Ruby
“Finally you are awake gorgeous.” I wake up to a strange voice. Maybe I'm still at the hospital.
Ouch! My head hurts, I slowly open my eyes and a rush of cold air strikes me. I’m sleeping on something hard that my whole body hurts. It takes a while for my eyes to finally focus because the place seems quite dark. The air in here feels so thick and a smell of wet earth fills my nostrils.
Where am I? This place is so chilly. I look above me and I notice something strange, it kind of looks like I'm under a huge rock. Omg it’s a cave, a literal cave.
“Don’t exert yourself too much beautiful.” The person says as I try to get up. Why does this voice sound familiar? It sounds chilled but still scary. Everything in me tells me that I am in danger.
“Where am I?” I try to ask, my throat is raspy and dry. A dry cough comes out of my throat. It really hurts.
“I told you not to exert yourself too much.” He says now in an angrier tone. "I will get you some water." He runs to the end of the cave and comes back with a bottle of sparkling water. I gulp it down before handing the bottle back to him. Despite being afraid of him, my throat was on fire so I had to compromise.
“Who are you and why am I here?” I ask as I try to summon my wolf. I need her now more than ever, I still feel weak so by myself I wouldn’t be able to help myself.
“What? You don’t know me? Why are you attempting to hurt my feelings darling.” He asks crouching towards me, so our faces are inches apart. I slowly study his face, and it dawns me, I’ve seen him somewhere, but strangely I don’t know exactly where I saw him. But he looks awfully familiar.
“Get me out of here.” I say in a serious tone, “When my mates find you are dead meat.” I say trying to scare him. I’m sure they are looking for me right now, so I don’t need to worry much. They are always there when I need them.
“Mates?” he lets outs a loud laugh. “Continue dreaming my dear.” He says and walks away exiting the cave. What does he mean by that, did he do something bad to them? I don’t think so, I need to get out of here, my mates must be worried sick.
I pick myself up, dragging myself towards the entrance. I close my eyes due to the sudden light. The air feels fresh and beautiful, I could have loved this place if I came with my mates. A sudden dirty thought crosses my mind, but I brush it away.
“You think you can escape from here?” the man asks, he is sitting outside on a large rock, looking down at me. The outside of the cave is so breathtaking, the river glistens under the sunlight, its water crystal clear. Leaves of the tall trees rustle softly as the wind blows. I take a deep breath momentarily forgetting the situation I'm in.
“Beautiful right? ” his voice right in front of me brings me back to my reality. “Just like you.” His breath fans my face, it disgusts me, so I push him away.
“Don’t you dare do that Ruby or I will kill you.” He warns glaring at me. What, he knows my name? But why don't I seem to recall him?
“What do you want with me?” I ask tears almost spilling out of my eyes.
“I want you.” He says caressing my cheek, I recoil, but he grabs my jaw tightly pulling me towards him. “You better learn to live with me because there is no way out of here my darling.” He smirks. His body features are so similar to Owen's. I don't know why I keel comparing him to my mate.
“You are hurting me.” Tears finally escape my eyes.
“See what you made me do? I don’t want to hurt you Ruby.” he lets me go, and I run back into the cave, if I try to escape now he might end up hurting me. I must hold on for a little longer. I need to give my mates time to find me.
“I’m sorry Ruby, I didn’t mean to hurt you.” He kneels in front of me his hands folded. “Forgive me, last thing I want is to harm you. I want us to live a very comfortable life here with me.” He adds looking at me so intensely.
“I promise to always make you happy, and our lives will be perfect.” He states smiling widely.
“I don’t even know you. Besides I already have mates.” I say as tears flow freely down my face.
“Don’t you dare mention those bastards ever again, did you think I would let you will live happily with them, while forgetting me?” he asks laughing loudly again. Something is really wrong with him. He is not in his right mind. He seems to know us pretty well.
“Who are you, please tell me.” I beg. He aggressively grabs me by my shoulder pulling me towards him.
“Look at my face well, don’t you remember me, all the sweet moments we shared in the underworld. How could you let those darn witches erase me from your memory Ruby, how?” what is he talking about? The underworld? I can see the pain behind his eyes but also the burning rage.
“I don’t know you, please let me go.” I beg.
“You will never leave this place, you might as well make peace with it, you are mine Ruby, that darn brother of mine isn’t going to take you away from me again. I agree your bond brought you two together before but not now, you will never see him again. I will make you mine forever.” He stresses every word. Brother? does he mean my Owen.
“over my dead body.” I yell.
“You are better off dead than in the hands of those bastards.” He claims making me flinch in fear. “If I can’t have you, then no one will.” He says. I gather my strength and push him away with all my might, I don’t care about the pain I’m feeling, I can't wait for my mates any longer. Who knows what this psycho might do to me. All I want is to go back to my mates, I want to live. I don’t want to die.
“Come back here.” He screams behind me as I try to make my way past the entrance of the cave.
“You are sick.” I scream running, I don’t see any other way to use, so I run across the river, it’s more of a stream. I want to drink water so badly but if I stop, he will catch me. And I don’t know what he will do to me if he does.
