Chapter 125: Complicated Plans
Chapter 125: Complicated Plans
Sylvia's pov.
Prudence taunted me with a smirk and an arched brow, her gaze dropped down to my bawled fist and this gave her more pleasure than one could imagine, it was quite visible in her eyes.
“Let's try this again, shall we?”
Clearing her throat, “Do you have any information that can be useful for our pack against the hunters or, the Brazen pack?” She used her Beta command voice, less powerful than an alpha but just as effective when it came down to it.
At least that was what I thought until this moment when I was not fazed by it. I didn't feel that pull to obey her order, however I answered anyway after her threat, “No, I don't,” growling through gritted teeth while glaring immensely at her.
She seemed satisfied, her ego bursting through the surface, “Hmm,” she approached me slowly, coming to a halt inches away from me.
“You should know your place sometimes, don't overstep,” she whispered patting my cheeks before walking away, “If you have any information whatsoever, report back immediately, I don't want to have to come down here again,” she ordered with her back turned to me as she walked out, slamming the door shut behind her.
I groaned loudly before punching the nearest wall to me, creating a large hole. My knuckles hurt, but it didn't deter the anger I felt inside.
Prudence was brave enough to threaten my family, use them as leverage all because she wants information from me. If they had been good to me perhaps they wouldn't have to settle for cheap threats.
Now more than ever I needed to get my family away from the pack as they continued to lose every bit of trust I had in them. Perhaps my father might be disappointed, but at least we would be alive and that was all that mattered.
After getting my bearings back, I decided to get in touch with my mother as it had been quite some time since I last saw them or spoke to them.
I waited for a few rings later until my little brother's voice echoed valiantly, “Mom!! It's Sylvie!! Hi Sylvieeee.”
The second his voice hit my ears, a part of my anger dissipated and a smile made its way onto my cheeks, “Hi sweeties,” I whispered happily, “How are you?”
Alfie proceeded to tell me about his day and I was glad it didn't feature any form of bullying from the others, the way they had done to me.
At the very least, I wanted him to grow and have a normal life, away from all of this. I wanted him to be shielded the way I never was.
After my brief conversation with him, tear droplets appeared at the corners of my eyes as I promised to visit him before it was finally time to speak with my mother.
Her voice was weak and she entered into a fit of cough a few times, and each time sent a stake through my heart, “Are the meds still working?”
She swore that they were, but for the life of me, it didn't sound like it, but I just had to take her word for it.
“Anything happened in the pack?”
I waited, my heart hammering in anticipation, it only took a word and I would storm out of this dormitory, find Prudence and make her bleed.
And luckily, I could finally do it.
My mother assured me but I knew better, I knew she just didn't want me worrying after her. I made a drastic decision to visit them sooner than they expected but I didn't let her know of my plans.
Hearing their voices brought me a peaceful mind that I couldn't explain and I could finally think properly until I hung up. My pack was moving crazy and something was happening.
The only one I would be able to meet, that I could trust to tell me the truth was Micheal.
Yet, another obstacle to worry about.
I heaved heavily, plumbing down on my bed while staring up at the ceiling. If I wanted my mother to be back to her health, I needed to start my work with Dr Maksim as soon as possible, but I also needed a vital piece of the puzzle.
Professor Donald.
There still hadn't been any information from him nor has there been any response, it was as if he had just packed up and disappeared into thin air.
Without saying goodbye? I doubt it.
But there was no one I could ask, no one I could call and could only wait for a response wherever it arrived. But before that did, it didn't stop my mind from concocting a few pieces.
A few of them weren't pleasant to say the least and it all involved Professor Donald being in trouble.
“His knowledge of werewolves was vast, he had his gears which would keep him safe, there was no way he would have been put down by one of my kind.”
I remembered how he had in his possession; wolvesbane, silver. Being a former scientist, he knew the dangers and was always ready for them.
I had been so exhausted I didn't know when I drifted to a light slumber.
Hopefully everything would sort itself out, but it was not ever that simple, we needed to find out more about Peggy, I needed to find out what's going on with my pack.
I also needed to work with Maksim for the cure for my mother. People are disappearing, others are dropping dead like flies.
Strange encounters and whispers of wolves around the school. The hunters were gaining an edge against us and the only thing left to do was attack.
This was going to be a bloodbath, either way, and I really wanted to avoid that at all cost. To the extent that I wondered if I could speak with Peggy, but I shut down that idea immediately.
Until I know more information about her, I can't trust her any longer.
