CHAPTER 113

CHAPTER 113

"No, I won't forgive you."
"Why"
"Seriously? You are playing like you have no clue what you did. You call me your man but you are taking sides with that asshole!"
"Aren't you tired?"
"Tired of what?"
"Tired of being a hater?"
O'Shea frowned.
"I don't hate anyone."
"Really? Because that is what you are doing now."
"You are so quick to call me a hater just because you are over here defending my sister who doesn't want defending because how in hell would she rather have him than that gold digger? She nearly died and she is opting to go see him first!"
"You are jealous!" Megan accused, eyes glued accusingly to him.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"Blockhead, that moron is not worth my jealousy. You know what suffering Bonnie had gone through while you were away and it would have been prudent on your part to just be supportive, instead of embarrassing me."
"You're calling this embarrassment?"
"Where's the loyalty here?" O'Shea
"Gabe, I love you so much but that does not mean I am going to kiss your ass when you are wrong."
"Oh, I know you like Bonnie so much but you are obviously taking it too far."
"Taking it too far? How?"
"Obviously, you care for her but you don't know when to stop."
"What do you mean?"
"Crossing boundaries!"
"Come on, it is obvious that she has no idea what she is doing and that is why I am here to bring her back to senses but now it seems that I'm already failing?"
"And since all your efforts have been ineffective, do you not think that it is high time to show your support instead?"
"Bonnie loves you too but you must let her make her own mistakes as well as choices.".
"Don't you think their love is way too strong for all your hate?"
"I get what you mean. If everyone wants to make me into the bad guy then it's probably time that Bonnie and I part ways."
O'Shea was nearly walking away when Megan grabbed his hand, holding him back.
"You are going too far!"
What do you mean? If my love is being taken for granted to the point that it is confused with being a hater then perhaps I just need to leave her behind.
No, O'Shea, you're not leaving and sorry if you are offended but it is the truth. Regardless of how much you want to protect her. I don't believe you can do it all because she's going to have to risk it and face her fears as well.
"Just because J'onn has lots of enemies doesn't mean that he is an evil person. If in five years time, they can still be as much in love with each other, then I feel there's really not much that we can do."
"you're a man and I believe you need to have a heart-to-heart with J'onn about the future and well-being of your sister and see how you can help him so that they can both be together."
"We all understand that what happened in the past wasn't J'onn's fault and that he genuinely cares about your sister."
"Bonnie's joy must be the priority and that aside. I think we should help them, in whatever manner possible, so they can be together."
"You shouldn't be convincing me. That idiot almost had my sister killed."
“It isn’t confirmed yet if this is done by one of his enemies but that’s not the point, your sister chose him still and we’ve got to accept that. Bonnie needs our support now more than ever.”
O’Shea said nothing, instead, he stood still, staring at his fiancée.
"You're not such a bad guy, O'Shea. If you were, then you can bet your life I would have turned you down the day you asked for my hand."
"Sorry for all the agony you suffer in this matter but the point is Bonnie desires J'onn and we have to respect that.".
“I’ll think about it. Let’s go home, after all, she chose to see him over us.” Megan smiled, “You are such a big baby.”
J’onn’s heart rate went up as he took steps behind the Doctor. He was grateful that the love of his life and his baby were doing fine but he had no idea why he was this nervous.
"She's in there," the Doctor explained standing still beside him at a door.
"She's still recovering so you need to back off from her. Talk at her pace and don't say or do anything that will trigger her. She needs all the love and support she can get right now."
J'onn nodded, "Thanks, Rickie."
The middle-aged doctor nodded subsequently and he excused himself to treat other patients.
J'onn rubbed his hands together subsequently and he hooked his hand onto the door handle.
The moment he opened the door, he saluted the beeping noises of the monitor. He closed the door softly afterwards and his eyes moved to the bed in the middle of the room where Bonnie was lying.
With a very sorrowful heart, J'onn slowly approached the bed and his eyes went all watery once more staring at her.
Bonnie was in a sky-blue hospital gown, she was lying on her side, with an arm crossed over her stomach protectively. J'onn could see some bruises on her body. A few on her face, and her hands.
The moment he reached beside her, he wiped away tears from the corner of his eye, bent over her, and softly kissed her forehead.
Bonnie awoke, slowly opening her eyes. She began crying the moment she saw him.
According to the Doctor's advice, J'onn hastened beside her, and enveloped her upper half with his arms.
"Hug me tighter, please." She sobbed.
J'onn slowly brought her upper body back into alignment and folded his arms around her securely as requested.
"I don't think you're here with me. I was scared. I thought I would die. I was afraid that I would lose our baby and never see you and Melissa again. The truck struck me, I didn't think I'd ever see my family again." She mumbled, sobbing against his chest.
J'onn took a deep breath as a way of holding back his tears, kissed the crown of her head again and stroked her back gently. "It's okay, my love. Cry no more, please. You are with me now and I will do my best to protect you."
J'onn's words did nothing to calm Bonnie down as she wept even louder in his arms.
"I was scared too. I was scared that I would lose you and our baby. I have never been this scared in my entire life, not even when I risked business." J'onn's eyes were brimming with tears at this point but he did not bother to wipe them off.
"I almost lost it, Bonnie. The thought of not being able to see you and be with you again destroyed me. It was a really terrible feeling which I don't want to go through again. It was more than traumatizing."
Sorry you were alone and scared. Sorry that I was not beside you my love. But you did so well and I'm just so proud of you. You fought to stay here with us and that's why you're still in my arms.
"I. I. I never let go, I promise you that. No one ever gets in between us no matter how they try. It's you and me against the world, Bonnie. This too shall pass and we are going to have our own happy ending. I promise you, baby." The two sobbed in each other's arms.
Remembering he had to offer her an ear to cry on instead of any show of weakness, J'onn tried his best to compose himself.
He wiped the tears off his face with his hand and redirected his attention to calming Bonnie down. It wasn't easy but she eventually calmed down.
J'onn brushed away tears at the corner of her eyes and then went on to give her a kiss on the cheek.
"You're still recovering. I don't want you crying anymore. Your health is very important to me."
She nodded against his chest.
"How are you doing? The bruises?"
"My head is sore, as is my body."
"Sorry, my love."
"I wish I could do something to take some of the pain away from you. I don't like to see you hurting."
"I must be strong for our son. I will be fine."
"I appreciate your optimism and I admire your strength. No doubt our son has you in him. The doctor told us he was a fighter."
"Yes, he's a fighter. I'm so glad that he is safe. I was so scared because even if we did get the picture, how were we ever going to let Melissa know the baby wasn't with us anymore? She would be so heartbroken that I do not think she ever recovered from it but I am glad that is not the situation that we find ourselves in at this point."
"Same here," J'onn grunted, lightly rubbing her cheek, not wishing to touch her bruise.
"Not Melissa alone, if that were the case, I could have lost you too because I know you wouldn't be willing to have anything to do with me." Bonnie sat up and looked into his eyes. "What do you mean?"
You get what I'm saying, babe. We've progressed so far already and that would be a step backwards for us. I'm so glad the situation is different. I am never going to let you leave my side."
"But tell me what really happened.".
"I noticed a car follow me after I left the shop. And just when I had believed that I was safe from whoever was following me, a truck hit me."
"It was no accident," J'onn stated.
"I know. It is just unlucky that someone wants to kill me."
"You know it's on my side, don't you?"
"What do you mean?" She asked him inquiringly.
"Did the police say anything yet?" She included.
"No information at all. But they informed us that they were able to apprehend the truck driver."
"You've been safe in this nation all this time but this has to happen while I'm here. Someone is definitely after me and they know you are my weakness, that is why they want to hurt you."
But don't panic, this is an alarm call to have a bit more protection. If looks could have killed me, I would be dead by now. Your brother was outraged at me."
"I'm sorry about that. I really do not know what has got into O'Shea these days.".
"You've got nothing to apologize for. He is just doing his job as an elder brother. I would do the same thing if I were him."
"How did you know you were here? I wasn't sure if you'd notice but anyway, I told the doctor that I wanted to speak to you alone," "Your brother rang the nanny so she informed me."
Bonnie nodded, "What about Melissa? She must have been so upset to see you go."
"Yeah, she was. But I told her I had something to do with you." I miss her."
"I too. But your brother's fiancée said they would come over to the house and sit with her before they go to their place."
"Who are you accusing?" Bonnie asked softly, staring at him closely.
