Chapter 66 MY FIRST KISS IS SPECIAL
••Roman••
I didn’t expect Luci’s next move.
She stayed still for a while, as if she was trying to process the words I had just said. "You are going home for Christmas." Her eyes remained fixed on mine, wide and searching, like she needed confirmation that this wasn’t another teasing promise or something temporary.
Then suddenly, like an activated bomb, she jumped on me. She wrapped her arms around me excitedly, wriggling against me as laughter escaped her lips, and the force of her movement sent us both crashing onto the bed. We landed flat, her body on top of mine, our faces only inches apart. The mattress dipped beneath our weight, and for a second everything felt weightless.
Then the reality registered. She froze abruptly.
"Hnm… hmm," she cleared her throat awkwardly. "I was just… sorry… um."
She struggled to find words, her confidence suddenly dissolving into shyness. She detached her arms from around me and tried adjusting her position, clearly attempting to escape the intimacy of the moment.
I held her back gently.
"Hold on. Your hair."
A small piece of cotton had gotten tangled in her hair during the fall. I reached up carefully to remove it. As I lifted my head slightly to get closer, our faces moved nearer, close enough that I could feel her breath brushing against my skin.
That was when I noticed her lips. I
I didn’t know why I am only realizing how attractive they were now, when they had been right in front of me all along. My attention shifted completely from her hair to her lips. I found myself staring at them longer than necessary, drawn in without effort.
"I think we should…" she began.
I didn’t let her finish. I closed the distance and locked my lips with hers.
Her lips were unbelievably soft. My hand instinctively moved to hold her closer as I deepened the kiss, slowly at first, testing the moment. When she didn’t resist, and she actually melted into it, something inside me ignited.
I tilted my head slightly, letting the kiss grow deeper, more certain. She responded naturally, her fingers curling lightly against me as our breaths blended together. The world narrowed down to nothing but her.
For a moment, nothing else existed.
Just Luciana.
I moved closer, completely consumed, savoring the feeling of finally kissing her the way I had wanted to for so long.
Then—
A knock sounded on the door.
I ignored it.
Another knock followed immediately, louder this time.
We paused reluctantly, still tangled together, neither of us ready to pull away. Before we could even move properly, the door burst open.
Who the hell...
••Luciana••
This moment was everything I had secretly dreamed of.
It was slow, sweet, and deeply sensual without trying too hard. His warm body pressed against mine, steady and protective, while his familiar cologne surrounded me. The bed already carried his scent, but it felt entirely different smelling it directly from him, from the warmth of his skin and the closeness between us.
My heart beat so loudly I was certain he could hear it.
His hands moved gently through my hair before tracing softly along my cheek, sending small waves of warmth through my body. Every touch felt intentional, careful, as though he was learning me piece by piece.
Then everything shattered with the knock on the door.
Before we could even adjust ourselves, the door burst open.
Mildred walked in.
The brightness she usually carried was gone. Her eyes lacked their usual sparkle, and her hands fidgeted nervously as she stood near the entrance. She looked smaller somehow, unsure, almost frightened.
"What is it, Mildred?" Roman asked when she remained silent.
"I… I need to say something to you both," she mumbled.
Something was clearly wrong.
"Come and talk to us, Mildred," I said gently, beckoning her closer.
She walked slowly toward the bed. Roman and I had already sat upright properly, trying to compose ourselves. Completely unaware of the moment she had interrupted, Mildred sat at the far end of the bed, staring down at her fingers, picking at invisible dust
.
"Just talk already," Roman said impatiently.
I signaled for him to calm down. Harshness wouldn’t help her speak, and if something could make Mildred this shaken, then it had to be serious.
"Mildred, you can tell us what the matter is. We are here to listen," I said softly.
She raised her head, eyes glossy. "I'm sorry, Luci… I’m sorry, Roman."
"Sorry about what?" I asked carefully.
"It was me… I planned it."
Roman opened his mouth to say something, his anger already rising, but I gestured for him to stay quiet. I didn’t trust him to handle this calmly yet.
"We don’t understand, Mildred," I explained gently.
She swallowed.
"I thought Andrian’s accident happened because of you," she said slowly. "I didn’t want you to be with Roman because I was scared he would get hurt too."
She paused, gathering courage.
"That’s why I sent those messages… the ones asking you to come to Pier Twelve. I wanted to scare you so you wouldn’t go through with the marriage. But when I saw how Roman truly felt about you, I stopped. I’ve wanted to confess for a long time, but I didn’t know how."
I understood it all immediately.
That explained everything.
Her strange behavior the other day she came to the room and ran out before she could speak.
Why Damian and Antonio couldn’t trace the sender.
Roman’s anger became visible instantly.
"I am responsible for protecting you, not the other way around, Mildred," he said sharply. "What the hell were you thinking?"
"Roman, don’t," I stopped him quickly.
"It's fine, Mildred. You can go to your room," I told her calmly.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice breaking.
"Your reasons don’t justify your actions," I said gently, "but I understand why you did it."
She nodded weakly before standing up. She looked at both of us one last time before leaving the room quietly.
The door closed, and silence followed.
"I should also apologize," I said after a moment.
"Not for her. She acted stupidly toward you," Roman replied immediately.
"I’m apologizing for my own mistake," I explained. "I should have told you about the messages back then. I shouldn’t have tried to handle everything alone."
"It's alright, Luci," he said more softly. "We were in a different place then. I understand that trusting me wasn’t easy."
"So please forgive Mildred too."
He grimaced slightly. "Her? Not that easy."
"Please."
He exhaled slowly. "Okay… okay. I heard you."
"Thank you," I smiled.
"Now come here, Princess," he said, moving closer and wrapping his arm around my waist.
Heat rushed to my cheeks. "That was my first kiss," I admitted shyly.
He smiled, and his eyes softened. "Then let’s make it even more special."
He leaned closer, and this time I closed my eyes willingly, ready for him.
His lips met mine again. The kiss was deeper, calmer, filled with understanding this time. His hand rested securely at my waist while mine rose to his shoulder, grounding myself in the moment.
The kiss deepened slowly, carrying promises neither of us needed to say aloud.
And this time…
nobody interrupted.
