"Stop the car." She said and Liam kept on driving, not listening to her.
"Liam, stop the car!" She hit the board hardly and his jaw ticked as he looked at her angrily.
"You don't expect me to sit still here while those kids are down there with him!" She said.
"I'm not asking you to sit still, Alexa. I'm saying we should go there together." Liam proposed and she sighed.
"I can't." She shook her head, licking her dry lips, "I'm not risking anyone's life. Especially not Alice and Jade's. Okay?" She said.
"You are kidding if you think I would let you go myself." His hands tightened on the steering wheels tightly as he stared right at the road. In two more minutes, he'd be right at the destination and he sure as hell wasn't letting her meet Ryder alone.
"He wants me, Liam. You know that."
"Precisely the reason I'm not going to let you go yourself!" Liam shot.
"Do as you wish." She said and before the car could stop, she opened the door about to jump out. Liam's eyes widened as he immediately stretched his hand and pulled the door close sharply, locking it from his side. His heart beat dangerously as he tried to manoeover the car to a full stop, the engine revving as he did, the tire rolled down stones, crashing with sand spluttering around them.
"Are you......" He shut up before his question could come out too angrily and hard. He had to be calm with her. She was scared. He watched as a trickle of sweat rush down her face and more. She stared at him, her chest heaving fast. They had just almost lost their life due to her silly mistake. She wouldn't admit that.
Liam saw her hands tremble slightly in between her laps and he sighed, rubbing his hand over his hair in frustration.
"I know you are scared." He muttered, capturing her hands in his. She blinked, a breath escaping her lips.
"He should have just attacked me instead. What if something bad happened to Jade?" She looked in-between his eyes and he shook his head.
"Over my body, Alexa. Over my dead body would I sit and watch my daughter get hurt. So please, let me accompany you. We'll let him know we don't have any weapons with us. There's a tracker on this car and there's one on my phone. The police would find us where he is. Till then, Alexa, I would keep everyone safe." He said.
Her eyes faltered in disbelieve but his words were it, his eyes portrayed that and with a beating heart, Alexa nodded. He would protect them and she would do her best too. She would.
Liam unlocked the car and she immediately got out, in a crazed form as she ran down the road that led to into the fall cave.
Her phone rang and she came to a stop in front of Liam.
"I asked you to come alone." Ryder bellowed, "Did you and Liam really think you could mess with me?" He asked.
"Liam would not let me come in there alone." Alexa shot.
"Alexandra. These kids are in danger. You are the only one who can save them, not Liam. You are endangering their lives by bringing the motherfvcker here." He said, his voice turning crazy. She looked at Liam with glassy eyes.
"Fine. Come into the cave with him. Just like you both took what I loved, I'll make you watch how what you love dissappears." He smirked and cackled before he cut off the line.
"They are in danger!" Alexa's voice resounded and she immediately rushed up the hiking trail. Her legs slipped and she almost fell backwards but Liam grabbed her hand tightly, pulling her up with support.
The caught sight of the cave.
"You don't think he is in there, is he?" Liam asked.
"I think so." Alexa said and was about to run in there when Liam pulled her backwards.
"Don't be silly, Alexa. You can't just charge in there." He warned and she gulped,
"Do I just wait here then!?" She asked, her voice high.
"No, you walk behind me. I can't risk losing you." He said.
A clap resounded from within the cave, light and then faster as a chuckle followed. Liam stepped in, making out the dark silhouette of Ryder from the side.
"Ryder, where are the kids?" He asked, "Bring them out and we would settle this in a manly manner." He said.
Ryder cocked his head to one side, his eyes meeting Alexa's. He smiled, the corner of his lips raising up in a ghostly manner. Alexa turned white with fear.
"I wasn't hoping to see you, Liam. The game was prepared for only Alexa." He muttered and took a step forward but Liam immediately pulled Alexa to his back, hiding her behind his large frame.
"Don't mess with us." He warned.
Ryder clicked his tongue lightly, shaking his head, "You Liam, you don't know how things work over here. You are only good with tackling things upstairs. You follow the law to the latter. You don't seem to understand that in this place....I'm the king. I have two kids hidden somewhere secret and I have you both in my hands. Just a bullet and one of you is gone. Tell me, with all these points, you dare to defy me?" He asked.
"You are so high up in your head thinking you are really that smart. Release the kids or you won't love life after."
"You should have just killed me then." Ryder shook his head, "Give me Alexa and take the kids." He said.
Liam blinked, "Are you.... crazy?" He asked, his voice going high in anger.
"Don't tell me you would save Alexa and let your kid die?" Ryder pulled out someone from the floor and Alexa gasped in the darkness of the cave. Hearing the muffled sounds that escaped and the cocking of the gun, he had a hostage.
"Go on. I have no use for you." Ryder said to the other little girl and she immediately ran towards them. In the rays of light, Alexa saw it was Alice. She immediately caught the little girl in her arms as hot tears ran down her eyes.
She was glad Alice was safe but she couldn't help but feel scared knowing her own little princess had a gun fixed to her head.
"I'll come. But let Jade go first." She said, her voice shaky.
"Alexandra!" Liam shot, his body shaking.
"We need to keep her safe. That's our job as her parents." Alexa said.
"You-"
"Liam, please. Just get the kids out of here safely." She said and pushed him to the side, walking towards Ryder. Ryder smirked and leg go of Jade. The little girl rushed towards Alexa but Liam quickly swooped her in his arms, taking the two of them outside.
"Mommy!!! Run away from the bad man!" Jade cried and Alexa's ears got the voice. She released a breath.
"You are so sick." She spat and Ryder smirked, walking close to her, his fingers tightening on the gun.
"I think I got sick because of you. You couldn't even pay me a visit in jail. I had sleepless nights dreaming that you would come once."
"If you couldn't sleep, how did you dream?" She scoffed.
"Thoughts of what I would do to you kept me awake, I guess." He shrugged and stretched his hand, "Leave with me, Alexandra. I could protect you." He muttered, his eye reddening.
"You brought me here to say that?" Alexandra's voice broke, "Can't you see you are obsessed?" She asked.
Ryder scoffed lightly licking his lips, "I've been a go getter since I was a kid. I got every single thing I wanted. Except you. You broke my records,Alexa. Why the fvck are you so hard?" He gritted his teeth, placing the gun on her forehead.
Alexa stared right back at him, her eyes fierce. "If I leave with you, what else? I could never love you or be yours. You will have to threaten me day and night with a gun placed to my head to love you. Afterwards,, I would be found no matter what and then you would either die or be killed. The truth remains the same, Ryder. I would never fall for you no matter what."
"Fvcking bitvh!" Ryder spat and slapped her across the cheek with the gun, making her crash on the wall with a loud hit. As a result, he hadn't noticed that Liam had come back into the cave.
The harsh pain of Liam's sharp kick to the stomach sent him crashing on the floor with a groan.
"Alexa, quick!" Liam pulled her up and stayed running with towards the entrance.
"If you would not be mine, you can't be his either." Ryder said and pulled the trigger.
Liam's sharp eyes caught the movement and he quickly pulled Alexa to his front, a sharp pain stabbing him from behind. He gasped.
