CHAPTER 13

One month had passed, and the system between Achetbir and I continued to cycle. He always ordered me to buy this and that, or he would give me a bunch of paper documents. Thankfully, Serah and Freya were always there to help me out.

"Jandie, come here to the office," Patriza called me through the speaker. I just sneered, then looked at my friends who were wearing an annoyed face.

“Wow, amazing. She seems to love being a fiancée,” Serah groaned as she rolled her eyes.

I smiled at her attitude and started cleaning my desk. It was my habit whenever Achetbir or Patriza called me since I did not want to leave my table messy. I yawned after organizing my things. It seemed my sleepiness would soon begin.

“Are you fine, Jandie?” Freya asked me with her worried face.

I smiled and nodded. “I’ll go ahead,” I assured them and left.

Achetbir was currently in a conference meeting. That was why maybe Patriza seemed to love playing as a queen. Though I even wanted to fight her back, I just couldn’t, knowing that I did not have enough strength to win against her. I was just a secretary while she was the bride-to-be of my boss. It was my job to serve her.

I entered the room after knocking three times. I saw her sitting prettily on Achetbir’s swivel chair. It was really different when you were rich. You wouldn’t need to force your body to move in order to work, just like Patriza.

“Buy me a coffee in Circlebucks, fast!” she commanded me steadily.

I gritted my teeth and secretly glared at her before I bowed down. “Would that be all?” I asked her formally.

“Oh, and also a velvet cake. Out a dedication reading, ‘Happy Month-versary, Love,'” she added.

I grimaced and felt something inside my stomach after a few seconds. I just remember our past anniversary and such. I’d never had the chance to buy him things just like what Patriza was doing.

I smiled in bitterness. Maybe we were not really meant for each other. Maybe it was right that he was with someone who was rich enough to return his efforts.

“What are you still waiting for? Move!” she exclaimed as she snapped her fingers in the air.

I bowed down a little as an apology and then rushed outside. I walked toward my friends and lazily sat on my chair.

“Hey, are you still feeling good? Are you hurt?” Serah asked consecutively.

“The queen wants a Circlebucks coffee and a dedication cake,” I said and patted my forehead.

“What? She really has a weird trip. The sun is shining brightly outside. Why does she want a coffee?” Serah stated in both annoyance and astonishment.

I just shrugged and yawned.

“You need to take a nap first, Jandie. Give me the money, and I will buy that stuff for that witch,” Freya stood up from her seat.

I blinked twice while staring at her. Even Serah was shocked by what Freya said, knowing that Freya was cautious about protecting her skin.

“Are you also pregnant, Freya?" I asked unconsciously.

“Are you stupid? How can I be pregnant? I do not have a boyfriend! I am not also into check-ups, so no sperms are swimming near me. Not unless it is literally in the water which I use to wash my pussy,” she explained.

Serah and I smirked about Freya being talkative. Ever since she learned about my pregnancy, her thoughts could go out of bounds.

“If you aren’t pregnant, maybe you are possessed by enchanted creatures,” teased Serah and laughed softly.

I just smiled and bit my lower lip so I could stop myself from laughing. Freya immediately hit Serah, only for Serah to glare at Freya while rubbing her nape.

“I am just thinking about my goddaughter. The sun is too bright for Jandie to walk in the middle of the afternoon. She might faint,” Freya defended herself.

I was so touched. I never expected her to give my baby and me so much love.

“Thank you,” I said, overwhelmed.

She rolled her eyes at me and took her steps. I gave her the money and enumerated what Patriza wanted.

“I will also put a poison, so it would be fun, right?” she added while walking away from us.

I just shook my head and smiled.

“Take a nap, Jandi, for as long as Freya is still outside,” Serah stated.

I nodded at her and put my head down on my desk to sleep, but before doing so, a specific food crossed my mind all of a sudden.

I pouted and frowned.

“Why? I thought you’re about to sleep?” Serah observed while doing her work.

“Can you please call Fey?” I pleaded.

Her forehead furrowed, “Why?”

“I think I want to eat unripe mangoes with shrimp sauce,” I said, drooling.

She winced and shook her head before she got her phone. She browsed her contacts and dialed Freya’s number. She was about to put it on her ears when a familiar ringtone began to make some noise. Serah and I exchanged stares at each other and put her phone down.

“The stupid girl forgot her phone,” she said.

I pouted more dramatically and leaned my face on my table. I wanted to disregard my desire, but I was really drooling over unripe mangoes.

“Do you know someone you can call?” asked Serah.

In a snap, Caster came into my mind.

I was smiling from ear to ear as I sat properly and dialed his number in my phone contacts. The good thing was that we had exchanged our numbers the last time we met.

It rang thrice before he picked up the call. “Hello, Jandie? Are you in trouble?” I could hear his voice was in such distress.

I bit my lower lip. “I want unripe mangoes, Caster. With shrimp sauce, please. Can you please bring me some here? Sorry for the inconvenience.”

He remained silent for a few seconds. “Meeting adjourned,” he then spoke on the line.

My eyes grew bigger as I felt such embarrassment all over my body. “Oh, God. Why did you answer my call? You were in the middle of a meeting. What the–hey! Go back to your conference!” I exclaimed, panicking.

I heard him laughing softly. “It is fine, Jandie. Okay? I’ll drop the call. Just wait for me,” he said and ended the line.

I blinked many times and staring blankly at my phone screen.

“Hey? What happened?” Serah asked in confusion.

I shook my head and massaged my temple. “I think I just ruined a meeting," I said, then sighed.

“Wait. Was that Papi Fuerocii?” she asked, then daydreamed.

I rolled my eyes and yawned again for the nth time. “Yeah,” I said lazily and leaned again on my table.

Serah was still saying something, but I could no longer understand her words, for I was swept under by the power of sleeping dust.

It felt that there was something that was steadily stepping onto my feet. “What the–Stop!” I exclaimed in anger and looked at Serah.

She didn’t answer, and she only communicated with her eyes. She pointed with her eyeballs to the front, which caused me to look forward.

I was shocked, and my eyes grew bigger. I immediately stood up and exclaimed, “Sir!” before bowing my head.

He was looking at me coldly while he was gritting his jaw. I didn’t know if it was because of his natural anger or what.

“As far as I can remember, this is not the right time to sleep, Miss Mendoza,” he said.

I stooped low and bit my lower lip.

“Are you done with the files?”

I looked at Serah, and she secretly gestured an "okay" sign. Then she went back to her work.

“Y-yes, Sir,” I stammered.

“If that’s so, go to my office and clean my desk,” he commanded, then left.

I slammed myself into my chair and exhaled a deep sigh that I had been holding onto since earlier.

“Girl, I have been waking you up for decades,” Serah exaggerated.

I sniffed and stretched a little. “Was he standing there for a long time?” I asked.

“Gosh, the moment he came right into this room, he only looked at your position. He just called you three times. So stupid,” she explained.

I again sniffed and rubbed my belly.

Baby, please do not be so obvious to your father. I still don’t even know how to say that I am pregnant. For sure, he will accuse me of being a hoe, especially since we have been broken up for months.

“I’ll go ahead,” I said and left.

“What about her coffee? I am sure the witch would wonder why you’re not bringing her that Circlebucks,” she said.

“Psst!”

As if on cue, Freya got our attention as she walked fast to us. I immediately took the coffee and the mini cake from her.

“Thank you, really!”

She gave me a simple tap and smiled. “Hurry up! Your ex might turn into a dragon later,” Serah made me rush.

I smiled at them and walked toward his office. I slowly opened the door after knocking.

Achetbir was leaning back on his swivel chair while Patriza was sitting on his table as they were talking to each other.

I knew that they were talking about business based on what I had heard. I walked forward to them and put the coffee on the table carefully.

“These are your coffee and cake, ma’am,” I said with respect.

“You may now leave us alone,” she said while raising an eyebrow before talking again to Achetbir.

“So, did you close the deal?” I heard her ask.

I had no idea what I should do: should I go out just like what Patriza ordered or follow Achetbir’s command? I was about to turn my back when Achetbir spoke.

“Get off from the table, Patriza. Miss Mendoza will clean my desk,” he said monotonously.

I bit my lower lip and stayed in my place, waiting for Patriza to get off the desk. I heard her sigh and saw her get herself down.

Tss! She was rich, but she didn’t know where to sit.

Similarly, Achetbir used to lie down there.

My face turned red when I remembered we would have our sex here secretly in his office. I shook my head to erase my dirty thoughts and began to sort out the scattered papers and folders.

I quietly did my work while Achetbir remained still on his swivel chair. I saw him lean back and close his eyes. I felt a little pity for him because I could notice the tiredness under his eyes.

“Love, I’ll go now. I have a show later. I need to be ready an hour before the fashion show,” Patriza suddenly spoke and walked closer to him.

“Hmmm,” he said while remaining still.

“Happy month-versary! I prepared a cake for you,” she said and gave him a peck on his lips.

That was the moment Achetbir opened his eyes and looked at me, emotionless. I bowed my head down and continued doing my work despite the pain I had been feeling right now.

“Hmm, thanks,” he said.

“Bye,” Patriza bid and exited the room.

The room remained in silence. No one dared to talk. I could feel the tension as he was staring at me, even if I didn’t glance at him.

“Mendoza,” he called me coldly.

I stopped, gulped, and slowly lift my eyes to him. “Sir?” I answered while staring at his serious eyes.

“Are you still with your—”

He refrained from talking when we heard a gentle knock on his door. We both looked at the door as it opened slowly. My eyes widened in shock when a familiar face appeared behind the door–Caster!

“Sorry for the interruption, Mr. Villa Forca, but can I excuse Jandie for a second?” he asked formally.

I slowly turned my head toward Achetbir and gulped when I saw his eyes glaring while he clenched his jaw.

“Go,” he simply said in a cold voice.

I bit my lower lip and immediately went outside his room.

“I think he’ll kill me anytime soon,” Caster whispered when I closed Achetbir’s door.

“I also do think so.” Unconsciously, I agreed.
