Chapter 17: Chapter Seventeen
I was extremely excited, bouncing on the soles of my feet as I wondered how this experience will differ from earth own, it was one of those few things that my father never explained to me and so I find the whole experience, completely new.
Cirdan watched me with an amused smile on his face, his hands in his pocket as I lead him forward, dragging him but his arms.
“What are the rides here? I wonder how the fair plans it’s rides. Wouldn’t it be cool if magic was used instead of technology?” I asked loudly, loud enough that some other people close by looking at us.
Cirdan bent so his head was close to mine and he whispered in my ear. “You should not say things like that outside, everybody would know that you are a foreigner from another realm and not everybody likes foreigners.”
“What will they do if they think so?” I asked back.
“Enough to not only put you in trouble but that can make you injured.” Cirdan said seriously. I paused; my voice might not have been loud when I spoke my questions, but enough heads turned back, maybe it would be better if we do something else.
I turned to face my mate fully, about to ask him if there was something else we could do instead when I saw the twinkle in his eyes and realized that he just pulled one over me.
“They will not put me in trouble will they?’ I ask and Cirdan shook his head.
“They might even welcome you with open arms, hug you one too many times and take delight in watching you experience Fairs in Faery for the very first time.” Cirdan shrugged then jumped out of the way of my hands as I moved to hit him.
“Stay still,” I warned him, but he danced out of my reach, laughing at me.
Eventually, I stopped trying to hit him because his legs were longer than mine and his strides when he tried to avoid my reach made it impossible for me to even land one hit on him. “I give up.” I said, almost breathing heavy from my attempt to try and catch him.
He wrapped his arms around me as he kissed my head. “Good, I was started to get worried that you might hurt yourself.” He responded as I rolled my eyes at him.
He changed his hold on me to holding my hand and he led me to the ticket booth where he brought us some tickets and just like I had hoped the rides were different. Their idea of the Ferris wheel ride was an invisible place we all sat down, and it went looping through symbols in the air before the restraints disappears and our falling bodies were bounced from one place to another, all in the air.
And it was totally okay for me to say that I was done with Faery fairs, they were certainly not for me.
“It was not that scary.” Cirdan rolled his eyes at my complaints.
“We were bouncing in thin air with nothing between us and falling to the ground.” I reminded him.
“And it was a trick that was completely under control or else they would not have done it.” Cirdan explain but I shook my head. I was done and he wouldn’t be able to change my mind.
“Let’s go back to school.” I stated as I picked a direction and started walking.
He sighed. “I guess you would not like the second surprise I got for you then?” He stated in a joking too. His words made me freeze on my steps as I was walking back to the direction which I thought we came from.
“I am willing to see it before we leave.” I amended.
“You sure?” You seem mightily interested in going back to school.” He stated.
“Don’t make me hurt you.” I threatened him and of course, all he did was smile at me before wrapping an arm on my shoulder and moving me forward towards the direction I was going before.
“Which direction leads back to ATI?” I asked.
“Directly behind us if we walk in a straight line.” He answered with a straight face while mine went red. I was completely off in my direction back to school.
“Don’t you dare laugh at me?” I mumbled.
“I would not dream of it.” He answered.
*******************************
“This is completely tame compared to the fair.” I commented, looking at the picnic that was set on rocky grounds.
“Wanted to treat you to different experiences.” Cirdan replied as he sat down and placed some food on a plate for me and I smiled my thanks at him. The sight of the food reminded me that I haven’t really eaten since breakfast that morning. Finn ruined my lunch.
“You are good at this dating thing.” I commended him with a smile before I spent the next few minutes eating in companionable silence with him.
“What made you chose this spot?” I asked when we were done eating and was ready to go back to school.
“I thought that you will never ask.” He replied as he took my hand and dragged me to the edge of the cliff and there I saw the wonder of Faery.
Somehow, we were high enough that I could see the nature and a kingdom not so far away. From our location, the kingdom looked small and tiny.
“Where is that?” I asked.
“The seat of power for the ruler of the Folks. That is where you father is most times. I knew that you have not been taken to see your kingdom and although your parents might have their reason for it, but I really wanted you to see the place you would rule over one day, everything you see will one day belong to you Princess.”
I smiled with tears in my eyes. He was really being thoughtful.
“Thank you.” I whispered to Cirdan who kissed my head and then left me at the cliff to pack the picnic things. I stared at the sight before me a little longer, thinking that it really was all mine and then something scary happened.
I felt something move in me, like another consciousness not belonging to me brushing against mine as if it was trying to see through my eyes what I was seeing. My eyes went blank for a second and before I could panic, I could see once more.
I felt strange and very quickly, just as the feeling came to me, it left. But it left me feeling scared. Wondering what the hell that was.
