Chapter 25 The right thing to do!

Chapter 25 The right thing to do!
Brad
The ride to the office was a fast one. The driver drove at too speed but I didn’t complain. I was already late so it was okay by me.
I got to the office and settled in my desk. I quickly ran over files again as the meeting is in an hour. We went for the meeting and Ryan’s team did so well.
“I owe you one, you know?” He whispered to me as we went back to our office after the meeting.
I got to my desk and found a gift box there. I opened it and it was a love shaped chair with a note.
It was actually a love letter and it was from Anna. Apparently, the note was her way of pouring out her mind. She revealed how in love she’s with me and asks that we become lovers.
I don’t know what it was exactly, but I felt so much anger rose inside of me. I mean, I’ve told her several times to get off my back but she wouldn’t listen. Everyday, she tries new ways to impose her love obsession on me. I just always dismiss her but today was different. Something rose in me and it got so huge that I grabbed the cake box with the note and made my way over to her desk.
“What the heck is wrong with you, Anna?” I yelled at her and her eyes got big. She wasn’t expecting such reaction from me and it isn’t like me either but that was the only way to get her off. It’s either the hard way or she keeps being a pain in my neck.
“What are you doing, Brad? What are you talking about?” She whispered, trying to feign innocence while also manipulating me into telling guilty.
“Will you drop the act already? I’m so tired of your obsession with me. I already told you that I want nothing to do with you but you won’t listen. Why won’t you listen huh? Why are you so hellbent on having a relationship with me? I’m not in love with you, please kindly accept that and leave me alone!” I yelled.
The whole office were staring at us now and I saw the embarrassment in her eyes. I felt bad for her but I have to choose myself and this is the only way.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Will you relax please? We can talk about it and suet things out without this drama you’re creating.” She let out while I burst into laughter.
“Really? Just wow… if you had followed your own advice, maybe we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now. I don’t care if you keep pretending or not. I’m only going to say this one last time. I’m not interested in a relationship with you and it’s never going to happen. Please leave me alone, Anna. Thank you. Here, take your cake and love note. I don’t want them.” I said and then pushed both in her desk.
She opened her mouth to talk but I didn’t wait around. I turned and walked out. I didn’t even go back to my desk. I took a break immediately and went into the break room.
I sunk into the sofa and just as I was about to get some rest to relax, the door opened and Ryan walked in.
“What’s wrong with you man? Why would you do that?” He let out while I scoffed.
What the heck do you mean with those questions? Are you not aware of how much pain she has been on my neck? I finally warned her off and I’m the bad person?” I slammed back at him while he came closer and sat across from me.
“Yeah, I’m aware of it all and it’s also true that I taunt you and ask you do do something. That was what I meant. You just displayed some immature stuff in there and it’s not a good look on you at all.” He countered me and I scoffed again.
“I really don’t understand why you’re choosing not to get this.” I replied.
“What’s there not to understand? What’s that girl’s fault? All she ever did was love you and no one deserves to be embarrassed that way over love. Most times, we don’t even have control over who we fall in love with. The heart knows what it wants after all. You just embarrassed her in front of everyone and that’s not fair. You’re better than that.” He explained and I finally felt guilty.
“You’re siding her now,” I quizzed.
“Sides? This has nothing to do with sides, and even if it does, I will definitely side with the truth. You were not on that side tonight so if you feel like I’m not supporting you, then you’re right. I’m not supporting you.”
“Wow, so what do you want me to do now? Go to her and applogize. Ohh please, I’m sorry for putting you in your place after I’ve tried so hard to make out understand that it’s never going to happen. Please forgive me for refusing to put up with your nonsense!” I let out sarcastically.
“No, that’s not what I’m asking you to do. I like to think that she loves you genuinely and wants you but sometimes, we don’t want the people who want us, and vice versa. All I’m saying is that you didn’t handle it well. You were free to turn her down but not embarrass her like that. And besides, you’re single, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t give her a chance.” He let out and just as I was a pout to reply, he jumped back in.
“Wait.. I think I know why! You’re in love with Vivian and she’s the one you want, right?” He quizzed and I laughed.
“I’ve never seen you so far from the truth. Vivian is my roommate and we don’t plan to change that. If it’s about the kiss, we already agree it was a mistake that wouldn’t happen again.
“What…”
“What if I told you something happened recently that made me react that way?” I let out and then went on to narrate what happened the other night at her fake party which she lured me into. And how I had an encounter with her ex who almost killed me.
“Wow, that’s a lot bit you too already sorted that, right? She apologized according to you because she realized her mistake. You should do the same. Go back in there and apologize to her.” He said firmly but not like he was ordering me.
“I’ll think about it,” I chimed in while he nodded and clapped.
“Yeah, that’s the right thing to do…” he retorted…
