Chapter 53: Stay away from her
Chapter 53: Stay away from her
Viola raised her head from the papers and looked at her phone. She wondered whom it was that had reached out. Usually, it would be about company matters, and that was mostly during the day. She had changed her number after going through that betrayal back then, so she was sure no one among them had her number. That's how she always avoided trouble. She still reached out to check her phone.
It was a message. It read;
"Hi, it's Vance. Are you okay?" Short and concise. Viola raised a brow. She decided to respond. She couldn't ignore his goodwill, could she?
Viola thought she would be relieved of the burden after replying to his text. However, she was shocked to see that he was calling. What was wrong with the guy? Viola hesitated on whether she should pick up the call or not. What if it brought problems between his girlfriend and himself? Viola didn't want to see that happen. She didn't want to be labeled a homewrecker because the sound of it was disgusting enough. She decided not to pick it up for the sake of their peace. She continued working on the files she was reading. They were of utmost importance, so she couldn't bear to dawdle at all.
"Please pick up the call." Just then, the phone chimed again. Viola was becoming irritated and impatient because who could tell her what was happening? She was trying to concentrate! When she saw that it was another text from Vance, Viola became doubtful. Who could tell her what was happening? Why was the cold and heartless Vance suddenly all enthusiastic? This made Viola doubt. She didn't believe Vance had so much free time on his hands to be texting and calling at any given time. Then, who could it be? Was it a scammer?
She decided to ignore the text and focus on more important stuff. She didn't care whom it was as long as they didn't disturb her while she worked. There was a moment of peace in the study until she finished working on one file, just as she picked up the next file and was about to work on it, the phone once again rang. Viola couldn't help but release an exasperated sigh. What was going on seriously?
She picked it up.
"Who is it?" Anyone could tell that she was angry at that moment. What Viola hated the most was being interrupted whenever she worked.
"It's me." When Viola heard the voice, she froze for a moment. It was him. It was really Vance. But why?
"May I know why you're calling?" Viola decided to go straight to the point. She had a lot of things to do and had no time for a chitchat.
"I'm sorry." Vance said. And Viola's soul trembled. Crap, why was tye mighty Vance apologizing?
"Huh? What for?" Viola couldn't help but ask. She truly didn't understand what was happening.
"What happened today." Vance answered. He was talking about Amber's fiasco. Viola figured it out.
"It's okay. I should be the one to apologize. " After all, she was the one who had intruded their private space, wasn't she?
Vance felt irritable. He didn't know why she would always want to own up to things. She wasn’t in the wrong in this matter!
"Okay." Vance said.
"Uhm, can I say one more thing? " Viola asked suddenly.
"Go on." Vance wanted to hear what she had in mind.
"The girl is so beautiful, and she looks sweet and gentle. I wish the two of you happiness." Viola said with a smile. If anything, she didn't want the two of them to break up.
"Stay away from her." Vance said impatiently.
The smile on Viola's lips froze.
