Ruby

“We will wait for dawn, then I will fight him.” Alfie assures me. I feel so bad that I dragged him into this. I hope by then my mates would have arrived. I miss them so dearly.

“Okay Alfie.” I know there is no reasoning with Möbius. I just don't really know why he is obsessed with me. "But may I ask why you are helping me?" I ask.

"Well to be honest Ruby, I am an Alpha and it's my duty to protect my people. Though you are not from my pack, I still have to protect you." He says. It makes sense. I don't know what to say so I just keep quiet.

We sit there everyone in their thoughts for what seems like forever.

“You think if I cannot enter I will not find a way for you to join me outside?” Möbius asks in a really loud tone and something passes through me and hits the wall then falls to the ground.

“Get down.” Alfie warns. I do that hurriedly.

“Stop it you will hurt her.” Alfie shouts.

“If you don't want that then come out peacefully. I don't want anything to do with you wolf, all I want is Ruby. That's all I ever wanted.” Möbius responds there is emotion in his tone. He is obsessed with me. I wonder why.

“Then if you want her stop hurting her.” Alfie says.

“I already said to her if she doesn't want me then no one else can have her.” He shouts and this time something else comes flying in the house. Suddenly, there is smoke all over the house.

“Oh no.” Alfie exclaims, reaching for my hand on the floor as he helps me up. “We have no other choice Ruby we have to go out.” The smoke seems to be from something toxic since I start coughing the moment I inhale it. My body becomes heavier, and my breathing labored. I finally breathe when Alfie carries me outside.

“Are you alright Ruby.” He asks his voice full of concern.

“Yes thank you.” I answer looking around. Möbius is standing away from a wide grin plastered on his face.

“Finally you came out." He chuckles. "Now Ruby let's go.” Möbius interjects charging at us.

“I won't let you do that.” In rage Alfie lunges forward counter-attacking Möbius. They land blows on each other causing each one of them to fly off and land on their backs in a thud. It's evident that they are both strong, but Möbius has the upper hand since he keeps using his teleportation and keeps hitting Alfie. He finally corners him and there is nothing Alfie can do anymore.

“Please stop Möbius i'll come with you, please don't hurt him any longer.” I beg as he cups his neck strangling him. I can't let him hurt Alfie like that, it's time for me to help him as well.

“No… no… don't say that Ruby. You need to go back home you need to be safe. I said I will protect you it's my duty.” Alfie says amidst his heavy breathing. His face is so red and the veins on his forehead are visible. I rush towards Möbius trying to stop him from hurting Alfie, but his clutches seem to tighten.

“Stop please Möbius, leave him alone he hasn't done anything wrong.” I beg. I hold on to Möbius arm sobbing my heart out. I feel his clutches loosening a bit.

“Why do you make me do this Ruby, why.” He asks narrowing his eyes to look at me. “I'm not a bad person why don't you give me a chance. Why do you keep feeling pity for other people when you feel nothing for me.” He adds, his eyes not leaving mine. In a swift move, he let's go of Alfie pushing him so far away from us.

“Now you tell me, will you go with me.” He asks walking towards me as I take steps away from him. To be honest, he scares me.

“Please let me go back home.” I beg.

“To those bastards, no Ruby you are mine.” He says his eyes bulging in anger.

“No I'm not, I have three mates.” I say firmly I better die here than spend another second with this psycho. “I don't know you and I don't want you Möbius. You think I'm afraid of you, huh? I'm darn tired alright if you want to kill me then do it.” I shout tears of anger and frustration streaming down my face.

“I'm so fade up with my life, it's so full of drama. I'm tired.” I cry even more, Möbius stops talking and looks at me, for a moment I see the concern all over his face. Suddenly he is yanked away from me in force, and I feel myself on air.

“Ruby no!!!” He cries out.

I had no idea Möbius was holding me on top of a cliff and with him yanked away from me, I don't have any support.

“Take my hand Ruby.” Alfie rushes forward, but it's too late.

My foot slips and I start falling backwards. Is this how my life ends, I try to hold on but to anything but all I find is nothing.

'Owen, Rowan, Damien, where are you.' Roxs wakes up and calls inwardly. We don't want to die before seeing our mates.

I hear the voices of not more than two people screaming in horror. I close my eyes tightly as I wait for my body to hit the water surface and drown. I hug my stomach tightly.

“I'm sorry my child.” I whisper.

We spent the whole day just searching the forest to no avail, I don't feel her scent or anything it's like she vanished from the face of the earth. I can't even sense her, I just hope nothing bad has happen to her. She is all I've got, despite being immortal and filthy rich, the only valuable possession I have is Ruby. She is all we've got, Damien and Rowan are devastated too. We blame ourselves for not protecting her, with all the strength and power we have we couldn't keep her safe. What's the use of all this power if she keeps on suffering because of us. Are we really meant to be with her. Will we ever be able to keep her safe?

We didn't even stop for the night, I kept thinking of how she was and all I could do was wish that Möbius didn't hurt her. Möbius has always been like this, it scares me, to what extent will he go just to take everything that belongs to me?

Suddenly I'm able to feel her, I can feel Ruby, her wolf must be awake. We all look at each other in horror, without a word every one of us tries their level best to find her. She is in danger, I can feel it.

“Hang in their baby I'm coming.” I say as I smoke out and appear right in front of her. The horror before my eyes as I see her falling off a cliff towards the river.

I don't waste any second I jump in following her, I stretch my hand to catch her to no avail, I teleport right below her, catch her midair and teleport right back to the top with her in my arms.

'I did it. She is safe.' I collapse on the bare ground holding her tightly. Her eyes are still closed, her hands are holding me tightly, her breathing so rapid. Rowan and Damien are beside me already.

“Open your eyes baby.” I say in low tone. "It's all over, we are all here."

“It's okay my darling.” Rowan interjects stroking her back. We are startled but we do our best to hide it. We don't even deserve to feel this way.

“You are safe now.” Damien adds. Despite wearing their look I can hear how frantically their hearts are beating. I think mine stopped due to the fear of losing her. If we were a moment late, then we would have lost her for good.

Her eyes shoot open, they look so puffy and red. The anger that's boiling inside me is almost out of control. How dare he do this to my mate. How dare he make her cry like this. I find myself breaking down. I pull her towards me and embrace her tightly. My whole body is shaking in anger. I want to kill Möbius with my bare hands.

“I'm glad you are safe baby.” I state.

Rowan hugs her from behind and Damien from the side. We stay like this for a while before letting go. It feels so natural, it's like we are complete now. There is no awkwardness. It feels right.

I'm aware of Möbius frozen just standing us, I want to kill him with my bare hands but calming Ruby down is my priority. I get up with her in my arms, look at Möbius for a while before looking away.

That's when I notice another man, bruised and bleeding. It looks like he is crying.

“Alfie, thank you.” Ruby says looking at him. He just nods and wipes his face off. Who is he? I'm not supposed to feel jealous now, but something stings right in my soul and I don't know what it is.
