are the best." Andrew boasted. "If it isn't anything urgent or important, is it cool if I leave? I have plans with a few friends over the weekend."

"Oh it is important," Chris stated. "I need a new car. Something feminine and strong. Not too expensive because she doesn't like something that screams money, just... Feminine, decent and modest."

Andrews' slightly red lips curved into a smile. "Ah... A surprise gift for your wife. I believe your anniversary is coming up soon?" He squinted his brown eyes, trying to remember.

"Huh? Oh no this is not about that. The car is a gift to someone... More special." Chris grinned.

Andrew's thick brow arched as confusion washed over him and threw him in a state of awe. "Someone more special than a wife...?" He muttered the question.

He was about to start lecturing Chris about the importance of marriage and wife and love according to his Indian culture but then he realized his job was to sell cars and that was exactly what he would do.

Nothing wrong in earning a few extra millions to waste on his friends' cruiser party.

"Oh well, if you say. Please, let me show you to our newest collection and I assure you, something will pique your interest." Andrew smiled.

He led his customer to their newest collection as he had said. He gave information about every single car there and indeed, a car did pique Chris' interest. A white jeep, one of the latest models.

Not too expensive and decent looking. Just the way Cara liked things. He still didn't know why she was driving a Porsche truck when she didn't like to overspend on things.

He concluded that her new rich boyfriend must have forced it on her and she didn't want to reject it.

But he knew her more than anyone and he knew she liked to manage. He smiled, she would appreciate this so much she would be moved to tears...
