CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE
CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE
“How are you feeling?’ I asked him as we lay in bed, still dressed all the way up.
We'd just gotten into the room and I could feel the emotional weight on him. We both headed to the bed and I drew his head to my chest, ignoring his protests.
He gets to be my baby tonight, not the other way around.
“It's mostly guilt,” he replied with a sniffle. “She's been alive all these while and I never did anything to get her out. I lived in hell for decades before running out because I was suffocating. I always found places to hide, places to run off to, anywhere hidden in that plane, I knew it. Yet I avoided his room which was where I should have focused on. Maybe all of this would have been avoided.”
“I doubt he'd simply let you discover a secret he went to such great lengths to keep. I doubt he even kept her there, probably hiding her in some human town. My point is,” I sighed deeply, taking his hand in mine, “you can't blame yourself and neither can you focus on lost time. It's not coming back.”
“Geez, you're great at this motivation thing,” he chuckled.
“You didn't let me finish,” I poked his nose.
“Sorry, ma'am, go on, go on,” he proffered.
“Well, now you've interrupted my flow of wisdom,” I paused, making him groan, “Fine, I won't suffer you much longer, but I was trying to say something important, baby. You can't get the lost time back but you have the future to look forward to. We can make great memories and give her everything she's ever wanted with us by her side. One day, all of these will be distant memories because they've been replaced by great ones.”
“I love you, baby,” he professed with glossy eyes.
“Of course you do, I'm awesome,” I giggled.
“Let's get married,” he declared with all seriousness.
My heart spiked up but I held it in.
“We already are, baby. Stop talking; let's go to bed,” I mumbled and began to move.
“No that doesn't count,” I frowned immediately, “no, I didn't mean it that way! It does count in the most important way because we did it at the height of our joy and happiness. But I want to do it right, marry you in the eyes of the world, give you that bridal glow I always see in human eyes, and have them all jealous of my queen. It's going to be as big or small as you want it and whenever you're ready, we can do your coronation in hell as well.”
“That sounds so crazy,” I laughed at the last part. “But what's crazier is none of this fazes me anymore. I'm used to hearing about hell like it's some vacation destination at this point.”
“You have a crown waiting for you there whenever you're ready,” he said, looking up at me lovingly while swiping his thumb back and forth on my lips.
I wanted to kiss him again.
“I'm on board with the wedding but I don't think I've ever imagined myself getting married. I mean, I have but not so deeply, y’know?”
“Because you were busy trying not to stub your toe on some innocent couch?” He grinned, which I wiped off with a pinch of his nose, “I'm going to sue you for something one day; I don't know what it's yet, but I'm going to,” he grumbled like a grumpy little boy, making me laugh.
“You are siding a couch over me, I had to do something. But hey, what I'm trying to say is, all I'm confident I can be excited about is the wedding gown, maybe the flowers too, but you can do whatever you want with the rest; I wouldn't know the difference between the two different cake designs and which is best or whatever. Have your way, my lord,” I grinned, unconsciously moving my still arm from under him.
“Fuck,” he jolted up, “I got too comfortable; I'm sorry,” he apologized quickly, carrying me and laying me on top of him until I was content. “So, if you are okay with it, we can make it a week-long thing, you do have to choose which country you want us to get married in, which culture, religion, that whole schmuck, my humanity begins and ends with you sorry,” he added, running his fingers through my hair.
We spent almost half of the night discussing the wedding, and although I wasn't really excited at the beginning but by the time I was feeling sleepy, I could tell the young girl in my head jumping.
I was going to get my princess wedding dream in an African and Indian style wedding.
I couldn't wait.
“You wanna sleep?” He murmured into my ear.
“Hmm.”
“I can help you with that,” he whispered, his tone taking a different turn.
“Alariccc,” I drawled, excited deep down.
“Nope, it's Kaiden baby, I sent him off to sleep. I've not held you in my arms in a long while,” the change of voice made sense now.
It was still the same thing but deeper, sensual, carrying the embodiment of lust that he truly is.
I couldn't help moving my ass on his body and hearing him groan sent thunderbolts through my whole body.
“I've missed you,” I murmured into his neck as his aura wrapped around me, he wasn't even trying to hold back one bit.
And I loved it.
“You can't imagine how much I've missed you, my Aria,” he replied, moving to his side so he could look at me, “you've been busy saving us all, and I'm so proud of you,” he added, touching my cheek tenderly.
“Eh, not really. We're forgetting I'm a murderer now,” I said with a humorless laugh.
“I don't think I know any supernatural who hasn't either done it or had it done for them. The difference is the reason. But since you are so taken aback by it, I'll enquire about his soul for you. Maybe guide him back through to another chance at life, will that be okay?”
“Really? You can do that?”
“Anything for my Queen,” he replied, kissing my forehead.
It was like a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulder. It wasn't much, and it's not like Lucas would come back as himself completely, but having a second chance at life would give me a chance to make up for my mistake. I definitely make sure no one hurts him, he's going to have the best life ever if I have any say about it.
“Thank you so much,” I hugged him deeply before he took my lips in his and began kissing me.
Our bodies were so in tune with each other that when his tail tugged at my neck, I didn't even react.
I was ready for my demon to devour me.
