Chapter 64

Chapter 64

I couldn't focus on work at all. With Jessa causing such a scene, I had no idea how serious the consequences would be. Even Aiden called to check on me.

Aiden thought it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. If my relationship with Levi was exposed, it would actually solidify our relationship, and anyway, it was Jessa who did this.

But I didn't want to go public.

My relationship with Levi was lukewarm to begin with. Maybe he was just angry with Jessa for the moment, and once they made up, I'd be the fool.

As long as our relationship stayed private, even if we broke up, no one would know about our past, and I wouldn't get caught up in any gossip.

I was used to staying under the radar. Having that balance suddenly disrupted felt really uncomfortable.

I was distracted all afternoon, occasionally refreshing my browser to see the big story about Levi and me still trending. As the person involved, I felt no joy about it.

When Nola came in, I had fallen asleep. I woke up immediately when I heard her voice.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

Nola sat down. "I just checked - all the trending topics are gone."

"What?"

Gone after just a nap?

Nola gave a thumbs up. "I have to say, the Morgan Group's PR ability is really something."

I could figure out with my toes that it must have been Levi who suppressed the trending topics. To control the information to zero in such a short time, only he could do that.

"That's good then."

I felt a bit more at ease.

Nola's eyes widened. "Good? Blair, don't you feel cheated?"

"Why would I?"

"Because this was a perfect opportunity! If he had taken advantage of the situation to announce that you're his legitimate wife, wouldn't that be much simpler than suppressing trending topics?"

"But the result might not be the best."

I had imagined Levi making our relationship public, but he'd previously had those rumors with Jessa. He never responded back then, leaving plenty of room for speculation. If he revealed our relationship now, it would definitely hurt Levi's reputation.

Even though their situation really hurt me, from Celestia's perspective, considering our six years together and my feelings for him, I didn't want to do anything that would harm him.

"I think you're too confused to think straight. Are you really willing to be the woman behind him forever?"

Nola pressed on, "Did Levi break things off with Jessa? Otherwise, why would she go crazy looking for you?"

"You figured it out?"

"I guessed right?"

Seeing Nola's disbelieving look, I felt uncomfortable too.

"Yeah."

Nola exclaimed, "This is unbelievable."

"Probably because her mother, Arabella, came to the hospital that day to make a scene. Celestia got pushed and injured trying to protect me, and that's what made him finally decide."

"Celestia got hurt?"

Nola looked at me with concern. "Blair, what have you been going through? Why didn't you tell me? I could have at least helped you somehow."

"He's been handling all this. After he told Jessa that day that their fate had ended, he disappeared."

"Oh my god, what kind of drama is this? I'm not laughing at you, but seriously, all this stuff with you guys is really too..."

"Bizarre, right?"

I forced out a bitter smile. Celestia's injury had earned Levi's determination, but in my eyes, I didn't care about his attitude anymore. Celestia had brought pain to her daughter.

"Since their relationship fell apart and he doesn't want to divorce you, he shouldn't have bothered with the trending topics. He should have made your relationship public. That would give you security."

I shook my head. "On the contrary, I actually think this is his way of protecting me."

"What?"

Nola didn't understand my point.

"When Jessa had those rumors with him, he didn't respond. If he responds now, people will think he was playing with Jessa's feelings."

"Plus, our company has already been screwed over by Jessa once. We're developing new products, and Jessa's causing trouble will definitely have negative effects. It's not smart to make the company bear the pressure because of me."

I rubbed my temples, which were throbbing.

"I'm already being gossiped about at the company. Everyone was there today, and even though some PR work has been done, it's not airtight."

"I'm worried that because of me, people will question you. Everyone probably thinks I got in through connections."

Nola smiled. "That's easy to fix. I'll make the company's equity structure a bit more transparent, and everyone will know you're the absolute controlling shareholder of this company."

"You're the legal representative of the company right now, and that can't change. We'll go public after we've completely optimized the company team."

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

I looked at her seriously. "Nola, the company has been unstable lately and needs strengthening in all areas. I trust your work ability, but I'm asking you to put in extra effort."

"Blair, I know where my problems are. We're good friends, no need to hide things. If there are problems, we'll solve them together."

"Okay."

My phone vibrated. It was Levi calling.

When Nola saw it, she got up to leave, but I held her back, indicating she didn't need to avoid it.

"Hello?"

"I'm sending someone to pick you up from your company. Come home, we need to talk."

"Oh."

After hanging up, I felt confused.

Nola asked me, "Is there a problem?"

"No, he said he's sending a driver to pick me up and wants me to come home."

"Well, that's pretty thoughtful of him. If you drove yourself, Jessa might have sent people to block you. I was planning to drive you today, but it looks like you don't need me now."

I was really grateful to them for being so thoughtful. I hadn't thought that far ahead at all.

"I'll head home first, then. Left early again today."

Nola spread her hands. "Don't worry about that now. The priority is getting home safely. Also, lay low for a while. That woman Jessa has gone crazy - I'm afraid she'll hurt you."

"I'll be careful."

I gathered my things and left the office. As soon as I got outside the company, Levi's driver walked over with several bodyguards behind him.

"Mrs. Morgan, please get in the car."

I made a shushing gesture at him. If someone else heard, Levi would have to deal with more rumors.

The driver immediately understood and quietly opened the car door for me.

I looked around - no suspicious people. Levi had probably handled everything very securely, so no one should be taking secret photos anymore.

If Levi had chosen to make our relationship public, things would probably be exploding right now, affecting us and both companies in all sorts of ways.

Perhaps this was Levi's way of protecting me. That's how I understood it anyway.

I sent Nola a message telling her I was on my way home, very safe, no need to worry.

Levi wanted me to come home to talk. I didn't know what was waiting for me. He rarely took the initiative to talk to me...

Where had he been these past few days? If Jessa caused more trouble, what should I do?
