Chapter 53 Melo Only Cares About Olivia

Chapter 53 Melo Only Cares About Olivia

As they left the party, a cold wind hit hard.

Olivia shivered for a moment before a warm coat was draped over her shoulders.

She looked up and met Luca's probing gaze.

"What's going on with you?" Luca frowned, pulling Olivia closer. "Are you really pregnant?"

Olivia's heart tightened. She pretended to be calm and annoyed, shaking off Luca's hand. "Luca, we only slept together once. There's no way I'm pregnant! Do you really believe those stupid rumors? How boring!"

Luca tried to spot any sign of a lie on Olivia's face.

But there was nothing.

She acted as if nothing had happened, as if she wasn't hiding any secrets from him.

Olivia thought he still didn't believe her and got a bit anxious. "We're getting a divorce anyway. Even if I were pregnant, I'd just get rid of it! I'm not interested in being a single mom!"

Hearing her sarcastic words, Luca's face darkened, and anger stirred inside him.

So, even if she were pregnant, it wouldn't change her mind about the divorce. She'd rather get rid of the baby than stay married!

Damn it!

He was the one who first brought up divorce, but hearing her say this made him care too much, made him angry, and he couldn't control it.

Luca felt irritated. He dropped the topic and headed toward the parking lot.

Olivia secretly let out a sigh of relief, her hand resting on her belly. She would never let anyone know this secret.

They drove home.

Luca was clearly upset. His face looked bad the whole way, and he didn't say a word. When they got home, he went straight to the study to deal with work.

The maid didn't understand what had happened and nervously asked Olivia.

She was just as confused, having no idea why Luca was so mad.

They were getting a divorce anyway. She didn't want her child to grow up without a father. She made this choice to avoid causing trouble for Luca, to keep a child from being another obstacle between him and Windy. If she were in Luca's shoes, she'd be glad her soon-to-be ex-wife was being so understanding.

Olivia didn't bother trying to figure out why Luca was upset. She went upstairs to her room.

The whole night, Luca didn't come back to the room.

The next morning, Olivia went downstairs.

Luca was sitting in the dining room, listening to financial news on TV. When he saw her coming, his tone was still cold. "I've arranged to have lunch with Melo in the company meeting room today. I'll formally apologize to him."

Last night, Luca had indeed promised to apologize for hitting Melo.

But Olivia didn't expect him to set the apology meeting at the company. With so many people around, wasn't Luca worried about losing face?

Luca paused, then added, "You're coming with me. Whether he accepts the apology or not, we need to secure this partnership."

Olivia let out a small huff. "Now you care about securing the partnership. Why didn't you think about the consequences before hitting him?"

She muttered under her breath, but Luca caught a few words. He asked unhappily, "What did you just say?"

"Nothing." Olivia sat at the table and picked up her milk. "I said I'll be at the lunch." She lowered her head to eat, ignoring Luca.

Luca didn't mind. After breakfast, he took Olivia to the office with him.

Olivia went straight to the project department.

Since she was at the party last night, she hadn't had time to contact Melo. It was too late when they got home, and she didn't want to disturb his rest, so she didn't reach out. Luckily, Melo agreed to come to the company for lunch today, which probably meant he was willing to give them a chance and keep the partnership going.

Thinking about Melo getting hit, Olivia felt a wave of guilt. She kept thinking about it while working, and at noon, she hurried to the meeting room.

The table was already set with all kinds of fancy snacks.

Luca was there with Windy by his side, along with a few staff members in charge of hosting Melo.

Melo hadn't arrived yet. Luca was sitting at the table. Olivia didn't know what Windy had said to him, but Luca gave a small smile. When he saw Olivia walk in, though, he quickly wiped the smile off his face.

Olivia didn't care about their conversation and didn't talk to Luca. She sat down and quietly asked a staff member, "When will Melo get here?"

"Should be soon, maybe a couple of minutes," the staff replied.

Windy, standing next to Luca, smiled and spoke up. "Olivia, we really have you to thank for this. Melo was your college classmate, right? He's only coming today because of you." As she spoke, she glanced over at Luca to see his reaction.

Luca's face darkened, and he stayed silent.

"He's coming because he respects Vettel Group, not because of me," Olivia replied flatly.

Just then, footsteps sounded from outside. Melo walked in with two assistants.

Seeing Melo's face, Olivia froze for a moment.

Last night, Luca had dragged her away in a hurry, and she hadn't noticed the cuts on Melo's mouth and near his eye. Olivia immediately walked over, full of guilt. "Melo, I'm so sorry. Does it still hurt?" Her tone was apologetic and gentle.

Melo glanced at the man behind Olivia. Luca looked like he was about to lose it again.

Melo looked away and sighed helplessly, sounding a bit pitiful. "My mouth is cut up. Of course it hurts. Eating is tough for me today."

"It's that bad?" Olivia was shocked. "Then after lunch, I'll take you to get some medicine. The stuff in the company's medical room works really well."

Bang!

As soon as she finished speaking, a loud noise came from behind her.

Olivia turned around, confused, only to see Luca with a dark expression. He had just poured a glass of wine and slammed the bottle down hard.

Luca walked over, raised his glass to Melo, and said in a cold tone, "Mr. Gerald, I was too impulsive yesterday. I apologize."

He tilted his head back and downed the entire glass of red wine.

Melo suddenly smiled and walked over to sit at the table. "Olivia, what do you think... should I forgive him?"

Hearing this, everyone instinctively looked at Olivia, their eyes filled with obvious surprise.

No one expected Melo to ignore everyone else and only care about Olivia's opinion.

Luca clenched his fists, his gaze growing even darker.

Olivia took a deep breath, walked over, and poured a glass of wine for Melo, handing it to him with both hands. She apologized sincerely, "Melo, what happened yesterday was my fault. On behalf of Luca and the company, I'm sorry. I hope, for the sake of our friendship, you can give the company and me a chance."

Her eyes were earnest, her attitude humble, showing Melo genuine respect. She knew the only way to move forward was to take responsibility and hope Melo would let it go.

Melo took the glass from Olivia, his tone softening. "Of course. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even be here today. I accept your apology, and the partnership can continue."

Olivia let out a sigh of relief, a bright smile spreading across her face. "Thank you, Melo."

Luca stayed silent, gripping his glass tightly, feeling very uneasy inside.
