Julia's Unexpected Visitor And Tracy Needs A Key
Julia's Unexpected Visitor And Tracy Needs A Key
Eliza drove for quite a while on her way to DC. She was gonna give Julia a choice. She could either help Eliza get into the house willingly or she could always be convinced to. She grabbed her pistol from her glove compartment. She wasn't in the mood and she didn't have time to waste. She feared for the lives of those poor teens.
She pulled her car to the curb outside of Julia's house. She turned the key in the ignition shutting the car off. When she stepped out she watched a kid skate by with a goofy smile on his face. She felt sick to her stomach as she walked up the front stairs onto the porch.
The second she knocked on the door it swung it open. Julia stood before her; her grey hair stuck out everywhere. She looked frail and she was using a cane to support her weight as she walked. Juli almost felt bad for what she was about to do. Almost.
Pov Change
Tracy looked around the entire first floor. It took her an hour and she still hadn't found the key. She was about to go upstairs to check on Alex when Luke came down the stairs. “Where'd you come from?” She was a little shocked to see him.
“Attic. Alex found me. What are you doing?” Luke tilted his head, looking at Tracy.
“Looking for a key, what does it look like I'm doing?” Tracy snapped. This was getting annoying. It wasn't on this floor and she had no idea where to look.
“I left it with one of my trophies,” Vivian appeared behind them putting an icy hand on Tracy's shoulder.
“What the fuck do you mean it's with one of your trophies? Like what the hell? Are you psycho or somethin’?” Tracy jerked away, stumbling back.
“It's in the basement,” Luke shuddered. He wasn't looking forward to going back down there.
Pov Change
Sam sat staring at the door when he heard quiet footsteps on the stairs. A part of him hoped it was the others coming to let him out. The rest of him suspected Vivian had come back to check on her ‘trophies’. It wasn't until he heard quiet whispers outside the door.
“Do I have to go down there?” He could have sworn it was Tracy's voice.
“Do you expect me to go alone?” That was most definitely Luke. He sounded closer than Tracy but from the sound of the footsteps Tracy wasn't far behind.
“But it smells,” Tracy whined.
Sam decided to take a chance and started banging on the door. “Guys! Can you hear me?! Let me out please!” He hollered hoping they could hear him. Unfortunately they hadn't. He heard their footsteps recede further into the basement.
Luke looked around at the corpses. He really hoped it wasn't with the ones near him. Maggots crawled through the eye holes and flies flew around them. He turned away covering his mouth. He heard Tracy wretch behind him as if she were about to puke. He couldn't blame her. This basement was absolutely horrific and the smell alone was enough to make a person barf.
“Why don't you go back upstairs? I'll bring the key up when I find it,” Luke suggested. Tracy nodded, basically running back upstairs.
Luke took a deep breath looking around. He hoped to find the key fast so that he could get out of here. He shivered as a draft passed through him. He was beginning to think that Vivian didn't hide it in something obvious like in the hand of one of the poor corpses.
That was when he spotted it. The key hung inside the ribcage of a nearby corpse. He rubbed a hand down his face before inching closer to the corpse. This was going to suck. He looked away and quickly reached his hand inside, ignoring the icky ooze dripping onto his hand. They were lucky he didn't want any of them to get hurt. He pulled his hand out and breathed a sigh of relief when he'd actually managed to get the key. He could have wound up with a decaying organ for all he knew.
Pov Change and Timeskip
Alex paced the living room. They'd gotten Courtney a few hours ago but Vivian hadn't given them another clue and Alex had searched everywhere. He was getting worried. If he couldn't find Sam then he'd be stuck here and it would be all his fault. He looked away from the group biting his thumbnail.
He felt like he was going to be sick. What could Vivian have done with him? They only had 10 minutes left. He'd hoped that he could save them all but most of all he was hoping to spare Sam from being trapped here forever. Sam was his best friend here and he just couldn't stand the thought of Vivian hurting him.
“He's soon to be one of my trophies. It's a good thing I won't have to move him far,” Vivian approached.
Alex was the only one who saw her. The only one who knew what she said. It took a minute but he realized exactly what she meant. He was in the basement. He felt stupid for not realizing it sooner. It was the only place he hadn't been today.
He pushed past Luke who was talking to Courtney. As soon as he was clear of everyone he took off running. He heard Tracy yell after him telling him not to go off alone but he didn't listen. The night they'd been down in the basement he'd felt a door close to the stairs but never mentioned it. He'd been too distracted with the dead bodies.
He burst through the basement door not bothering with turning the light on. He knew where he was headed. He only had three minutes left so he hurried down the stairs nearly tripping twice. It wasnt long before he burst through the door to the storage room. Hed noticed it last night but hadnt really deemed it important.
Sam looked surprised to see him but Alex just smiled crookedly. He'd found him first. Vivian had lost. He hadn't failed. They'd all be okay so long as they could solve this.
“Are you okay?” Alex went to check on him. Sam nodded quietly.
He hadn't seen Alex smile before and it caught him off guard. He was more surprised when Alex pulled him into a hug. He could have sworn he heard Alex's heart racing but he pushed it aside. He was rather glad Alex was actually comfortable with him. He wrapped his arms around Alex giving him a light squeeze before they headed back upstairs.
Sam was cold and he wanted his shoes back because his feet were freezing. Alex was quieter than usual and his head was turned down. He was fidgeting with his sleeve and Sam wanted to ask if he was okay too but he feared Alex would only brush his concern off.
They got back to the living room a few minutes later and everyone swarmed Sam asking where he'd been and what had happened. Alex simply curled up in the armchair watching them. Once everyone finally dispersed again Sam put his shoes on and moved to sit down close to Alex though he was in the floor while alex was in the armchair.
