Chapter 56: Threatened
Chapter 56: Threatened
"What are you doing?" Viola asked again. She couldn't believe that this man had the guts to pin her to the wall. Did he have a death wish? Worst of it all? His hand kept on bleeding as he strained to hold her in place. This made Viola angry. Why wasn't this guy conscious about his health? Did he always neglect his body this much?
"What do you think?" Vance's earnest eyes stared directly at Viola as he answered her question .
"You-"
"One more word, and I'll kiss you again." Before Viola could finish her statement, she was suddenly kissed. She couldn't believe the guy's audacity. How dare he?
Vance only felt satisfied when she was silent.
"Tell me, why don't you want to be friends with me? Am I that horrifying?" Vance asked. He really wanted to know.
"No, that's not it." Viola shook her head and said. Well, she meant it. Otherwise, she wouldn't have allowed him to help with the company's matters.
"Then what?" Vance pressed again. He really wanted to know what was happening.
"I just can't be friends with a guy who has a girlfriend. I don't want misunderstandings." Viola explained. She truly meant it. She was so scared of relationships, thanks to what her ex-husband did to her.
"No, I don't -"
"You're bleeding heavily. Let's talk after we've tended to your wound, okay?" Viola softened her tone and said. She knew she couldn't command him . He never was the kind to receive commands.
Since he had no issues, Viola helped him sit on the bed while and then took out the tools that had been prepared beforehand by the nurse.
"It might hurt a little. Please bear with it." Viola said before she began disinfecting his wound.
She could feel pain just by looking at Vance. However, when she looked at Vance, she could only see him frowning. Not a single groan or wince escaped his mouth. Viola wondered what kind of suffering the guy before her had undergone before he became so used to pain.
"She's not my girlfriend. " Vance suddenly spoke.
"Huh?" Viola was taken aback. She was still focused on his frown, so it was unexpected when he suddenly spoke.
"She really isn't my girlfriend, believe me." Vance said earnestly. He really couldn't bear the thought of being misunderstood. Especially not by her.
"Then?" Viola asked, but her hands didn't pause what they were doing. It was like she was a pro at that.
"An admirer." Vance stated.
"Okay." Viola said and focused on bandaging his wound.
"Done." After more than fifteen minutes, Viola announced.
"Please don't let your wound touch water." Viola instructed as she closed the first aid kit.
"Also, make sure to be changing your dressing every day. Don't let it get soaked." Viola added.
Vance only nodded and kept staring at her. Viola couldn't bear it any longer.
"What is it?" The way Vance looked at her was like she owed him something. She didn't remember what, though.
"I'm injured." Vance stated simply. This only puzzled Viola more.
"And?" Because what could she say? She wanted to hear what he had in mind.
"I'm now your responsibility. " Vance once again said. Viola was rendered speechless at his shamelessness. Was this the same Vance she always heard of.
"I'll call your assistant to come pick you up." Viola said and took out her phone.
"No, I want to go with you." Vance protested.
"No." Viola outright refused. Go with her? Where?
"If you don't. I'll tell the world what happened between us. " Vance threatened. These words made Viola freeze on the spot. What was this guy's deal?
