CHAPTER 23: PROPHESY
[Azteca Creed Pack’s Penthouse Suite].
Alpha Liam's expression hardened while staring at the five Alphas inside his suite. His jaw clenched, and his fist curled up in anticipation. Time's running, but some seats are still vacant.
"Did you summon the merciless Alpha?" he asked with an annoyed expression.
Alpha Dale's shoulders slumped down as he shook his head in response. "No, Liam. I couldn't persuade him at all. He's scheduled on a Southwest expedition."
Alpha Liam shifted his gaze to the right, controlling every muscle on his face.
Still, frustration was visible in his eyes, as his desire to make Alpha Isaac run out of patience was busted.
"I was expecting all eight Alphas to be here," he said while tapping a disappointed finger at the table.
Alpha Dale lowered his head. "I don't think he wanted to hear about you and your Luna, either."
A devious look in his eyes showed up in an instant. "Well, he's giving me the impression that he suddenly accepted defeat. Should I take it as good news?"
Alpha Jack chortled. "Quit it, Liam! He's not that kind of guy."
His lips curled into a grin. "Awe! Does it mean you still idolize your precious Isaac?"
"Idolize?" Alpha Jack blurted. "You're full of shit, Liam!"
A soft chuckle escaped Alpha Liam's lips as he continued to mock his fellow alpha.
"So do you for being a fan, Jack the beast."
He was laughing hard when Alpha Lester interrupted. Gradually, the curses from the two alphas began to settle as the other alphas agreed to peace.
"Let’s save the arguments. One more Alpha, and we'll begin the discussion," he added while staring at Alpha Jack.
"Nathan is definitely taking a lot of time," Alpha Raze groaned.
Alpha Dale glared at him, then at the rest of the Alphas, who were also losing patience minute by minute.
Alpha Liam's grin grew wider. "What happened to you, Dale? You are taking things seriously today."
He just gave him a scornful look. "I have another appointment after this, Liam."
Alpha Lester shook his head. "Do you mean playboy's time?"
"Mind your own business, Lest."
There was a long silence before a man in an expensive white suit entered the room. His jade-green eyes and flashy smile made all the Alphas frown.
"Here comes the bride," Alpha Jack said bitterly.
Alpha Lester breathed hard. "The most beautiful Alpha, who loves showing off on the big screen is here."
Alpha Nathan's eyes flashed black upon staring at them. "Fuck off, jerks!"
Felt the urge to say something, Alpha Dale smiled at his guest.
"Thanks for answering my request, Nathan. I know you're too busy filming your next movie and you have no interest in pack meetings."
Alpha Nathan blew a deep breath. "What is it this time, Dale?" His face expressed a strong dislike for what was happening. "You told me it's a crucial matter, so I hastened out."
"I guess it's not rude to ask for the brilliant and handsome Alpha's stamp?" said Alpha Jack, who jolted out to reach his fellow alpha's position.
"You never learn your lessons, Jack." Alpha Nathan growled in disapproval, sparking a fire from their past arguments. "Why did you of all people become the Alpha instead of your twin brother?"
Jack stepped forward, his eyes vivid. "Because I am the strongest and the wisest in the pack, as you can see."
Alpha Liam was unable to conceal his amusement as he observed the men in front of him. It's because of his plan that they were gathered in one location, and arguments began to appear one after another.
"It seems like you're holding back a grin, Alpha Liam."
As much as he wanted to conceal the emotion, it was all over his face.
"I just love the stony expression on your faces."
Alpha Raze gave him a dagger look. "All of this mess started because of you, Liam."
"Don't you want to blame the primal mating rituals of the werewolves?" he said to counter the allegation.
Alpha Raze's jaw clenched. "I am aware of the mate pull, but you should have rejected your Luna and destroyed the final remnant of the Creeze Bloody War."
At that moment, Alpha Liam wasn't able to control his amused expression. Thinking that Alpha Raze was an ass for saying those words straight to his face.
"Why should I kill the Silverline rogue when I can use her power to strengthen my pack?"
Alpha Jack heaved an irritated breath. "Is it for your pack or just for yourself? Dick head!"
Alpha Dale breathed in and nodded. "You just mistook an Alpha for a Luna, Liam."
He couldn't help but stare playfully at Alpha Dale as he spoke. "I did choose her. Just like you collected the girls who caught your attention."
Dale cleared his throat and scratched his chin before speaking again. "Lauren said if I didn't find a mate in time, I'd go crazy and die, but that didn't happen because I found my mate while enjoying my time with others."
Alpha Jack gasped. "Another dick head!"
The conversation was enough to break Alpha Clint's silence. "Are you truly aware of your Luna's true nature?" he asked with eyes enough to question his soul.
Judging from where his voice was coming, Alpha Liam knew that his fellow wolf appeared to be talking using his foresight.
"Of course I am. I'm not like Jack, who would see her as a regular she-wolf."
Alpha Jack's brows furrowed. "Mention my name again, and you'll regret it, Liam."
He smiled widely. "Isn't it you who should regret your actions last night? I'm sure the elders would be disappointed if word got out about the five Alphas failing to notice the Silverline rogue's true nature."
Alpha Clint closed his eyes and gritted his teeth to stop the other alphas from butting in.
"If we don't take this matter seriously, I guarantee she'll start another war as her parents did. No man, woman, or child will survive the war."
Despite the warning, Alpha Liam gave them an assurance.
"Your prophecies can change, Clint. They’re not a hundred percent accurate. Why don't you just admit that you're terrified of the ghost from the past? All of us witnessed the war that killed thousands of our kind. Do you remember how the Alphas and all the forces from the seven packs worked together to beat a single force? Nineteen years have passed…But we are still bothered by the smell of rotting corpses and blood."
The six Alphas drop their gazes, looking defeated by the memories of the Creeze Bloody War.
"And your Luna is the sole survivor of the pack that started them all, Alpha Liam."
