Chapter 60 60
She laid on the bed, opposite him, her back turned to him as she did everything but sleep like she originally planned. It was the first time in five years being in the same room with him and while it felt good, it still felt foreign.
The rain wasn't planning to stop soon and she wasn't also planning to watch it rain down the whole night, so she really needed to sleep.
"You need to sleep, Alexa. You are not yet strong enough." He said calmly and she turned her neck a little to see him staring at her. If he thought she was going to get into his arms like other times, he was going mental.
The thunder roared on more time and she covered her mouth with her hands to stop the scream that might have escaped in the dead of the night. Her head hit a rock hard chest and she looked up, only to realize she'd rolled into his arms as a result of the screaming.
Alexa, you are just so stupid. She mentally hit herself, about to roll away but he pinned her there by crossing his arm round her waist.
"Just...sleep." He muttered. Her heart raced fast around her ribcage, her body betraying every motion her brain was trying to explain logically. She snuggled into his arms like a small baby and he covered her properly with the duvet, still holding her tight.
And since the rain started, she didn't feel as scared any longer.
7 AM, THE NEXT MORNING.
She let out a small groan as she opened her eyes. Feeling an heavy arm over her body, Alexa furrowed her brows, only to turn and see Liam beside her, holding her tight to himself.
She frowned as she remembered that she had been the one who asked to be in his room last night, only so she could get a proper sleep. It was why she hated rainy nights. She had to be with someone who could hold her to sleep all night.
Her mom.
Her kids
Cassidy and then,
Liam.
She let out a slow small sigh as her eyes traced his face, slowly, marking every description on his face.
Despite being a little over 30, Liam seemed to still look handsome like he had been when she had first seen him eight years ago. Crazy, but if those things had not occured, she could fall for him over and over and over again with his face. His body and all. But he had broken her and would not give reasonable explanation for it.
She sighed, getting up from the bed as she walked to the window, opening it. Cold air blew into the room, the smell of earth fascinating her. She hated the thunders and lightnings that accompanied the rain but the pleasant smell it brought was more than enough to pacify her anger from last night.
The thought of having to get ready from work made her face fall and she immediately left the room, closing the door gently behind her.
Few minutes later, she was up and ready but she didn't have something new to wear. Her phone rang and she picked up immediately.
"I'm already at the ware house." Doreen said immediately.
"I'll soon be there."
"Do you want me to pick you up at home?"
"I couldn't get home last night." She said absentmindedly when she heard a knock on the door. Alexa tightened her robe as she walked to the door, opening it.
She ended the call immediately when she saw one of the workers in the hotel.
"Mr Jordans asked me to give you this. Also, breakfast is at the restaurant downstairs." He said.
"Liam?" Alexandra pursed her lips, how did he know she didn't have something to wear and why was he considering her breakfast?
She nodded and muttered her thanks before closing the door. It was a blue gown that would match perfectly with her skin. He still remembered how blue gowns looked so good on her. But she didn't like wearing blue gowns for business. Obviously, he didn't know that.
She had no choice than to put the dress on and she did her hair, before walking out of the room.
"Thank you." Liam smiled, tipping the waiter when all of Alexa's favorite food were arranged on the table. He had let his anger get the better part of him last night but this time, he would keep it really low.
He heard the light footsteps that were more than familiar to his ears and he looked up, to see her arranging her hair and walking into the restaurant with a more than comported look. She was so perfect and flawless just like ever. She wasn't made for him. He was made for her. Just like a king would fall on his knees when a goddess came, that was how he was to her.
She hadn't seen him yet and she looked around in confusion, furrowing her brows tightly. Even that, made Liam smile. He knew her thoughts. She must be thinking he had just played her a smart one but of course, he couldn't dare.
Her cute frown dissipated when she him and her face turned forcefully neutral as she took her steps towards him. He got up and pulled out a chair for her.
"You didn't even wake when I walked out of your room. Pathetic." Was the first thing she said when she took her seat. He smiled lightly.
"I did. I woke up when you groaned. But I couldn't open my eyes because you were staring so deeply at my face. Like you wanted to eat it up." He said cockingly and she gritted her teeth slowly.
"That's because you have a pimple between your brows. How hard did you frown to get that?"
He touched his head charismatically and yes, there was a pimple. That had not been there last night.
Alexandra smirked, knowing she had won. It didn't have to be said for her to know.
