Chapter Twenty-Five

JADEN’S POV

“Jaden, honey.” Mom said. “How could you?”

“I don’t want to and I told you that the party should be held back!” I said, rolling over on the itchy, guest room’s bed.

“Jaden, please, I beg you.” She said.

I ignored her. Then, there was a pause.

“Is this what you want to do to me?” she asked me. “And why do you want the engagement party to be held back? It’s too late already; everyone is coming to see the sweet couple that they’ve been hearing about.”

I threw the quilt over my head.

“This is the moment where they can finally see you and Domino together.”

My stomach twisted as my mom said Domino’s name.

“You can always talk to me if there is a problem.”

Memories of the fight flashed through my mind and anger sizzled through me.

“Why would you say that?” Alex, my wolf asked me.

“I don’t know.” I said.

“I bet she will never forgive you.”

I didn’t give him a reply.

“No, everything is fine.” I said, running my hand through my hair.

“Then, why did you drink last night? And you didn’t come home until five in the morning!”

“Oh, it’s nothing, I just haven’t been drinking for a while.” I said, like it was no big deal.

But, last night I almost ended up hooking up with someone. I ran my hand through my hair one more time; my life had really changed since I met Domino.

I partied every other Saturday and drank excessively almost every Friday and possibly hooked up with someone. But since I met her, I’d been uninterested in my previous lifestyle.

“Honey, that’s not an excuse, how can you explain coming home at nearly five in the morning? You couldn’t have been drinking that long.”

I sat up in annoyance.

“Look, mom, stop questioning me. I know what I am doing and I said I want the party postponed. Anyways, we need more time together.” I said.

“No, you don’t, you were perfectly fine, until yesterday you just left out of nowhere.”

She walked past the door frame. I sighed in annoyance again.

“Just tell me what is happening and I will try to solve it.”

I hesitated. “I don’t know, we just fought last night.”

“Well, what you can do is apologize to her, even though it was entirely your fault.”

“But she kissed Jonas, by accident.” I said, balling my fist.

I don't know why I was complaining about a girl, I never did in my whole life. I never really cared who I was with, unless they bothered me.

But Domino was different, I kept on noticing the little things she did and everytime when she spoke to a guy, I felt overprotective, like she couldn’t talk to anyone but me. And every move that she made, made me more attracted to her.

“Then do you want to be mad at her forever?” I didn’t reply.

“Well, maybe, you could apologize to her at the party tonight and she would forgive you, trust me.” She walked out of the room and shut the door behind her.

I picked up the pillow and threw it on the floor.

I don't know what I should really do, I was all up in my feelings and confused.

I got out of bed to get ready for tonight.

**

“Oh, honey, you look handsome!” Mom complimented, adjusting my tie. I stared at my reflection in the mirror.

“Oh, good, you’re ready. I think Domino is ready too!” Mom was really excited.

She patted my hair and said, “I am so glad you made the right decision!” She smiled and kissed my cheeks.

I adjusted my tie and combed my hair again. Mom grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the guest room and to my bedroom.

She threw the door open and immediately everyone in the room stopped moving.

Mom snapped her finger and all of the maidens rushed out of the door.

Domino was sitting on the chair. She was beautiful with a sheet covering her dress. I wasn’t allowed to see her in it, yet.

Our eyes met for a moment before she looked away from me. “Here, sit down.” Mom said, pointing at a spot next to Domino.

I sat down and mom grabbed one of my hands and one of Domino’s hands, holding our hands together. I could feel the tingling sensation coming from just touching her hand.

I wanted to leave the world behind and hold her. I wanted to whisper in her ears that I was really sorry and I wanted to ask if we could start over again.

“Look, I know something is wrong, but it’s ok, sometimes we all fight. But tonight, I beg you guys; please don’t make it look like you guys aren’t on good terms. I need you guys to look like you love each other, ok? Let’s just forget about the fight for tonight, ok?” mom pleaded, squeezing my hand. I looked up at Domino.

There was a knock on the door and dad came in.

“I think that both of you should wrap it up and go downstairs, there are a lot of people who would want to see you.” Dad said.

“Don’t forget what I said!” mom said. I noticed the maids hadn’t gotten around to putting on her shoes.

I crouched as I picked up the glass slippers before sliding them onto her beautiful feet.

“Thanks.” She mumbled.

I stood up and held out a hand to Domino, she took it and we linked arms before walking out of the room.

I admired her dress, withholding the compliments I had for her in order not to throw her off balance. She looked really nervous and unsure.
