Chapter 139 Caught Red-Handed
Chapter 139 Caught Red-Handed
Alexander's face hardened at Bill's words. He stayed silent for a moment, his mind working through possibilities at lightning speed. Then his eyes lit up with understanding.
"Alert Sterling Group's cybersecurity department immediately," he commanded. "Everyone works overtime tonight. I want our internal systems bulletproof—no exceptions."
"Have our surveillance team watching Vivian monitor her closely," he continued. "Every single person she contacts needs to be logged and tracked."
I watched Alexander spring into action, feeling a familiar rush of adrenaline. Turning to my phone, I messaged Isabella: "I need access to the surveillance system at this address."
"Pull everything she's said and everyone she's contacted recently. Send it all to my laptop," I added.
After making a couple of calls, Bill glanced at me with curiosity. "Mrs. Sterling, if she made phone calls without recordings, you can still find out what was said?"
I nodded confidently. "For calls made within the last decade? Absolutely. The machine I have at Phoenix headquarters can retrieve it all without leaving a trace."
"How is that even possible?" Alexander looked genuinely puzzled, just like when I'd pulled Sophia's call recordings.
"Every phone call we make leaves digital footprints in carrier systems," I explained. "It's just a question of whether you're good enough to find them."
I leaned back in my chair. "That machine in Sicily is special—one of a kind in the world. Countless people would kill to get their hands on it."
"But possession doesn't equal capability," I added with a slight smirk. "Even if someone stole it, only three people can actually use it properly—me, Isabella, and Antonio. Everyone else wouldn't even know how to bypass the encryption."
"Donna," Isabella's voice came through my laptop, cool and professional. "Someone's trying to jam the network at your location. I've isolated your room—you're the only ones with a signal in the entire hotel. Step outside, and you won't even be able to make a call."
"What about Vivian's surveillance?" I asked, unfazed.
"I'm in their system. Sending the feed now."
My laptop screen flickered before displaying multiple camera angles from inside Vivian's house. I pushed the computer toward Alexander. "See for yourself."
While he examined the feed, I opened my other laptop and slipped into Sterling Group's network. "Honey, you were right. Someone's actively trying to breach Sterling Group's systems. They're hunting for vulnerabilities."
"I prepared a gift for her," Alexander said with cold satisfaction. He nodded to Bill, who pulled a laptop from his briefcase.
"This computer was specifically prepared for Vivian," Alexander explained, opening it and showing me the screen. "It contains financial reports I carefully crafted for her benefit."
I examined the files—they looked identical to documents on Alexander's computer. Clever.
"Bill adds new files daily to keep things looking authentic," Alexander continued. "He also makes minor edits to existing documents to leave modification timestamps."
Though I couldn't decipher the financial data, I knew Alexander's trap would be flawless. I quickly swapped the system signatures between this laptop and Alexander's, then upgraded the encryption protocols.
"I've enhanced the security," I told him with a mischievous smile. "Whoever Vivian hired will now be convinced these files are extremely valuable."
On Vivian's surveillance feed, a masked man sat hunched over a laptop in her study, frustration evident in his body language.
"Sterling's computer is impossible to crack," he complained to Vivian, who paced nervously behind him.
"Of course it is! His system contains all of Sterling Group's confidential files," she snapped.
The man looked up at her. "Listen, once I finish this job, I'm leaving the country tonight. I'm only here to steal files from his computer—whatever happens afterward is not my business."
"I'll arrange your departure tonight," Vivian hissed. "Stay silent as the grave and you'll get your money."
She anxiously asked, "You're sure you blocked Sterling's signal?"
"Positive. His hotel has zero connectivity now." The man sounded confident. "The heavy rainstorm gives us perfect cover. I blocked the hotel's notification system too—they'll assume the outage is from storm-related flooding."
"Hurry," Vivian urged. "Alexander's too smart. This honeymoon opportunity is too rare to waste."
"How's Sterling Group's system?" Alexander asked Bill without taking his eyes off the screen.
"Under attack, but Henry's team is handling it. We're secure," Bill replied, checking a message from Noah.
"Henry's one of my best picks," I assured Alexander. "You have nothing to worry about."
Alexander nodded, his attention still fixed on Vivian's surveillance feed.
"How did you connect Vivian to what's happening here?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"I originally planned to take you on a cruise for our honeymoon," he explained. "But our surveillance on Vivian reported unusual activity—she'd contacted a hacker team. I suspected she might try something."
"Cruise ships have spotty connections. To be safe, I changed our plans to this instead." He gestured to our beachfront paradise. "Before we left, Bill leaked information that we'd be gone for two months."
His lips curled into a cold smile. "She couldn't resist the opportunity. We've been gone just a few days, and already she's making her move."
"Check Robert's location," Alexander suddenly requested. "What's he doing right now?"
Bill and I exchanged alarmed glances. My heart pounded as Bill made the call. If Robert was involved too, this would devastate Alexander.
"Mr. Robert is at a business dinner at the Carlton Hotel, sir," Bill finally reported.
I quickly hacked into the hotel's security system and pulled up the feed. Sure enough, Warren was sitting in the restaurant, calmly enjoying his meal.
Alexander's expression softened slightly. He just needed to know his brother wasn't part of this betrayal.
He walked to the balcony, sat down, and made a phone call. Through the surveillance, we watched Robert answer his phone.
"What's Alexander trying to accomplish with this call?" I asked Bill quietly.
"Despite his issues with Vivian, Mr. Sterling maintains a decent relationship with Robert. They're brothers, after all," Bill explained. "Years ago, Robert voluntarily left Sterling Group to protect the company. This suggests he doesn't share Vivian's agenda."
"If he did, they would have joined forces to control Sterling Group together," Bill continued thoughtfully. "By calling Robert now, Mr. Sterling is giving him a chance to save face. The next move is Robert's."
