Chapter 112 Take Care

Chapter 112 Take Care

"Your assistant is on a business trip. Should I contact Windy?"

Lucas's expression changed slightly. Contact Windy for what? "We're just friends. Don't call her."

Lucas deliberately emphasized the word "friends."

Olivia frowned but didn't say anything.

She felt Lucas was acting a bit strange, though she couldn't quite put her finger on what was off.

"Could you stay here and take care of me for a few days?" Lucas looked at her, a hint of pleading in his eyes. "I don't trust anyone else. I only feel at ease with you around."

Olivia was taken aback and quickly refused, "No way. I've got stuff to handle at the studio. I don't have time."

"Just a few days. Once I'm feeling better, you can leave," Lucas continued to plead. "I can have someone help with the studio matters. Besides, the investment deal isn't fully finalized yet. Taking care of me can be considered part of the job."

Olivia hesitated.

Lucas wasn't wrong. The investment deal really wasn't completely settled.

If something happened to him, it could affect the investment.

After thinking it over, she finally nodded. "Fine, I'll take care of you for a few days."

Having agreed to stay, Olivia wanted to find a nurse to go over some precautions.

But after just a couple of steps, Lucas gently grabbed her wrist.

His fingertips were slightly cool, his grip not too tight, but it clearly conveyed a sense of wanting her to stay.

"Don't call the nurse. They're too rough," Lucas said, his voice still weak, though his gaze was fixed on her.

Olivia frowned tightly and tried to pull her hand back. "I don't know anything about caregiving. Staying here won't help much."

"You don't need to know," Lucas loosened his grip slightly but didn't fully let go. "Just sit here. I'm worried I might faint again, and there'd be no one to call a doctor in time."

His words made Olivia hesitate.

He had just fainted earlier. It really wasn't safe for him to be alone.

She stopped resisting but stepped back a bit to keep a safe distance. "Fine, I'll sit on the couch."

Lucas didn't object. He leaned back against the headboard, closing his eyes to rest, though the corner of his eye kept glancing at her.

The hospital room was quiet, with only the faint ticking of the medical equipment.

Olivia took out her phone to check her studio's work group chat, deliberately ignoring the intense gaze from beside her.

Not long after, Lucas suddenly spoke up, "Have you drafted the supplementary agreement for the investment deal?"

"Not yet. We'll talk about it after you're discharged," Olivia replied without looking up.

"No, the project is on a tight schedule," Lucas opened his eyes. "I have a draft in my email. Can you mark what needs fixing first?"

"Can't you check it yourself?" Olivia looked up and glared at him.

"My head's spinning. I can't see the screen clearly," Lucas pointed to his temple, his face still pale. "Just help me log in. I'll tell you what to revise."

Olivia cursed him silently in her mind but couldn't refuse.

The investment couldn't be delayed. She had no choice but to walk over and pick up his phone from the bedside table.

"What's the password?"

"Your birthday," Lucas said without hesitation.

Olivia's fingers paused, a strange feeling stirring in her chest.

After all these years, he still hadn't changed the password?

She pushed the thought aside, entered the numbers to unlock the phone, and logged into his email.

"Which one?"

"The sender is my assistant. The subject line says 'Supplementary Agreement V2,'" Lucas leaned closer, his breath brushing against her ear.

Olivia instinctively moved to the side and opened the email. "Got it. What needs to be changed?"

As Lucas spoke, Olivia quickly took notes, her fingers moving fast across the screen. She just wanted to get this conversation over with.

"Anything else?" she asked without looking up.

"Article three, the frequency of collaboration meetings during the partnership—once a week, in person," Lucas added. "And it has to be you personally coming to my company. I don't trust anyone else."

Olivia snapped her head up and glared at him. "Are you doing this on purpose? Can't we do online meetings?"

"No, core data isn't safe to share online. There's a risk of leaks," Lucas said calmly, though a faint trace of triumph flickered in his eyes. "Plus, I'm not in good shape right now. Meeting in person saves me some effort."

His reasoning left no room for argument. Olivia could only grit her teeth and jot it down. "Got it."

After saying that, she tried to step back, but Lucas grabbed her again.

"I'm feeling a bit dizzy. Can you help me lie down?" He looked at her, his face paler than before.

Olivia hesitated for a moment but eventually reached out to support his shoulders.

His shoulders felt solid and strong, not at all like someone who was sick and weak.

Her suspicions grew, but she still patiently helped him adjust his position.

"Alright," she let go and immediately stepped back half a pace to keep her distance. "If there's nothing else, I'll sit on the couch. Call me if you need anything."

"Wait," Lucas stopped her. "I'm thirsty. Can I have some water?"

Olivia turned to pour a glass of warm water and handed it to him, not saying a word the whole time.

Lucas took the glass, sipped a couple of times, and then said, "The water's a bit hot. Can you blow on it for me?"

"Can't you do it yourself?" Olivia suppressed her irritation, her tone turning cold.

"My head's spinning too much. I've got no strength," Lucas looked at her, a hint of grievance in his eyes. "Just help me out. It'll be quick."

Olivia took a deep breath, telling herself not to argue with a patient.

She walked over, took the glass, blew on it lightly a few times, and handed it back. "It's fine now."

Lucas took the glass, the corner of his mouth twitching up slightly before he quickly hid it. "Thanks."

"No need to thank me. Just don't keep finding things for me to do," Olivia said, then turned and sat back on the couch, pretending to be busy on her phone.

In her mind, she cursed Lucas a thousand times. What headache and fainting? He was clearly doing this on purpose.

He just wanted an excuse to keep her around him.

About an hour later, Olivia couldn't stand it anymore and stood up. "I'm going out for some fresh air. If you need anything, press the call button for the nurse."

"Don't go," Lucas immediately stopped her. "The nurses don't pay enough attention. I'm worried they'll mess something up. Besides, there are still a few details about the terms we discussed that we haven't finalized."

Olivia paused, turning back to glare at him. "Lucas, are you ever going to stop?"

"Just the last few details. Once we're done, you can go get some air," Lucas looked at her, his tone carrying a hint of compromise. "It'll be quick."

Olivia clenched her teeth but eventually walked back. "Go ahead. I'm listening."

"About the location for the in-person meetings—can we occasionally have them at your studio?" Lucas asked. "Sometimes, when I'm feeling better, I'd like to get out. Staying in the hospital or at the company all the time is stifling."

"No way!" Olivia rejected the idea without a second thought. "My studio is for work. It's not suitable for business discussions."

"Just once in a while. I won't disturb your work," Lucas continued to plead. "And I can have my driver take me there. You won't need to do anything."

His tone sounded sincere, and Olivia felt a bit swayed, but she still didn't give in. "We'll talk about it later. Let's finalize the terms first."

She didn't want to keep arguing about this and just wanted to wrap things up quickly.
