Fifty Nine

Fifty Nine

Ethan's POV

MY HAUNTING PRESENT

My head was so full at the moment. I groaned in frustration and to be honest, a lot of pain, unable to believe my bad luck.

It was so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that this was happening to me.

I swallowed hard and threw my head backward to push back this feeling before it overwhelmed me.

I shook my head as all the memories tried to drown me as I intended to keep them at bay. I had been holding so much in that now I am afraid that I could explode someday if I didn't learn how to let it all go in healthy bits.

I might need to go for therapy or anger management classes. I can't just control the way I feel.

I don't even know what's making me feel bad; is it the fact that Mom and Dad are not letting me rest?! Or it's because I can't stop thinking about Marinette.

If it was only Mom disturbing me, it would have been a lot better, but both of them are on my neck.

After that day in the office, Mum had come here thousands of times to threaten me, and I know she meant every single thing she was saying.

Dad only called, but from his tone, I could feel the intense anger, and if I didn't do something now, they might lose it.

Anytime I see even their texts, I feel like someone is pinning me in a corner and putting me in a chokehold.

And now, my stupid brain and heart can't stop thinking about Marinette. Oh!! How I missed her face.

She is the most beautiful girl ever, and the way she just doesn't make any effort and still looks the best is my favorite part about her.

Even though her dress sense is something else, she still slays. I wonder where she is right now. Or how she's doing ?! I hope nothing bad has happened to her.

I thought of all those times that I had ignored her and said hurtful things to her, but still, yet, she never failed to wait for me whenever I was late.

I miss her, I wish to see her right now and apologize to her.

"I guess what they say is true. Until you lose hold of a valuable before you know of its value." I said to myself

How I wish I knew all these would happen if I divorced her. I would have treated her like the queen she is. Now, the guilt I feel more than ever as I remember how she told me that she did know her parents and that her Grandma was the one who raised her from childhood.

I missed her tea. I missed the way she would always give me words of encouragement and she was always there for me.

When I saw Veronica, I thought I had found what I was looking for, but now it seemed like I lost myself to be with Veronica again.

When she left, I thought I'd never see her again and just as I was about to lose hope, Marinette came into my life.

She showed me love unlike any other. I was so happy with her from the beginning. But everything that happened was just too much for me.

The door of my office flung open and Veronica came in. I was not expecting her, so I was surprised.

"Oh baby, why do you look so surprised to see me??!" She asked as she made her way to my desk.

"I wasn't expecting to see you now. So, how are you?!" I said with a straight voice.

"I wanted to ask for your help," she replied innocently.

"My help?!" I asked raising a brow as she never asked for my help.

"Yes. I have this collaboration with a model company, and I want to win and bring that trophy home, but the other models are also top-notch. I might have to meet with any of the judges, and I would need you to support me." She explained,

"So this is why you are here?!" I asked again, as I knew the kind of person she was; she would just wait till I got home. So I couldn't stop wondering if this was her only reason for coming.

"Yes," she replied,

"Don't worry, I will try my best to help you secure that trophy." I said with assurance, "So, anything else?!"

"Yes. I came to see both you and Raymond." She replied bluntly.

"Oh... I see. You came to see me to help you secure your trophy, then what about Raymond?!" I questioned her,

"I would have waited for you to come home before I told you, But I got to know of something very important and I decided to come here." She began,

I nodded my head in affirmation to what she's saying, so she continued.

"Raymond has a connection with one of the judges, and they are very great friends, so I came to ask if he could help, and gladly, he agreed." She said with a smile on her face.

"Okay, so now that you have the upper hand, I am sure you are happy and half of your goal is completed right?!" I asked her,

She nodded her head and I continued,

"All you have to do now is to go home and get what you would wear and how perfect you would work," I said to her with a beaming smile.

"Yes, yes, baby, and I missed you too." She said as she stood up before coming closer to me and wanted to kiss me but I shifted my head.

Before she could ask what was going on, there was a knock on the door and she knew to get up from where she was.

As I saw that she was already seated on the couch, I finally answered the person who was knocking.

"Come in," I said.

The door creaked and opened gently with Fleur coming in.

The silence in the room became overwhelming as both Veronica and Fleur looked at each other, and from what I noticed, it was like Fleur had some secrets about Veronica with him as she was looking nervous. They didn't break eye contact till Veronica stood up to leave, and she didn't even tell me goodbye or anything.

The moment Veronica got out of the office, I broke the awkward silence in the room.

"What was that for??! Why were you both exchanging eye contact like something happened?!" I asked him,

"Ethan, I feel like Veronica and Raymond are planning something and it's really bad." He said with a concerned tone.

"How do you know that or feel that?! Is there any evidence?!" I asked him.
