Marinette's POV
SPECIAL DAY FOR MOON
I stood in my room, surrounded by the familiar comforts of my home. I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment as I looked around at the decorations I had set up for Moon's first birthday party.
It had been a tough year, to say the least. Ethan had left me, and I had been forced to navigate the challenges of single motherhood.
But despite the obstacles, I had persevered. I had worked hard to provide for Moon, to give him the best possible life, and to create a happy and loving home for my son.
As I looked around at the balloons and streamers, the cake and the presents, I felt a sense of joy and contentment wash over me.
I had done it. I had made it through the tough times, and I had come out stronger on the other side.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Moon's giggles and coos coming from the living room.
I smiled, feeling a surge of love and devotion for him. I walked over to the door and looked out, watching as Moon played with his toys, completely carefree and happy.
My heart swelled with pride and love as I watched him. I knew that I had made the right decision in leaving New York, no matter how hard it had been. I had done it for Moon and Grandma for our future and our happiness.
As I stood there, watching Moon play, I felt a sense of peace and closure wash over me.
I knew that I still had challenges ahead of me, but I was ready. I was strong, capable, and determined to give Moon the best life possible.
I smiled, took a deep breath, and walked out into the living room, ready to celebrate Moon's special day.
My face lit up with a warm smile as I received the call from Terry. "He's on his way," I said to myself, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation.
I quickly made my way downstairs with baby Moon in tow, eager to get everything ready for Terry's arrival. As I entered the living room, I was greeted by the warm and familiar sound of Grandma singing.
Grandma was sitting on the couch, gently rocking back and forth as she sang a soft and soothing melody to baby Moon.
The little one's eyes were wide with wonder, and a big smile spread across his face as he listened to his great grandma's singing.
My heart swelled with love and gratitude as I watched the tender moment between Grandma and Moon.
I felt so lucky to have such a loving and supportive family, and I knew that Terry would be thrilled to see the special bond between Grandma and Baby Moon.
As I sat down beside Grandma, baby Moon reached out and grabbed my hand, holding on tight as he continued to listen to Grandma's singing.
The room was filled with a sense of warmth and happiness, and I felt grateful to be surrounded by the people I loved most in the world.
I couldn't wait to see Terry's face light up when he saw the happy scene before him.
I was up to my elbows in flour and sugar, busy helping Grandma prepare baby Moon's favorite cake in the kitchen. The aroma of sweet vanilla and chocolate filled the air, making my stomach growl with anticipation.
Just as we were sliding the cake into the oven, I heard the sound of the door opening and Terry's cheerful voice calling out to them. "Hello, everyone! I'm here!"
My heart skipped a beat as I quickly wiped my hands on my apron and made my way to the living room. I was eager to see Terry and the surprises he had brought for baby Moon.
As I entered the living room, my eyes widened in amazement. Terry was standing by the couch, surrounded by a mountain of colorful gifts and balloons. Baby Moon's eyes were wide with wonder as he sat in his high chair, taking in the sight of all the presents.
My heart swelled with gratitude as I looked at Terry. "Oh, Terry, you didn't have to do all this," I said, feeling a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of gifts.
Terry smiled and shrugged. "I wanted to make baby Moon's first birthday special," he said. "And I have to say, I'm a little excited to see his reaction when he opens all these presents."
I laughed and led Terry to the sitting room. "Well, let's get started then," I said. "But first, can I get you something to drink? We have juice, soda, or tea."
Terry smiled and sat down on the couch. "Just water, please," he said. "I'm fine for now. Let's just enjoy the party and baby Moon's special day."
I nodded and handed Terry a glass of water. I sat down beside him, feeling grateful for his thoughtfulness and generosity.
As we waited for the cake to be ready, I couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness and contentment. This was turning out to be a wonderful birthday party for baby Moon, and I was so glad that Terry was there to share it with them.
Just as I and Terry were settling in to enjoy the party, Grandma called out from the kitchen, "Marinette, dear! I think we've forgotten something very important for the cake!"
My eyes widened in alarm as I jumped up from the couch. "Oh no, what is it?" I asked, already knowing that she had to go get it.
Grandma replied, "We forgot to get the special flavoring extract that baby Moon loves. It's the one thing that makes her cake truly special."
Terry immediately stood up, offering to help. "I can go get it for you," he said with a smile. "You stay here and enjoy the party."
But I was insistent. "No, no, I'll go," I said. "I need to get out of here for a bit and clear my head. Besides, it's not every day that I get to spend time with you outside of the house."
Terry chuckled and nodded. "Alright, alright. We'll go together then."
I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. I grabbed my purse and together, I and Terry set off to get the forgotten ingredient.
As we walked to the car, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Terry. He was always so willing to help, and he made me feel seen and heard in a way that few people did.
The drive to the store was short and pleasant, with me and Terry chatting easily about everything from baby Moon's latest antics to our favorite TV shows.
When we arrived at the store, I quickly found the flavoring extract and we headed back to the checkout counter. As we waited in line, Terry turned to me and asked, "So, how's life been treating you lately? You seem a little more relaxed than the last time we talked."
I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "It's been good," I said. "I've been focusing on taking care of myself and baby Moon, and it's been really helpful."
Terry nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. "I'm glad to hear that," he said. "You deserve it. You're an amazing mom and an incredible person."
I felt a warmth spread through my chest at Terry's words. I was grateful for his kindness and support, and I knew that I could always count on him to be there for me.
As I and Terry pulled into the driveway, my eyes widened in surprise as I took in the unfamiliar car parked in front of the house. I felt a sudden jolt of curiosity and concern, wondering who could be visiting.
As we stepped out of the car, my eyes darted toward the house, and I quickened my pace, eager to see who was inside. Terry followed closely behind me, sensing my unease.
As we entered the living room, my surprise turned to shock as I saw Lucy sitting on the couch, playing with baby Moon. My eyes locked onto Lucy's, and I felt a mix of emotions: surprise, curiosity, and a hint of wariness.
Lucy, sensing my gaze, turned around and smiled brightly. "Hey, Marinette! I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by to say hello."
My eyes narrowed slightly, unsure of what to make of Lucy's sudden visit. I hadn't expected to see Lucy, and our past interactions had been... complicated.
Terry, sensing the tension, stepped forward and greeted Lucy warmly. "Hey, Lucy! It's great to see you. What brings you here today?"
Lucy's smile faltered for a moment, and I caught a glimpse of something else in her eyes - something that looked almost like guilt or nervousness. But then Lucy's smile returned, and she launched into a cheerful explanation of her visit.
I listened, still feeling a bit wary, but also curious about what had brought Lucy to our doorstep.
