Chapter 58
Rosalie's POV
The three of us sat around the dining table, eating the breakfast Olivia had made. I couldn't shake the feeling that she might capture Cameron's attention, even though I knew he had said she was just a friend and an old classmate. Still, I couldn't help but feel this way.
Olivia looked stunning-beautiful, sexy, and classy all at once. Her smile made me worry that she might take Cameron away from me. I knew I was pretty too, but what if Cameron decided he wanted someone else? What if he preferred her beauty over mine?
"Oh goodness, Rosalie, is that jealousy I'm feeling or what?" I thought to myself as I stabbed my meal with the spoon, lost in my thoughts.
"What if what I'm imagining actually happens? What will I do then?" I pondered again, feeling uneasy. I couldn't tell if I was truly jealous or if I was just overreacting.
Oh no, I don't want to be the toxic one who can't handle seeing attractive women around Cameron. I need to compose myself and move past this jealousy. I trust Cameron completely; he would never betray me. I should stop doubting him every time he's around other women.
"It's this jealousy that's causing me to create these thoughts in my mind. I need to stop feeling this way before I get used to it and become toxic, which Cameron won't like, and I don't want to be that person either," I thought, shaking myself out of my spiraling thoughts before I went crazy. I then focused on my meal.
Cameron and Olivia were eating and chatting, their laughter filling the air, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy once again. It seemed like Cameron had completely forgotten I existed now that he was with Olivia.
"Gosh! I need to rein in my jealousy before it becomes obvious. But why are they laughing together like that? Does Cameron even notice I'm here?" I thought, my gaze fixed on him as he laughed, completely focused on Olivia.
"Maybe they just missed each other so much after being apart for so long. I should let them have this moment; after this, Cameron will be mine again," I thought, trying to convince myself that this was the case, even though I wasn't sure if they were truly just reconnecting after a long time apart.
I'm the one battling my own demons while Cameron and Olivia continue chatting and laughing. My eyes were still fixed on Cameron when I suddenly heard Olivia call my name, snapping me back to reality. "Oh my gosh! I got caught!"
I turned to Olivia, forcing a soft smile that felt anything but not genuine. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as I watched Cameron laugh with another woman. Honestly, who wouldn't feel that way?
Cameron turned to me, and it seemed he didn't realize what he had done wrong. Or maybe I was just overreacting. No, that couldn't be it. He shouldn't be laughing with her while I was right there. It wasn't jealousy; it was about the fact that his behavior was inappropriate.
"Why are you sitting there alone and not joining the conversation? Are you jealous because I'm talking to him?" Olivia asked. I had to resist the urge to roll my eyes at her.
"She even realizes that herself," I thought before finally replying to her with a smile.
"Of course not! Why would I be jealous? You two are just old classmates, anyway."
"Alright, you can't be jealous anyway because we can do more than what old classmates usually do, but we're still old classmates," Olivia said, a smile on her face that I couldn't quite understand. I turned to Cameron, surprised. Something more than what old classmates do? What did that even mean?
Cameron understood my gaze and immediately turned to Olivia. I didn't want to come across as this, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about her.
"Olivia, you're confusing my kitten with your words," Cameron mumbled before turning back to me and placing his hand over mine.
"Don't misunderstand what she meant, my kitten. What she meant is that we're more than just classmates; we're friends. The three of us-Maverick, Olivia, and I-are all friends. Just know that you're my one and only," Cameron said, smiling at me before pecking me on the lips. However, the look on Olivia's face suggested something entirely different from what Cameron had just explained.
"Are my doubts about her right? Is she really kidding me right now, and did Cameron not notice it either?" I thought to myself.
"Rosalie, what Cameron said is exactly what I meant. I'm sorry if I confused you, but you'll understand soon enough. We should get along since it's just the two of us who will be living in this house..." She said a slight smirk on her face that felt mocking. I couldn't let her finish; I stood up angrily from my chair.
"Fuck off," I said furiously, unsure if Cameron was oblivious to her expression or simply choosing to ignore it as I started to walk away.
"What the heck, Rosalie? What's wrong with you?" Cameron called after me, but I didn't stop or turn back. That Olivia woman was mocking me, and I could tell she had a malicious plan in mind. Cameron might not see it, but I could easily recognize her intentions.
"What's wrong with her? I was just being friendly, and now she's angry with me. I think she doesn't want me here. Maybe I should just leave; I don't want to cause any misunderstandings between you two, even though she's being rude and her behavior is bad," Olivia said a sad expression on her face. She started to stand up from her chair, pretending to leave, but Cameron wouldn't let her.
"You're not going anywhere. I need to talk to her," Cameron said, standing up from his chair. "There has to be a reason for her reaction; she's not at all like you described." He turned his back, ready to go after Rosalie, but Olivia smirked.
"It's finally working," she mumbled to herself, a knowing smile spreading across her face. She quickly thinks of how to divert Cameron's attention away from going to Rosalie and back to her.
She smirked again as she knowingly pulled a hot plate of food onto her lap, only to scream in pain.
Cameron's eyes widened as he rushed back to Olivia. "Oh fuck! How did this happen?" he mumbled, quickly clearing the hot food off her bare lap. A smile escaped Olivia's lips as she felt Cameron's hand on her skin; it felt surprisingly good.
The feeling she had been craving since they became friends had always eluded her when Maya came into Cameron's life. But now, she was determined to stop at nothing until she could experience it all.
Once Cameron finished cleaning the food off her lap, Olivia quickly resumed her act, letting fake tears flow. "It hurts so much that I can't even stand; it stings!" she cried. In an instant, Cameron scooped her up, just as she had hoped.
"I'll carry you to your room and take care of your wound. Just hold on; I know it stings a lot."
