Chapter 167 The morning after
Third Person POV

Caden approached Lilian's bedroom with a heavy heart, ready to explain everything to his daughter. The events of the past week had been tumultuous, and he needed her to understand why he hadn't told her about him and Aurora.

But as he reached for the door, something felt off. The door was slightly ajar, and the scent of sweat and sex hung thick in the air.

Pushing the door open, Caden's eyes widened in shock at the sight before him. Lilian was in bed, naked and tangled in sheets, with a man beside her. His heart dropped when he recognized the man-it was Caleb, his twin brother. Rage ignited within him like a wildfire. "You son of a bitch!" Caden roared, storming into the room.

Caleb barely had time to react before Caden's fist connected with his jaw, sending him reeling back onto the bed. Lilian screamed, pulling the sheets up to cover herself as the brothers clashed violently.

"What the hell are you doing?" Caleb shouted, scrambling to defend himself as Caden swung again.

"You dare touch my daughter?!" Caden bellowed, his voice a mixture of anger and betrayal.

Caleb blocked the next punch, shoving Caden back. "I didn't know she was your daughter, damn it!"

The room was chaos-sheets torn from the bed, furniture knocked askew. Lilian clutched the sheets to her chest, eyes wide with fear and confusion. The brothers grappled, throwing punches and snarling curses.

Suddenly, Aurora appeared in the doorway, her eyes widening in horror at the scene. "Caden! Caleb! Stop it!"

Her voice cut through the madness, but the brothers were too far gone in their rage to listen. Aurora rushed forward, trying to pull Caden away from Caleb, but he was unrelenting.

"Get off him, Caden!" Aurora shouted, tears of frustration in her eyes. "This isn't solving anything!"

Finally, Caleb managed to push Caden off him, both men panting heavily, their faces flushed with anger and exertion. The room reeked of sweat and sex, the evidence of what had transpired between Caleb and Lilian unmistakable.

Caleb glared at Caden, wiping a trickle of blood from his lip. "I didn't know, Caden. I didn't know she was your daughter."

Lilian, still clutching the sheets, looked between the two men with wide, tear-filled eyes. " Dad...I'm sorry. I didn't know either."

Aurora stood between them, her presence a calming force amidst the chaos. "We need to talk about this," she said softly, her voice steady despite the turmoil. "Fighting won't fix anything.

Caden's fists clenched and unclenched at his sides, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He looked at Lilian, then at Caleb, his heart torn between rage and sorrow.

"Fine," he muttered, stepping back. "We'll talk. But this isn't over."

Aurora placed a comforting hand on Caden's arm, guiding him out of the room. Lilian and Caleb remained behind, both stunned and shaken by the morning's events. The room, now silent except for their heavy breathing, was a stark contrast to the violence and passion that had just erupted within its walls.

Lilian sat on the edge of the bed, the sheets clutched tightly around her, tears streaming down her face. The room was a mess, a testament to the violent confrontation between the twin brothers. Caleb, still catching his breath, stood a few steps away, his eyes fixed on Lilian with a mixture of confusion and anger.

"I'm sorry," Lilian sobbed, her voice trembling. "I... I was drunk. I didn't know what I was doing."

Caleb's expression darkened, his jaw tightening. He took a step closer, his eyes blazing with anger. "Drunk? You were not drunk, Lilian. We both know that."

Lilian shook her head, the tears falling faster. "I don't remember, Caleb. Everything is so blurry. I must have been... I wouldn't have... Oh God, what have I done?"

Caleb's hands clenched into fists at his sides. "Don't lie to me, Lilian. Last night was special. We were both sober. We talked, we connected. You can't just erase that by claiming you were drunk."

Lilian looked up at him, her eyes wide and desperate. "I'm not trying to erase anything, I just... I don't know how to deal with this. My father, you... Everything is so messed up."

Caleb's anger flared. He crossed the room in a few swift strides, stopping just short of her." You think you can just cry and say you were drunk to make it all go away? No, Lilian. You can't do that. What we shared was real. You felt it too, I know you did."

Lilian flinched at the intensity of his words, her tears falling onto the sheets. "I'm sorry, Caleb. I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say."

Caleb's expression softened for a moment, a flicker of pain crossing his features. "You don't need to say anything. Just don't lie to yourself. Don't lie to me."

He turned away, running a hand through his hair in frustration. The silence in the room was deafening, the weight of their emotions hanging heavy in the air. Lilian's sobs grew quieter, her body trembling with the effort to hold herself together.

Caleb glanced back at her, his voice softer but still tinged with hurt. "I thought last night meant something. I thought we were starting something new, something real. If you can't accept that, then maybe you should take some time to figure out what you really want." Lilian nodded, her tears still flowing. "I need time, Caleb. Please, just give me some time." Caleb sighed, the anger slowly ebbing away to be replaced by a deep sadness. "Take all the time you need. But don't think for a second that you can just drink away what happened between us. We both know better than that."

With that, he turned and left the room, leaving Lilian alone with her thoughts and regrets. The door closed softly behind him, but the echo of their confrontation lingered in the air, a painful reminder of the night they had shared and the uncertain future that lay ahead.
