We Have To Try. Right?

We Have To Try. Right?
Alex barely made it to the foyer in time to hear one of the doors to his right close. Now if he weren't already fed up he probably wouldn't have followed whoever it was through. But he was and he did.

Unfortunately this person was quick and he saw no sign of them. He debated calling out to see if anyone was around. However he didn't want to draw any unwanted attention. He was smarter than that. Well he was usually smarter than that. He hadn't been as of recently. Trusting a ghost hadn't been the best decision he'd ever made. But he'd fund a way to fix this. He had to.

Pov Change

Eliza had found her way to the study on the first floor. She was trying to take it slow. It wouldn't do well to spook these kids. Worse she could draw unwanted attention from Vivian. She just needed to take a deep breath and think.

She could do this. How hard could it be getting 5 teens to safety? They just had to get away from the spectre who had been confined to this old manor for years. Okay, now she understood why everyone had called her crazy when she had tried telling them about what happened to her. It did sound a little out there even if it was the truth.

Pov Change

Vivian stood by watching her oldest daughter attempt to run from her. Though it was foolish, she admired her courage. That wouldn't spare her. For now though she spoke, her voice flat and her words to the point. "You betrayed me bringing that foolish girl back."

She watched as Julia stopped at the end of the hall breathing heavily. She really should be careful since she was as old as she was. Vivian didn't bring it up though. She simply fixed her with that disappointed system she'd always used when Julia was younger. It had worked then. Why should it fail now?

Pov Change

Tracy was busy stuffing the notebooks and stuff into an old tote bag she'd found in Beatrice's closet. She'd even grabbed the murder weapon. This was proof they weren't crazy. It was a cold case that could finally be solved.

She figured once Alex came back though they'd go to the basement. She'd take some pictures of the skeletons. And maybe if they were lucky they'd find an address for this old mansion. They could tip the cops off. Those poor families could get closure. Of course this all depended on them getting out first.

"We're gonna be okay. We'll find a way." She heard Sam speak up from behind her. For some reason she believed him. He sounded so certain of it.

Pov Change

Julia turned to face her mother an apology on the tip of her tongue. Not that she felt sorry. At least not for this. She'd been an accomplice for her mother all these years. She was tired of her. Of this. Not that she intended to do anything to stop it. She just didn't intend to come back once her mother let her out.

She'd just have to ask nicely. Though running hadn't been the best reaction to her appearing. Then she'd leave Eliza with those kids and skidaddle. Easy as pie. But she'd have to calm her mother down first. She'd get nowhere while her mother was angry. So she put on the best apologetic look she could muster inching closer.

Pov Change

"Look CC we need to double back. The others wound up on the other side of the manor. Besides there's no way Tracy would just leave everything behind. She actually wants to finish this." Luke knew he was right. He was just waiting for Courtney to see sense. She had to right?

"We will get them once we find a way out," Courtney answered curtly. They didn't have time for this. Not in her opinion. If Luke wanted to he could go. She'd be less worried if he was with the others anyways. It was probably safer for him anyways. This could provoke Vivian. That much she knew. But she couldn't just return empty-handed. There had to be something they were missing. They'd take the fight to Vivian if they had to. Not that she knew how to yet.

Pov Change

Sam was helping Tracy get everything ready to go but his mind was on Alex. He'd gone off on his own which was never smart. But with a psychotic specter on the loose it was worse. What if Vivian got to him? They weren't even safe in groups anymore. Alex definitely wasn't safe alone.

If it weren't for Tracy he'd have probably gone off with Alex to find the home invaders. But he didn't intend on leaving her alone. She could have a concussion or something. Not that he would be able to tell. He had limited medical knowledge that revolved around superficial scrapes and bruises.
