Chapter 55 - Evil Side

In everyone’s life there’s at least one moment when everything goes down the drain. A moment when you see red in front of your eyes, your world crumbles and you snap, going batshit crazy.
My heart dropped from my chest, the excruciating pain growing unbearable. A single tear rolled down my cheek as I held in my hand the lifeless head of Alexis, my best friend and roommate, an innocent that never wronged anyone.
Her beautiful jade color eyes have lost their shine, blood is scattered on her curly hair, dirt covers her pretty face.
She had a family that probably doesn’t know what happened to her. She had dreams and plans and real love to experience.
Alexis was kind, caring and selfless, she didn’t deserve this.
This should not have happened to her.
I’ll never see her smile again, I’ll never be able to hug her, I’ll never hear her voice again.
As I acknowledge that this is my fault, that her life ended in a horrible way because of me, anger installs in my body, and darkness consumes me.
“Allaya, give it to me!” Landon reached to take the head from my hands.
“It?” My voice is bloodthirsty and savage, and unrecognizable. “Did you call my friend ‘it’?”
“I didn’t mean to…” He apologizes, but before I could think, I instinctively grab him by his neck and slam him into the nearest tree, with so much force that the impact tore the tree in half.
My brother stares at me in shock, as if my face morphed into a monstrous one. I’m sure it did, for I felt like an unchained beast, ready to destroy.
“Landon…” I whisper in regret, after gathering some self-restraint.
“Allaya, you need to control yourself!” Gabriel cuts in, holding me from behind, which makes Pandora snap again, and she’s difficult to tame.
It’s like she’s feeding on my pain and anger.
I break free, pushing my uncle off me. He is strong, but I feel stronger.
Then I run. I run into the depths of the forest, until my lungs hurt. The last bit of control I have on Pandora fades, and I give in. But it’s not like when I shape-shifted before, this time is different.
I feel myself drifting away, it’s as if Pandora is switching me off, trying to take absolute control. I’m weak and in pain, so I can’t fight her.

We have three days to prepare. Everything is at stake.
My mission is to gather the best warriors from the five kingdoms’ while my father, Alpha Justin and Xander went to assemble a different kind of army from all over the world, using the wizard’s teleportation ability.
Apparently, Xander prepared for this moment all his life, they were just waiting for his signal, and by ‘they’ I am referring to the enemies Morrigan has made in time, and truth be told, they are hundreds.
In fact, I think that they are even more than that.
Also, there are others that have been blessed with a mate from outside their species and they have been living in hiding, scared for their lives.
Why should you be punished for loving your other half, the one that was destined for you, created by gods and bestowed upon you as a life companion? Why?
Rage is stirring inside me and I feel like I’m this close to losing my fucking temper at the idea that someone could be so fucking evil to concoct this absurdly law that would prohibit mating outside the species.
I take deep breaths and glance again at my strong willed, valiant warriors, an amazing feeling is building inside me, I am fucking proud to be their future king.
That of course, it’s probably debatable due to that certain situation. But even if it is, this glorious moment right now will be registered in my heart, mind and soul forever.
We’ll fight for justice, fight for our families, our kind, our magical world.
Many of us have fallen victims of the atrocious Head of the Council, and it’s time to put a stop to his abominable acts and deceiving behavior.
We will shape history.
“I’m coming, Allaya! Wait for me just a little longer, my love!” I mind link my mind blowing beautiful and pretty much unique mate.
I miss her already, but there was no answer from her part.
“Allaya?” I try to contact her again.
‘I can’t sense her anymore!’ Maddox is desperate inside, fighting for control.
‘What do you mean?’ I question, though I know exactly what he means.
The mate bound is weak, as if something is interfering with our connection.
Did she do something to switch it off?
‘Maybe her vampire side has something to do with it.’ My wolf presumes, but I’m worried that she didn’t do it on purpose.
I’m scared that it has something to do with Pandora. Allaya doesn’t know how to control it.
“Is she here? Is my niece here?” Gabriel’s voice is filled with anguish, his face hinting trouble.
He grabs my collar, shouting. “Tell me if she came to you!”
Fear is creeping in my bones. “Why? What happened?” I remove his hand from my jacket. “Tell me, tell me now!”
He pulls at his hair. “Someone left a package for her, a box with a human head inside.”
“H-her mother?” I stutter, for the first time in my fucking existence.
I should not have left her alone. I should have been by her side.
If that devil killed her mother, everything changes. Allaya and Xander would forget about any consequence and go after him without a strategy. There would be many casualties.
Gabriel shakes his head and I release the breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
“A friend of hers, but I don’t know their relationship details.”
“And then what happened?”
“Pandora took over, I tried to follow her, but even with my speed, it wasn’t enough. So I ran to see if she’s with you, and Landon is searching her in the woods.”
I shut my eyes. “I tried to mind link her, but I could not get a hold of her. I could barely feel her.”
“Do you have any idea where she could go?”
“Allaya? She would try to find the monster that did that to her friend, and I’m guessing that monster is Morrigan. But we don’t have his location. But Pandora, I have no clue what Pandora would do.”
“Pandora is a special kind of beast that can do good or evil, depending on the host’s feelings. Right now, I think she’s feeding on Allaya’s anger. I believe the evil side took over.”
Fuck! Just what I was afraid of.
