Chapter 17 I will get back at him!
Vivian
Brad got me this time around and I couldn’t even deny it. I’ve always tried to be unreadable but everytime I try, he tears through my wall and gets me.
I didn’t even know my eyes were all swollen and I thought he was taunting me, until I checked and saw he was telling the truth.
Seeing as he still didn’t make me breakfast, I was pissed. I know I always ask him not to and to mind his business, but it’s all just a act. He cooks so well and I enjoy his cooking. Infact, I look forward to them every morning. That was why I came out this morning, I thought he would have left for work but seeing him sitting at the counter, I made up my mind not to talk to him but he doesn’t make it easy.
“You got me this time, but I’m going to get back at you.” I muttered under my breath as I ate my lunch.
That evening, I stayed in my room so he wouldn’t get the chance to talk to me. My masked man and I got talking again and surprisingly, he helped me find a job vacancy. I only mentioned it in the wave of our conversation but he took it serious and that was the first thing he shared with me once we got talking.
He sent the link and even helped me with the application. The interview was in two days and he helped me prepare hard.
I spent the better part of those days in my room, preparing and talking to my masked man.
Finally, it was the day of the interview. I woke up early, got prepared and was on my way out when I ran into Brad.
“Ohh my, I’m so sorry, I hope I didn’t hurt you.” He quickly apologized and tried to see if I wasn’t hurt.
“It’s okay, I’m fine.” I said and that was when we locked eyes. He scanned me over and curved his lips.
“You’re all dressed up, going somewhere?” He asked.
“Uhm, let’s see… no, I’m not going anywhere. I only woke up early, dressed up so I could run into you.” I let out and he just laughed it off.
“You know, I like it when you get like that. It’s always so sweet.” He replied while I rolled my eyes.
“You’re so unbelievable. Please get out of my way.” I said and then walked past him.
“I was never in your way.” He muttered abc I heard but I didn’t say anything.
I went into the kitchen, hoping to grab a bottle of water but the breakfast tray on the counter caught my attention.
Brad decided to prepare my breakfast today, and I was going to ignore it but then, my belly said otherwise. It started acting funny and making sounds, begging me to get the food.
“No, I will not,” I muttered under breath and turned to leave but then, I found Brad standing there with a big grin on his face.
“Please get that silly grin off of your face, it makes you look funny,” I let out but it only got bigger.
“But why won’t you eat? Are you also fighting the food?” He taunted.
“That’s none of your business. I’m not hungry so you can keel your food!” I said but my belly decided to embarrass me right then. It started making that rumbling noise again and this time, it was louder than before.
“Your belly says otherwise. You’re obviously hungry, you should eat so you have the strength for running into me. And besides, it’s really delicious. I really went out of my way this morning. You should try it, your belly will thank you for it.” He chimed in and without waiting for my response, he turned and walked away.
I was so angry that I tightened my fist, if he was still standing there, I would have punched that grin off of his face. But then, he’s not here and I’m not a fan of punching walls. I’ve seen people do in movies and I yell how painful it is. Why would I hurt myself because I’m angry?
My eyes went to the food again and I was so tempted but I can’t let him win. No matter how hungry I am, I’m passing.
My belly made another noise but I ignored and ran off. I barely made it to the front door before I ran back into the kitchen. The food looked too good.
“We’re only going to take a bite.” I said to myself as I grabbed the toast and took a bite.
My eyes lit up immediately. It was so good and I just couldn’t resist a second bite. I took a bite after another and before I knew it, I had eaten the whole toast. The egg and sausage tasted like honey and I kept moaning as I ate.
By the time I was done, I had eaten half of the food already. I was washing it down with a glass of juice when I heard footsteps approaching.
I know it was Brad and the last thing I want is for him to see that I eventually ate the food after bragging I wouldn’t. I quickly got up and stormed out of the house.
I got to the company, happy and ready to ace the interview. There were a few others there as well for the same job. I had conversations with some of them and I figured they were really good. But I didn’t let that get to me. I’m equally good too with much experience.
“I’m going to get it,” I said to myself.
But then, after waiting eight hours with nothing to show for it, I was so tired. We were eventually called in and that was when I realized it was nothing like they it was. The job was nothing related to the opening they called for.
I was so pissed and I angrily gave them a piece of my mind. I didn’t hold back at all and they had to call the security to bounce me out.
Somewhere between when they bounced me out and when I got on the bus, my purse went missing and I didn’t know how it happened.
The bus broke down and we had to find our way but then it started raining. I had no money, no shield so I was beaten up so hard.
I was all soaked and sick by the time I found my way home. I had to her money from Justin to pay off the ride I got home.
“I’m so sorry to disturb you. I promise to pay you back.” I let out while he looked at me like I was crazy.
“What the heck are you saying right now? You’re all soaked and looking sick, and you think I care about a few bucks. Come on, let’s get to inside.” He let out and before I knew it, he lifted me off the ground and took me inside.
“Go in right now and take a hot shower, I’ll have something warm for you by the time you’re done.” He let out…
