Chapter 6
Lynn POV
"He did what?" I stared at him. I wasn’t sure Mr. B could even do something like this. Why would he steal and lie? "Mr. Jensen, are you sure about what you told me? I believe you and all that, but..."
"He confessed Lynn, claims he needs the money and because I didn't notice, he kept taking it and... I know he is a good person, and he means so much to you, but if I had kept him around, I wouldn't be able to trust him ever again,"
Mr. Brown is indeed a good person or was... but he knew that we were struggling with bills, and... He knew that we are struggling to stay afloat, and it's not that we can't go find better jobs now that we have the experience, we... I decided to stay because that's me, stupid Lynn with a big heart.
"He means nothing to me," I looked away, he did, but the moment he decides to take what was our, he became a stranger,
"The others can't know," he muttered, earning a glare from me,
"Why not... They should know that he is a dirty low life, who was stealing from us, his workers... Was his paycheck higher than ours... Did we go out and choose to fucking steal... No, we didn't, we stuck around and face our hard times, but not once!" I yelled, "Not once... It ever crossed my mind to steal. I am telling the others," I turned to leave, twisting the doorknob, it slammed shut with a tremendous force, and Mr. Jensen was standing next to me, breathing heavily,
"Lynn..." He whispered, "Please..."
Meeting his stares, I braced my back against the door, feeling a bit intimidated, but aroused at the same time,
Cupping my cheeks, I felt my nipples tingled as he stared into my eyes,
"If you do this, and your friends report..."
"They are not my friends," I cut him off, "I just they need to know,"
"Okay. If you go out there and you tell them, this could be bad for me,"
"How can it be bad for you if you have no idea about it... Unless you did,"
"I didn't, I have enough going on for me okay... One scandal after the next and... If your coworkers report him, my business will be labeled as a joke, a fraud, so, please... Just let me handle it... And as for your money, I will pay you all, I promise... Just... Just let me get the money first,"
Staring at him, I realized how handsome he was, his piercing grey eyes that drill holes in the back of my head, a beard that was ripened but enough to grip, and then his biceps, they were thick, evidence of a strong man. Why was I thinking about him like that, I didn't know him?.. I knew nothing about him, but I couldn't help it, he was a bag of barbecue chips placed with the ordinary ones,
"I-I guess they don't have to know, only if you promise to pay us... Every red cent."
"I will," he mumbled, walking back to his desk,
I need a social life, was I this boring to not know who is he, I thought, staring at his wide shoulders, swaying his hips, with a relaxed body... A body that I will love too.
"Is there something else I can help you with?" He stood over his desk, eyeing me with eyes filled with curiosity,
"No, no, I better get back to work," I twisted the knob,
"And Lynn..." He added, "I am giving you fifteen minutes extra to go yourself a new phone,"
"Thank you," I mumbled, leaving the office, closing the door behind me,
"Oh look, Mr. B got discharged and Lynn is already climbing down our new boss's pants," Floyd teased, Tanya too joined him on his hunt of tormenting me,
"Careful," he added, "That one is wild."
Other than their dirty glares, the day ran smoothly, the TVs were sold, and I was the one who sold most of them, which means I will get the bonus. Staring up at the sliver clock on the wall, it was now noon, time for lunch. Shaq—I mean, Mr. Jensen did say I could have fifteen minutes extra to grab myself a new phone and I am doing just that.
"I am taking lunch first," I announced, putting on my coat,
"Got a few errands to run" I ambled out before they got the chance to come up with a rude comment.
One thing I am glad about working here, and living close by in the area, you can find a variety of different types of stores and offered services, and lucky for me an electronic store was right across from where I worked,
"Hi," I went up to an available representative,
"Hi, welcome to Tele-Command Devices and More. My name is Mary. How could I be of assistance to you today?"
"Hi Mary, I am Lynn... I recently damaged my phone, and I am looking for a new one,"
"Thank you for that information Lynn, can I please have your ID and TRN please,"
"Sure," I dipped into my coat for my purse, pulling out the documents from it,
"Here," I mumbled, sliding it across the counter,
The noise of the keyboard pad filled the room as she punched in my information. Looking over my shoulders, I stared back at the store and my thoughts shift back to what happened in his office... Or what almost happen, was he... Was going to kiss me, or was I going to kiss him... I don't know.
"Lynn... Lynn,"
"Yes?" I clasped my hand on to my chest, startled by the agent, "Sorry," I apologize, daydreaming,"
"I wanted to ask you if want a brand-new phone number or a replacement for the one you had before? Because with a new sim card, there is a new deal going on, you can get up to one thousand free international minutes to call anywhere in the world,"
"I-I—" I stammered.
"It's a great deal, Ms. Richmond... But don't feel pressured into taking it, it's up to you, take as long as you need,"
Did I want a new number, or did I want back my old one, I didn't have any friends, not family, the only person who would call me is Fred, we are now broken so... There is no need for him to call, the only reason I even have a phone is to read, or if Mr. B wanted to update me on anything, he would call, which he would something email to but... He is gone and now it's Jensen,
"A replacement will be fine," I mumbled,
"Okay," she uttered, giving me back my documents, continuing the punch in the information,
"And we are done," he heels clicked across the floor, picking up a box off the shelf.
"Insert your sim card, and the information from your old phone automatically load on,"
"Thank you. How much is it?"
"$250"
"Two hundred..." I covered my mouth, "Two hundred and fifty dollars," I shouted in a whisper, that was the exact money I had on me, it's like she saw it through the leather skin of my purse,
"Yes... Is there a problem?"
"No," I muttered, looking around me as the other customers began to stare at me, sharing low whispers,
"I will take it," I faked a smile as I dig deep into my purse, seeing the cheque that Jensen gave me earlier, too bad this place doesn’t take cheques, I would have to deposit my saving account, only for it to take at least three days before I have access to the funds, I had no cash on me, other thank the two hundred and fifty dollars, I guess I have to skip lunch.
Handing me my receipt and new phone into a small bag, I complained under my breath as I left the store, can you imagine, a fucking phone cost half of the money I pay for rent, I even felt like taking it back. Pushing the door opened, I noticed two things, one, I didn't see anyone, and two, it was quiet... too quiet. Unhooking a bug killer, I tiptoed around, listening... One thing I have learned from the robbery that unexpected the unexpected, this was probably nothing, probably I spent too much time at the store, and everyone decided to close up and go for lunch, or maybe... Someone was keeping them as hostages, what if the thieves’ families decided to retaliate, Mr. Jensen was basically a celebrity and he did kill one of them,
"Lynn," I jumped in fright when I heard my name, thank God it was a familiar voice,
"Mr. Jensen," I spun around hiding the device behind me,
"Everything is alright?"
"Yes, yes, I—where is everyone?"
"Oh, I send them home, I am going to the bank to clear Mr. Brown mess, so everything should be okay by tomorrow,"
"Oh, right,"
"Oh and..." He dipped into his pocket, moistening the tip of his fingers each time he flipped through a bill,
"Here," he ambled towards me, "The bonus... You won,"
"I know," I chuckled nervously, trying to think my way out of the situation I was in, and he must have seen how uncomfortable I was,
Reaching behind me, he twirled me around, taking the equipment from my grip, "Lynn?" He whispered against my ear, his body bracing on my behind, awakening my hidden desires,
"I thought you said you weren't scared... I don't like liars."
