Fifty Four

Marinette's POV

Terry's Anger

As Lucy continued to make a scene, I couldn't help but wonder if I was the only one who saw through her deceitful nature.

Lucy's face was not a beautiful sight to behold as she was still shocked by Terry's response, and she seemed like she was gonna vomit.

"Terry, I don't know what is wrong with you, but everyone here can testify that she was the one who did all of this, and all you can do is stand by her and make it look like she's the one who was hurt??!" She roared trying her best to withhold the hit years in her eyes no

Lucy sat on the floor, her mind racing with thoughts of anger and betrayal. She couldn't believe that Terry had taken Marinette's side, even after the hot contents of the dish had been poured all over her.

"How could you do this to me?" Lucy shouted at Terry. "I'm the one who was hurt, and yet you are still supporting Marinette?"

Lucy's anger and resentment simmered just below the surface as she thought about the events that had led to this. She had been so sure that she could manipulate the situation to her advantage, but in the end, she turned out badly hurt.

But as she reflected on her actions, Lucy began to realize that she had gone too far. She had let her jealousy and resentment consume her.

Terry just stared at Lucy as if he couldn't even understand a word of hers. And that added to the anger and resentment she felt towards me.

Lucy was close to me on the floor but I didn't think that she could do anything else. But a sudden sharp pain hit me.

I could feel Lucy's leg pressed against mine. At first, I thought it was just an accidental touch, but as the moments passed, I realized that Lucy was intentionally pressing her leg against mine.

I tried to shift my position, to create some space between us, but Lucy seemed to sense my movement and pressed her leg against mine even harder. I could feel her warmth, her pressure, and it made me feel uncomfortable and trapped.

I didn't know what to do, or how to react. Part of me wanted to push Lucy away, to tell her to stop touching me, but another part of me didn't want to make a scene or cause any other trouble.

I mean, there was already trouble at hand, and we were not even okay yet.

As the moments ticked by, I could feel my anxiety growing. I didn't like being touched without my consent, and I didn't like the way Lucy was making me feel.

I just wanted her to stop, to leave me alone, but it seemed like she was determined to keep pressing her leg against mine. I couldn't understand why I was in so much pain, but my leg wasn't swelling.

It didn't make sense. Usually, when you injure yourself, there's some visible sign of trauma, like swelling or bruising. But in my case, there was nothing.

I looked down at my leg, expecting to see some sign of injury, but even though it looked normal, there was just a bit of redness.

But the pain was real. It was a sharp, stabbing pain that seemed to be coming from deep within my leg. I couldn't move without feeling a jolt of agony, and even the slightest touch made me wince.

I was confused and worried. What could be causing this pain if there was no visible injury? Was it something internal? Had I somehow damaged a muscle or tendon without realizing it?

As the other chefs rushed to Lucy's side, they couldn't help but notice the dramatic contrast between her and me.

Finally, my legs were free from the immense pain.

While I was sitting calmly, despite being in pain, Lucy's wounds looked more pitiful, and she was milking the attention for all it was worth.

But what caught everyone's attention was when Terry came back over to me. Lucy's eyes narrowed, and she immediately started making a scene again.

"How can you just ignore me like this?" Lucy demanded, her voice rising to a shrill pitch. "I'm the one who's hurt, and yet you're just standing there, talking to...to...her!"

Terry's expression remained calm, but I could sense a hint of frustration beneath the surface. "Lucy, I've already told you that Marinette had nothing to do with your accident," he said patiently.

"And all the chefs are by your side already, so I couldn't just overlook her, and even if she had, I wouldn't just ignore you. But right now, I need to make sure that Marinette is okay."

Lucy's face turned red with rage, and she started to shout again. But Terry just held up a hand, silencing her.

"Enough, Lucy," he said firmly. "I've heard enough of your accusations and lies. You need to calm down and let the paramedics take a look at you when they get here."

The other chefs still didn't keep quiet, and they were all still shouting and causing a scene. Terry turned to me and smiled.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern.

I nodded, still feeling a bit shaken. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said. "Just a bit...sore."

Terry nodded sympathetically. "I'll get you some ice," he said. "And then we'll get you checked out by the paramedics, just to make sure you're okay."

Only I took the verbal lashing, feeling frustrated and helpless. The other chefs were piling on, their words cutting deep. I tried to open my mouth to defend myself, to explain that it wasn't my fault, but they wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise.

"You're always so careless, Marinette!" one of the chefs shouted. "You never think about anyone but yourself!"

"That's not true!" I tried to protest, but they just talked over me.

"You're a menace in the kitchen!" another chef chimed in. "You're always causing trouble!"

"I can't believe you deliberately did this because you are envious of her." One of the chefs added.

I felt tears pricking at the corners of my eyes as the scolding continued. I knew I hadn't done anything wrong, but no one seemed to believe me. I just sat there, taking the abuse, feeling more and more defeated by the minute.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, Terry intervened, his voice firm and authoritative. "That's enough," he said, his eyes flashing with anger. "Marinette didn't do anything wrong. Lucy was the one who caused the accident, and she's the one who should be apologizing."

The other chefs looked at Terry in surprise, and then back at me. For a moment, there was an awkward silence, and then they started to look at Lucy's injury.

But the damage was already done. I felt hurt and betrayed by them, and I wondered if I would ever be able to trust them again.

Lucy's eyes sparkled with malice as she smiled, clearly enjoying the attention and sympathy she was receiving from the other chefs. She stood up and looked more pitiful than ever as she limped, her voice dripping with venom.

"Yes, it's all because Marinette is jealous of me," she said, her words dripping with drama. "She can't stand the fact that I'm the new apprentice, and she's been trying to sabotage me from the very beginning."

The other chefs looked at me with newfound suspicion, and I could feel my face growing hot with anger and frustration.

"That's not true!" I protested, but Lucy just laughed.

"Oh, come on, Marinette," she said, her voice mocking. "We all know how you feel about me. You've been making snide comments and trying to undermine me at every turn. It's just jealousy, plain and simple."

I felt a surge of anger at Lucy's words, but I knew I had to keep my cool. I took a deep breath and tried to reason with the other chefs.

"Guys, please listen to me," I said. "Lucy and I may not always see eye to eye, but I would never try to hurt her on purpose. And I'm not jealous of her. I'm just trying to do my job to the best of my ability."

But it seemed like no one was listening to me. They were all too busy believing Lucy's lies and fanning the flames of drama and tension. I felt like I was being railroaded, and I didn't know how to stop it.

"Why can't they all see through her??! Am I the only one that knows her true self?!" I questioned myself in my head as they didn't even bother to listen to me.

"And I had always looked up to you. Marinette why?!" She said looking at me with a sly smile before changing her expression to the pitiful one.

I guess Terry had enough of them as he shouted,

"All you get out of her right now." His voice sounded so loud and the chefs shuddered with fear evident in their faces.
