Chapter 9 Caught Her Dining with Another

Chapter 9 Caught Her Dining with Another

Olivia's mind was a mess as she walked to the end of the third-floor corridor.

She reached the door of the consultation room, knocked lightly, and a gentle male voice came from inside, "Come in."

Olivia pushed the door open. The bright office had a long desk piled with medical records and a computer. Behind the desk, the doctor's face was completely hidden by the computer screen, and all she could see was his clean white coat. The man's fingers were typing on the keyboard, seemingly recording something.

Olivia cleared her throat, speaking nervously, "Doctor, I'm Olivia. About my condition, the nurse said it's a bit complicated and that you need to assess how to proceed with treatment and surgery. I absolutely cannot keep this child! Please help me get my body ready for the surgery as soon as possible, or see if there's a better surgical option."

She said it all in one breath, her eyes firm and resolute.

She couldn't hesitate anymore; she couldn't let anything delay this surgery.

At that moment, the doctor stopped typing. He turned slightly, looking over from behind the computer screen.

Olivia looked up and met the doctor's face, freezing in place.

The man was young and handsome, with a gentle gaze. He wore gold-rimmed glasses and was quietly looking at her.

Olivia blinked, unable to believe her eyes. "Jason?"

Jason had been her childhood friend, two years older, always looking out for her like an older brother. Whenever they went to fancy events together, Jason would sneak her away to get dessert and help her dodge the dull small talk.

When she started college, Jason went to Europe with his parents to study medicine. Their contact faded after that. Olivia only knew he later became a doctor, but she never expected to meet him here.

"Olivia, it's been a long time," Jason said, standing up and walking around the desk to sit in front of her. He still had the gentle demeanor she remembered, just with a bit more maturity and steadiness.

Olivia snapped out of her daze, her eyes full of surprise. "It's been so long, Jason."

Jason looked at her pale face, a trace of concern flashing in his eyes. "I heard my colleagues talking about you yesterday and saw your file. I figured you wouldn't want anyone to know about the abortion, so I asked my colleague not to enter it into the system. That's why Luca couldn't find your records when he checked."

So that's how it was… Olivia understood everything.

No one would risk hiding her pregnancy under Luca's pressure.

It was Jason who had helped her by not letting her pregnancy be recorded in the system.

That's why the other doctor didn't reveal anything.

"Why are you helping me?" Olivia asked.

Jason explained seriously, "I didn't want anyone to influence your decision, but I also didn't want you to go through with an abortion under pressure and hurt your body."

He handed Olivia a cup of warm water, gesturing for her to calm down. "Your uterine condition is quite unique, and the risk of an abortion is much higher for you than for most people. If you rush into surgery, it could affect your ability to have children in the future."

Olivia's eyes widened in shock.

How could this be?

Why was she so unlucky?

She was pregnant, yet she couldn't easily have an abortion.

Jason comforted her softly, "I know you're in a lot of pain right now, but your health is the most important thing. You shouldn't harm yourself without thinking it through."

Olivia's gaze dimmed as she bit her lip. "But…"

If she didn't terminate the pregnancy, what else could she do?

"It's okay," Jason added gently. "I'm not trying to stop you from having the surgery. I just want you to understand the impact it could have on your body. Take a few days to think it over before deciding, alright?"

His voice carried full respect and understanding, and he was completely considering things from Olivia's perspective.

Olivia looked at this old friend she used to be so close with, feeling a warmth in her heart.

After getting married, she had almost forgotten what it felt like to be treated with kindness and respect.

The attitude she longed for from Luca, she found in Jason.

Unlike Luca, who was overbearing and cold, Jason genuinely cared for her.

Olivia's nose tingled, and she almost cried. "Okay, I'll think it over carefully. Jason, thank you."

"No need to thank me. Right now, you need to rest and relax. You don't look well," Jason said, pushing the cup of warm water closer to her.

Olivia took a sip, feeling warmth spread through her body. "I'll go home to rest. I always feel uneasy in the hospital."

"Alright, I'll help you with the discharge process," Jason said, going to the computer to handle it. "Do you have any special plans for today?"

Olivia shook her head instinctively. "No, I'll probably just go home."

Jason glanced at his watch. "I'm not on duty this afternoon. I was wondering if I'd have the honor of inviting you to lunch? I remember the restaurant you used to love is still open."

Olivia blinked.

The restaurant she used to love?

She'd been secretly in love with Luca for ten years, and after they got married, she put everything she had into their relationship. She'd almost forgotten which place she used to go to all the time.

"Sure," Olivia said, a genuine, relaxed smile appearing on her face.

Soon, Jason completed the discharge procedures for Olivia and took her to the restaurant.

On the way, they chatted about recent updates, though mostly Jason talked.

Olivia didn't want to mention Luca and deliberately avoided the topic.

Jason understood that their marriage had reached its end and didn't pry.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Olivia saw the name and was instantly delighted. "Oh, it's this place! I used to love their rose cake when I was in school."

"Exactly. I remembered that, so I brought you here to try it again," Jason said, stepping aside like a gentleman to let her go in first.

Olivia smiled, but as soon as she entered the restaurant, she saw two people she didn't want to see. Her smile froze on her face.

She immediately wanted to tell Jason to switch to another place, but Windy had already spotted her.

Windy quickly tapped Luca's arm. "Luca, look! How come Olivia is here at this restaurant with a man? Could they be…" Windy didn't finish, but her implication was obvious.

Luca frowned and looked in the direction she pointed. Sure enough, he saw Olivia walking in side by side with a young, handsome man.

Luca's expression turned icy. He strode toward Olivia and demanded, "What are you doing here? And with a man!"

Windy followed, speaking tentatively, "Are you… Jason Compson?" She smiled. "You and Olivia were so close as kids. I didn't expect you'd still be in touch and even come here to eat together."

Luca's face darkened even more as he stepped closer to Olivia. "Are you feeling better already? You can come out for a meal now?"

Jason frowned, about to speak, but Olivia met Luca's gaze head-on. "I have the freedom to go out for a meal, Luca."

Luca's brows furrowed tighter, his anger growing. "Come back with me right now!"

He reached to grab Olivia's hand, but she dodged, her eyes cold.

"We're getting a divorce! You have no right to be angry here!"
