Chapter 17: ""...better that...than us.""

With a lascivious smile on his face, Lamashtu strolled forward and around the desk. With a beckoning smile Rebecca leaned back in her chair, leaning her head to one side. With her elbow on the armrest of her chair, she leaned her cheek against her fingertips.

Bending at the waist slightly, Lamashtu reached down, and gently stroked Rebecca’s neck. Starting from just under her ear down and across her exposed collarbones. Before trailing a finger down her sternum, between her high pert breasts and watching as her nipples hardened.

“My darling niece…you seem to be in need…shall I remedy that situation.” Lamashtu's voice, deep with arousal.

“You’re here already, might as well make use of you.” Rebecca’s husky voice only made Lamashtu’s lust deepen.

“As you wish my Queen.”

In Rebecca’s Solar, attached to her office, overhearing the entire conversation was Bonnie. Only after the talking stopped, and the moans and laughter started, did Bonnie make her way out of her mother's Solar. Bonnie seethed with rage as she stalked her way back to her suite.

It took awhile for Bonnie’s fury to simmer down after finding out her mother planned to breed her and her other two sisters if Rain died. Bonnie paced around her room for a time, her sharp stiletto heels clacking against the ground with each step she took.

The sound of each clack was like a slap to Bonnie’s conscious as she dwelled on her mother’s words. Bonnie was so angry that the water in her flower vases started to boil, wilting the flowers in them. Bonnie, hearing the sound, stopped abruptly.

With her arms crossed under her breasts she whipped her head to the side to glare at the sound coming from the clear crystal vase sitting in the center of her vanity dresser. With an impatient wave of one hand at the vase, Bonnie froze the water.

There was a knock on her door that had her whipping her head the other direction to see who was disturbing her. Kelly and Janice walked in, thankfully Sarah wasn’t with them.

Frowning, she narrowed her eyes on her sisters. “How’d you ditch the mutt?” Bonnie asked in a caustic tone.

“Jack was feeling an itch for some bitch.” Kelly said in her usual flat and emotionless voice.

“It’ll be a while before we are forced to endure her presence again.” Janice said flippantly.

Bonnie scoffed and rolled her eyes, “Hopefully he can breed her, better that bitch than us.” Her voice was full of scorn.

Janice, who had just flopped onto the end of her bed, sat back up and looked at Bonnie. “What do you mean by that?” she asked in a wary tone.

Kelly, also sitting on the end of the bed, leaned against one of the four posts supporting the canopy above. Her gaze was blank, her eyes flat as she looked at Bonnie, waiting for the explanation that was to come.

“I just went to mom’s Solar, I was going to get permission for us to go to town.” Bonnie told them.

“And.” Kelly asked, her tone made her sound indifferent, but she was actually genuinely curious in what Bonnie had to tell them.

“I didn’t find her in the Solar, but the door from the Solar to her office was cracked and there was light.” Bonnie said, back to pacing back and forth at the foot of her bed.

“Was she in her office?” Janice asked her curiously.

Bonnie nodded, “Oh she was in her office alright, but before I could go in, I heard her and ‘Uncle’,” Bonnie used air quotes when she said Uncle. “talking about the night they’ll be preforming sex and death magic to renew the Toxic Haze Barrier Spell.”

Kelly tilted her head to the side, staring at Bonnie blankly she asked in that monosyllabic tone of hers, “Talking and not fucking?”

Janice laughed, a high pitched laugh that was on the edge of sounding psychotic. “You can talk while you fuck too you know.”

Bonnie let out an exasperated breath. “Anyway,” she stretched the word out, sounding aggravated, “Lamashtu asked mother what her plans for that mongrel were now that she’s killed an Elder.”

“Isn’t she at death's door now?” Janice asked, sounding excited at the thought of Rain dying.

“Let’s hope she lives.” Bonnie said, not sounding happy about it.

“Why?” Kelly asked

“Because if she dies, mom is going to breed the three of us with a mangy mutt.” Bonnie said angrily.

“The fuck!” Janice shrieked, looking at Bonnie with a wide eyed expression that was a mixture of shock and anger.

“Huh.” was all Kelly said.

“You heard me, our bitch of a mother wants to breed the three of us for new blood stock.” Bonnie nearly snarled, her anger causing the once frozen water in the vase on her dresser to boil again.

“So…what are you planning?” Kelly asked Bonnie, then she waved a listless hand at the vase, refreezing the water.

Bonnie let out a sigh, closing her eyes she stood still and counted. When she felt in control again she opened her eyes to look at her sisters. Bonnie took in another deep breath before saying, “First let's go down to the basement. I want to get a good look at that half breed and see how close to dying she really is.”

“Sounds like a good idea, we should go now, before Jack lets Sarah loose again.” Janice said, rolling her eyes as she said Sarah’s name.

Janice and Kelly jumped off the bed, then with Bonnie in the lead, they started towards the basement cells.

In the darkness of the basement cells, Rain gasped as she woke up and was instantly swamped by the immense pain in her body. Instantly her body started to tremble uncontrollably from the trauma it suffered from. Blood loss and extreme pain will do that to a body.

‘Hello pain, my old friend, it’s been a few days since I last felt you. You must have missed me so badly you decided to come back with a vengeance.’ Rain thought internally.

Rain assessed her body, looking for her wolf to make sure they hadn’t been separated. *“Hope?”*

*“I’m still here.”* Hope answered, her growl was more of a whimper at the moment, as she also felt the pain to their body.

Rebecca’s attack had ripped into their very soul, causing more than just physical damage. Rain tried to sit up, only to feel like every one of her wounds were being ripped open again. With a pained moan, Rain could only roll a little on the ground.

Rain was back in the chains, her moans and the rattling and scraping of the chains against the floor, caught the attention of Dominic. Dominic rushed as close to the bars separating their cells as he could, his chains loud as he moved.

“Rain?” Dominic’s voice was full of agonized worry.

Rain made an effort to get enough breath back into her lungs to answer. “I’m alive daddy.” her voice was so hoarse, like someone had taken sandpaper to her vocal cords.

Dominic let out a whimpering sobbing sound. “You're drenched in blood and your body is full of wounds, what happened!”

Dominic was tortured, *“Why Goddess! Why must my pup suffer so much! What did she ever do to deserve this!”* he raged internally.

*“Soon, Dominic, soon our pup will lead us to freedom under the Moon Goddess guidance.”* Came a growling voice Dominic hadn’t heard since he was seventeen.

*“Atlas?”* Dominic asked, shocked, hardly believing he was hearing that voice again.

*“Yes, the spell separating us no longer works, it has grown too weak.”* Atlas told Dominic.

“I killed an Elder today,” Rain said, shocking Dominic. “Mother wanted to breed me with that Elder.”

Dominic’s stomach dropped, and Atlas growled inside his head. Dominic had almost forgotten what it was like to have a second presence in your mind all the time, to feel that second presence emotional turmoil along with your own again.

“No…” Dominic's response came out in a tormented moan.

“I killed him before he could touch me.” Rain said weakly, her voice was breathy, only audible to those with hearing like their beasts of old.

Before Dominic could ask any more questions, they heard the squeak of the heavy door at the top of the stairs leading out of the basement. Rain stopped trying to move, and forced her body to go limp, pretending to still be unconscious.

Dominic, not wanting to draw attention to Rain, carefully laid back down on the floor, making sure his chains didn’t rattle. They could hear the others in the rest of the basement cells doing the same thing. None of them wanted attention from whomever was going to be coming down the stairs.

Only one set of steps could be heard coming down, and the footsteps were incredibly light, barely audible. Then her scent drifted to Rain and Dominic, filling them with relief. Rain turned her head and Dominic sat up, both looking in Lillian's direction.
