Chapter 51: Left

Chapter 51: Left

Viola's movements froze when she heard the unfriendly and overly hostile question from the person who had just entered. She stopped what she was doing and turned to look at the source of the voice.
It was a girl her age. She had grey eyes and an oval face. Just like her, she was also slim and had attractive facial features. It wasn't time to scrutinize such, though. She had to focus on what was happening.
"You are?" Viola wasn't in a hurry. She just wanted to know why this lady was so hostile despite the fact that it was her first time meeting her.
"I'm Amber, Vance's boyfriend." The girl introduced herself proudly.
Viola looked at the girl and felt that the girl wasn't bluffing. She wasn't the kind to be a third wheel in people's relationship. She figured it would be better if she left. She wondered why Vance brought her there when he knew he had a girlfriend. Didn't he stop to think that it would bring a lot of misunderstandings?
"I see. I should get going." Viola said and began packing up Vance's stuff. The laptop and other things he had given her. She made sure to return them to his study before she left.
She called a cab and went back home. Since her parents were still at the hospital, she was the only one who was around with the servants. She was so tired, so as soon as she got home, she showered and went to bed. It had been so long since she felt the comfort of her bed. She had told the servants not to disturb her because if she needed something from them, she would just call them instead.

When Amber saw that Viola left without causing a ruckus, she was somewhat disappointed. She was scared of Viola's beauty because it made her look interiors and lacking. If someone said Amber was pretty, then Viola was definitely enchantingly beautiful. Nothing on her had flaws. Any girl would feel inferior just by looking at her. Also, the fact that she was always composed no matter the situation added to her points. But a smirk formed on Amber's lips. At least she knew her place. She had made sure to make her understand that only she could have Vance. No one else could. Maybe over her dead body.
When the servants saw Amber, they all began to cower except the butler. He had to remain composed. But deep down, he was cursing the stars. Why was the she-devil there all of a sudden? He knew their day was going to be hell. Everyone knew of her bossy and arrogant nature. They didn't dare go against her whenever she made her demands known. This was the result that she wanted.
She sat on the couch and commanded the butler;
"Serve me some tea."

When Vance got back home, an imperceptible smile flashed across his face. He had missed seeing Viola. Maybe just the sight of her was enough to make his good mood last. When he alighted from his car, he saw the butler standing at the side and wringing his hands. Vance frowned. He didn't know why but he suddenly had a bad feeling. He just couldn't put a finger on what that feeling was all about.
"What is it?" Vance knew the butler had something to report to him, so he asked.
"Sir, the miss left." It took the butler a lot of willpower to say this because he knew the reaction to expect.
Sure enough, the air around Vance dropped to a chilling point. Even the butler felt as though he was in an ice cellar. But what could he do? It was his duty to report.
"Tell me what happened." Vance said coldly. He wanted to know who dared to go against him. He would show them what it meant to face his wrath. The butler filled him in on everything that happened and the fact that Amber was still at the fortress.
"I understand. You may go back." Vance said slowly. The butler knew he was trying not to explode at that moment.
Vance made his way into the house.
"Hey, you're here already?I-" Just as Amber was about to continue with what she wanted to say, her eyes widened in horror. Her face also instantly turned ghastly pale by what she was witnessing at that moment.
