Chapter 63

Chapter 63

I never thought there would come a day when Levi would actually give up on Jessa.

Two days had passed, and I hadn't seen any sign of Levi.

He wasn't at home, wasn't at the office, hadn't gone to the Morgan mansion to see Celestia—it was like he'd vanished into thin air. I had Indigo try to contact him, but there was no response.

Maybe Levi had really made up his mind. He needed to find a quiet place to calm down, or maybe he had business to handle and went on a trip—there was no way to know.

There were lots of things waiting for me to handle at the company. I couldn't keep letting Nola face everything alone.

So I couldn't help but go back to the office.

As soon as I arrived, I learned they were in a meeting. Nola gave me special permission to join, and maybe some people were already guessing my identity.

Even as Nola's good friend, someone at a secretary's level shouldn't be getting the same treatment as Nola.

Nola protecting me at every turn was bound to raise suspicions.

I wasn't ready to reveal my identity yet. I just wanted to work step by step—this calm, uneventful life gave me a sense of security.

"If no one has any objections, let's adjourn."

Nola announced the end of the meeting. We'd finalized the design plan—we couldn't delay any longer, or Heartstrings Jewelry's development would become difficult.

Only the two of us were left in the conference room. We gathered our folders and prepared to get to work on our own tasks.

"Blair, there's basically nothing major happening at the company lately. You just got out of the hospital not long ago, and Celestia got hurt, too. Why don't you rest? I can handle it."

Nola was considerate of my difficulties. She knew that when it came to Celestia, nothing else mattered to me.

"Celestia went to the Morgan mansion to recover. There's nothing much going on at home, and I can actually get things done at the company. I'm fine now."

"You don't look well, though. How about I go with you to the hospital for another checkup?"

We chatted as we walked. Just as we were about to reach the office, Jessa suddenly rushed out and started cursing at me.

"Blair, do you think you've won? What are you plotting? You won't let Levi see me—tell me where he is!"

I hadn't expected her to make a scene at the company. She'd caused trouble before when she wanted to work with me, and people already had opinions about us.

Later, when she plagiarized us, it made the company employees talk.

Today, she suddenly showed up asking about Levi's whereabouts, which instantly set off everyone's gossip.

"The Levi she's talking about—that couldn't be Mr. Levi Morgan from the Morgan Group, could it?"

"Who else could it be? Mr. Morgan invested a fortune to sponsor her concert tour. Why would she come to our company looking for Blair, a secretary?"

"It is strange. What connection could Blair have with Mr. Morgan?"

Everyone was talking over each other, and my mind was in chaos listening to them.

"Security, escort her out!"

Nola stood in front of me. She couldn't let Jessa hurt me.

"Don't interfere. I brought reporters with me. If you touch me, I'll have them expose you."

Suddenly, those disguised reporters all pulled out their cameras and started frantically photographing me. The flashing lights made it impossible to keep my eyes open properly.

Nola pulled me into her arms. "Don't worry. We live in a society with laws. I can handle this."

"The company's security system needs updating, too. Maybe you should thank her for helping us find the problem."

"This is not the time to talk about that."

Nola was actually panicking too. She'd dealt with Jessa before, and with reporters filming, who knew what kind of news they'd make up.

"Blair, tell me where Levi is, and I'll leave right away." Jessa continued threatening me.

I had no idea where Levi was, and staying silent seemed like the best option right now to avoid giving the reporters material to twist.

"Cat got your tongue? Are you going to tell me or not!"

Jessa was acting like she'd lost her mind.

Nola scolded, "Everyone disperse. Stop watching the drama."

"And you reporters, you broke into my company without permission—you'll be held responsible."

"Don't listen to her nonsense. With me here, don't be afraid."

Jessa looked ready to go down fighting.

I knew that to untie the bell, you need the person who tied it. She was targeting me, and no matter what Nola did, she'd be reckless.

"I don't know where he is. He has no reason to tell me his whereabouts."

"Blair, what are you pretending for? You're his wife, and you don't know where he is?"

The people around instantly dove into gossip mode...

"Blair is Mr. Morgan's wife?"

"I heard before that when she worked at the Morgan Group, she was Mr. Morgan's secretary. I told you guys, but you didn't believe me..."

"This is unbelievable. Mr. Morgan's wife is working as a junior secretary at our company?"

"Maybe she's the hidden big boss behind the scenes..."

All kinds of rumors made me anxious. I'd never wanted to reveal that I was Mrs. Morgan.

All these years, Levi had kept the information tightly sealed. Except for his own family, no one knew about this.

Jessa was really terrible. It seemed Levi had really broken things off with her; otherwise, she wouldn't have exposed this to the media or come to the company to make a scene with me.

"Can't you understand plain language? Everyone, get back to work. Anyone who keeps gossiping, I'll fire them right now!"

Nola felt the situation was getting out of control. The reporters were Jessa's people, and the fact that I was Mrs. Morgan probably couldn't be hidden anymore.

The employees gradually returned to their posts, but they were still talking.

"Blair, stop playing dumb. Call Levi right now and tell him I want to see him, or I'll let the whole world know about you two."

"We're legal and legitimate. It's not like we can't be seen."

I really couldn't reach Levi. Otherwise, I wouldn't be so passive. To deal with her, Levi would be the most effective solution.

"Don't show off to me. Levi is just temporarily fooled by you. What makes you think you can compete with me? If Levi cared about you, why would he hide your identity all these years?"

"Do whatever you want."

I wanted to escape. I didn't want to be photographed.

"All of you leave. What are you filming? If you don't leave, I'm calling the police." Nola chased them while backing up, sending me back to the office.

Jessa chased after us a few steps but was pushed away by Nola.

"Blair, you're such a coward!"

Nola helped me close the office door. I leaned against it, my heart beating fast.

What should I do?

If everyone found out about my relationship with Levi, what would happen? Would Levi publicly acknowledge it?

If the media harassed me to dig out the truth, how should I deal with it?

I wasn't afraid to confront Jessa directly. I was afraid she'd use the media to disrupt my life.

The fact that I'm Mrs. Morgan is already set in stone.

I absentmindedly returned to my seat and opened my phone. A news article about Levi and me popped up on the webpage—that was incredibly fast.

I didn't even know where Levi was right now. If I let them make up news stories, would the Morgan Group be affected? Would Heartstrings Jewelry get dragged into it?

Jessa was really like a mad dog. I never expected she'd recklessly expose this. Didn't she want to get back together with Levi anymore?
