Chapter 50 Saw Her Hugging Someone Else
"Luca, what are you doing? Let go of me!" Olivia struggled, but she couldn't break free.
She was dragged into the break room by Luca.
Luca pinned her in his arms, breathing heavily, anger flashing in his eyes.
"Remember," Luca lowered his head to warn her. "Until the divorce papers are finalized, you're still my wife. Don't even think about having dinner alone with an old classmate or trying to escape this role right now!"
Before Olivia could respond, he leaned down and kissed her on the lips.
Olivia's mind went blank.
This was the company break room—someone could walk in at any moment!
Sure enough, footsteps approached from nearby.
An employee pushed the door open, saw them kissing, froze in shock, and quickly backed out. "Sorry! Didn't mean to interrupt, carry on."
Olivia felt a wave of shame and pushed Luca away with all her strength.
She raised her hand to wipe her mouth hard, her chest heaving as she glared at him.
"You jerk! You're completely insane!" Olivia spat out the words and stormed out of the room.
Luca stood in the break room, his breathing uneven and rapid.
Suddenly, he felt a pang of regret. Had he gone too far just now? He kissed her without her consent.
But the way Melo looked at Olivia was so irritating! Why did Olivia always manage to attract attention from other men, no matter where she went?
He desperately wanted to tell the whole world that Olivia was his wife, so no one else would dare come near her!
Meanwhile, Olivia had returned to the project department.
A bunch of people gathered around her, thanking her for showing up today. They told her that if she hadn't been there, they wouldn't have known how to handle the tough questions from Melo and his crew.
Olivia responded modestly, dealt with their compliments, and felt completely exhausted.
She left the company, but didn't call a cab right away. Instead, she walked along the streets near the office to clear her mind.
At that moment, a car slowly pulled up beside her, and the window rolled down.
Melo flashed a warm smile. "Olivia, what a coincidence." He grinned and stepped out of the car. "Are you alone?"
Olivia nodded.
Melo seemed thrilled. "Perfect, I just finished work too. Let me treat you to dinner to celebrate our reunion."
His attitude was so friendly, and with their business partnership in play, Olivia didn't feel like she had a good reason to refuse.
She thought back to their college days.
Her mother had just passed away, and it was the darkest time of her life. Many classmates had helped her through it, including Melo. Even though they hadn't been in touch for years, she still remembered his kindness.
Olivia agreed. "Sure, no problem."
Melo's smile widened as he opened the car door for her.
At the restaurant, they talked a lot.
Melo didn't bring up anything about her marriage, and the whole meal felt light and pleasant.
Olivia was so distracted by everything going on that she nearly took a sip of wine, forgetting all about her worries over the divorce and her pregnancy.
After dinner, Melo insisted on walking her back.
"I had a great time today, Olivia," Melo said, standing in front of her. "Seeing how successful you've become makes me really happy for you." His gaze suddenly turned concerned. "But there's one thing I want to ask, as your old classmate."
Olivia looked puzzled.
"I can tell things aren't great between you and Luca," Melo lowered his voice. "And I've heard some rumors lately that Luca might be getting a divorce soon."
Olivia's heart sank.
So, word of their divorce was already spreading in high society circles.
Had Luca been the one to let it slip? Otherwise, how would anyone know? Maybe Luca had started hinting to people around him that he was about to be single again.
Melo sighed, his tone gentle. "Olivia, don't be too upset. You deserve better." He naturally opened his arms. "If you ever need help with anything, just let me know."
Olivia was still lost in thought and didn't have time to respond before Melo hugged her.
He patted her back. "It'll all pass."
"Okay, thanks," Olivia said, but just as she finished, someone grabbed her arm.
The next second, she was yanked out of Melo's embrace.
Turning around, she met Luca's dark, icy expression.
"What are you doing?!" Luca's eyes were fierce, his whole body radiating hostility.
Without waiting for Melo to speak, Luca clenched his fist and punched him hard in the face!
A dull thud echoed.
Melo let out a pained groan.
"Luca, are you crazy? Stop it!" Olivia tried to pull Luca back.
Luca grabbed Melo by the collar, his voice cold. "Who gave you the right to touch her?"
Melo was shocked and angry, blood trickling from his lip. He was a well-known figure and had never been hit in public like this before.
"Nothing happened between me and Olivia! It was just a hug!" he snapped.
"Don't think I don't know you've got feelings for her!" Luca raised his fist again. "I'm warning you. Stay away from my wife!"
"Wife?" Melo wiped the blood from his mouth and sneered. "Everyone knows you're about to get divorced. Stop acting like a lunatic! Olivia isn't your property—she doesn't belong to you!"
"Damn it!" Luca was completely enraged, his fist swinging down again.
"No!" Olivia rushed forward, grabbing Luca's arm. "Break it up! Do you want to be on the news tomorrow? If Grandpa finds out, he'll be furious!"
Luca froze. He shot Melo a deadly glare, barely holding back the urge to keep hitting him.
He pulled Olivia tightly into his arms and lifted his chin, shooting Melo a glance. "Listen up. If I see you near her again, it won't just be a punch next time!"
Ignoring Melo, Luca shoved Olivia into his car.
Olivia clenched her fists, holding back her anger as she confronted him. "You've gone too far, Luca! He's our business partner. If this messes up the project, can you take responsibility for it?!"
Luca had completely lost his cool. "This isn't about the project. I guess you're mad because I went after him! Old college friends meeting up again—anyone could see how he feels about you!"
Olivia grew angrier the more she listened. "He was just giving me a friendly hug. He doesn't have any other intentions. You need to apologize to him!"
"And if I don't?" Luca asked coldly. "What are you going to do about it?"
Olivia suddenly went quiet, feeling utterly helpless.
"Yeah, there's nothing I can do," she said, looking out the window. "I'll apologize to him myself. If the project falls apart, you can explain it to the shareholders and the project team! Let's just leave it at this!"
Olivia closed her eyes, exhausted.
Her rejection and coldness made Luca feel a sudden pang of unease. He gripped the steering wheel tightly. "What do you mean by 'leave it at this'?"
Olivia opened her eyes and said icily, "I'm done arguing with you. We'll divorce in a month. From now on, don't talk to me. I don't want to waste my energy on you."
Luca's heart sank, a restless feeling washing over him as if Olivia was slipping away.
He abruptly let off the gas and pulled the car over to the side of the road.
