Chapter 404 The Castillo Family
Leroy quickly stopped her and said to Kerena, "Ms. Castillo, have you forgotten? My relatives aren't just from the Runyon family. It's normal for Aria not to know my cousin. I've already explained this to you, but you still don't believe me. Are you trying to make things difficult for me on purpose?"
Kerena stayed silent.
Isabella couldn't help but smile.
Who would've thought that Leroy, usually so polite and gentle, could curse someone without using any harsh words?
Calista was confused. Seeing Kerena's increasingly sour expression and Isabella's smile, she frowned and asked, "What's going on?"
"Isabella, is there anything you like?" Leroy didn't explain but turned to Isabella and asked.
Isabella shook her head. "Nope."
"Since there's nothing you like, let's go somewhere else." Leroy suggested.
Isabella nodded and pulled Calista away.
She knew Leroy didn't want her to get into another argument with Kerena. He meant well, and she appreciated it.
"Are we just leaving? Kerena bullied you, and I haven't even confronted her yet." Calista said indignantly.
Isabella tried to calm her down. "It's just a few words, no harm done. Since she's someone your cousin knows, it's better to avoid trouble."
Leroy explained, "She's friends with my cousin Aria. I only know her, nothing more. It's not about avoiding trouble; it's about you being pregnant. There's no need to get upset over someone irrelevant and risk your health."
"Who is she? It's rare to see someone so arrogant. I remember your cousin Aria being well-mannered. How could she be friends with someone like that?" Calista asked curiously.
Leroy replied, "It's a bit complicated. Ms. Castillo's mother is related to Aria's mother, and they were classmates, so they became friends. My uncle is quite familiar with the Castillo family. Kerena is the granddaughter of the chairman of the Castillo Group."
"The Castillo Group? You mean she's the chairman's granddaughter?" Isabella was surprised.
Leroy nodded, noticing her reaction. "You know the Castillo Group?"
Isabella nodded.
Of course, she knew. She also knew that the chairman's wife, Freya Stewart, used to be friends with her mother.
Lonnie had told her that her mother was bullied because of Freya's betrayal.
She had wanted to ask Lonnie for more details, but Michael's situation was more complicated. She didn't want to add to his troubles, so she had held back.
Who would have thought she'd run into people from the Castillo family twice in two days? Could this be fate?
"Do you have a grudge against the Castillo family?" Leroy asked, lowering his voice.
Isabella snapped out of her thoughts and quickly shook her head. "No, I've just heard of them."
She didn't want to share her personal matters with Leroy, so she made up an excuse.
Seeing she didn't want to talk, Leroy didn't press further.
Calista was still upset about not buying Isabella a bag, so she dragged her to another store and bought her the latest model to feel better.
Isabella, preoccupied with thoughts about the Castillo family, was indifferent to the shopping.
Calista picked out a bag and asked if Isabella liked it. Isabella nodded without even looking.
When it was time to pay, Isabella realized how expensive the bag was.
But since Calista had already bought it, she couldn't refuse and reluctantly accepted it.
After saying goodbye to Calista, Isabella got into the car and texted Leroy, wanting to transfer the money to Calista.
[She doesn't need money; she needs emotional support. If you can promise to meet her a few more times while you're in Silvermist City, it would mean more to her than money.] Leroy replied.
Isabella felt troubled by the message. Just because she accepted a bag, did she have to meet Calista a few more times?
If Michael found out, he'd definitely return the bag immediately.
Sure enough, when she returned to the hotel and told Michael what happened, he immediately called Penelope in and ordered, "Return the bag to Calista, and buy another one of the same value as compensation."
"Penelope, you can leave now." Isabella said.
Penelope glanced at Michael, then at Isabella, and decided to follow Isabella's instructions.
She nodded to Isabella and left.
"She doesn't listen to me anymore?" Michael asked in surprise, pointing at Penelope's departing figure.
Isabella stepped forward, holding his hand. "Penelope isn't disobeying you; she's just following my orders. You assigned her to me, so it's only right she listens to me."
"You can't keep the bag. You shouldn't have to meet her a few more times just because you accepted it. Leroy seemed honest, but he's actually quite cunning, setting you up like this." Michael advised, analyzing the situation and criticizing Leroy.
Isabella said, "I know it's not a fair deal. But not everything has to be an equal exchange. Although Lonnie deceived me and isn't a good person, Calista genuinely cares for me. She thinks I'm her sister, so she's kind to me. I don't want to hurt her. It's just a few meetings. Don't worry, I'll always bring Penelope and bodyguards. As for Dr. Runyon, he's not cunning; he just wants to cure Calista."
"He wants to cure Calista and uses you as a remedy. How is that not cunning?" Michael insisted, still skeptical of Leroy.
Isabella knew Michael was biased against Leroy because he was Milan's son.
Not wanting to argue further, she changed the subject. "Has the test result come in?"
"Not yet, but I told them to call me as soon as it's ready. It should be soon." Michael replied.
"If there is a blood relation, what do you plan to do next?" Isabella asked, holding his hand.
They had discussed this before but hadn't made any concrete plans.
They had focused on proving the blood relation first, and only then would they consider the next steps.
But now, with the results imminent, it was time to discuss the future.
"I want to meet her, see her face to face." Michael said.
Just then, the phone rang. It was Terry calling!
Michael took out his phone, hesitated for a moment, then answered.
"Michael, the test results are in. It's unbelievable. This world is truly amazing." Terry said excitedly.
