Chapter 47

Chapter 47

Shortly after I left them, I got a call from Aiden.

He said there was a particularly important document that he needed me to pick up for Levi.

The butler could have delivered it, but I guessed Aiden was trying to bring Levi and me together by having me go.

It was a confidential document with nothing written on the outside.

Aiden trusted me completely. I had always been the one handling important documents for the family before.

And Levi had never doubted my ability in this regard either.

I had lunch at the Morgan mansion. Rhea kept criticizing Levi, and when she heard that the Greer family was back, she was really angry, too.

The two elders said they would always be on my side. I was deeply moved, so I didn't tell them about my plan to divorce.

I couldn't let them worry about me. This was between Levi and me.

Familiar streets, familiar roads. I parked in my usual corner spot out of habit.

I took a deep breath, worried I'd run into old colleagues again. Some of them probably still thought I was on vacation. The company even paid me on time last month.

When I passed the break room, I made Levi a cup of coffee.

He had a habit of drinking coffee in the afternoon.

I knocked twice.

"Come in."

I pushed open his office door. I'd done this so many times before. When I used to work for him, I often came here to handle small tasks.

"You're here."

Levi looked up, and seeing it was me, he actually greeted me first.

He used to never acknowledge me at all. I was always the one who had to speak up first.

"Yeah."

I put the document on his desk first. "Grandpa asked me to bring this to you."

Then I brought over the coffee. Levi reached for it, and we accidentally spilled it. The hot coffee ran down my hand into my sleeve...

I couldn't help it and let out a cry, biting my lip.

"Did you get burned? Quick, go rinse it off."

Levi helped me into his private lounge.

I knew his office was connected to a lounge, but I'd never been inside before.

The place was fully furnished, practically like a home.

Maybe during those early days of our marriage, when he didn't want to come home, he stayed here.

"I have a white shirt here. If you're not in a hurry to leave, you can change into it and switch back when yours is dry."

Levi was being very thoughtful, though my clothes just looked bad now, but were still wearable.

"No need, I'll deal with it when I get home."

"There's no one else here, or I can have someone go buy you an outfit."

This was the first time I'd seen Levi being so considerate, but who would he send to buy clothes, women's clothes at that?

"Mr. Morgan, that wouldn't be appropriate. They don't know about our relationship. You'll end up with rumors about you."

Levi stared at me blankly. He probably didn't expect me to say that.

Even though we were actually married, no one here knew except the two of us.

And I said it on purpose. I wanted to see if Levi would dare or not.

"Are you afraid?"

Levi suddenly asked back.

"Yes."

I pushed him out. "I'll just rinse it off. You go out first."

Watching his figure outside the door, my heart suddenly started racing. I wasn't afraid of public judgment. I was just afraid that if our relationship became public in an unhealthy way, it wouldn't be good for either of us.

I already had issues with him and Jessa. I hoped that even if we divorced, it would be clean and simple, not tangled up in rumors.

Looking at it this way, I was pretty complicated too.

I changed into a Levi's shirt. I wasn't going to interfere with his work anyway, so I could rest for a bit.

Just as I was washing my sleeve, I heard someone talking outside.

It sounded like Jessa was here...

"Levi, I brought you coffee from that place we went to today."

Jessa took it out of her bag and handed it to Levi.

I held the clothes, rubbing them while opening the door just a crack.

"Levi, why did your coffee spill?"

"Yeah."

Levi calmly cleaned up the liquid on the desk.

"Let me help."

Jessa wanted to help clean up. She had just picked up the document on the desk when Levi snapped at her.

"Don't touch it!"

She was so startled that she quickly let go of the document, her whole body freezing.

I never thought Levi would be so harsh with Jessa, too. I thought he was only cold to me.

"Levi, do you not like me anymore? Don't you want to divorce her anymore? How much longer do you want me to wait?"

The clothes in my hands suddenly slipped. I heard Jessa's words and lost control.

Jessa's ears were sharp. She immediately looked in my direction.

"Levi, are you hiding someone in your office?"

I closed my eyes. My heart was pounding. Even though I hadn't done anything wrong, I got nervous just hearing those questions...

Jessa rushed toward the lounge, and before I could back away, she and the door hit me together.

"Ah!"

I held back the pain and didn't make a sound, but Jessa screamed.

Levi followed and saw me messily holding onto the wall.

"What are you doing here? Levi, you two..."

I looked up and straightened my clothes.

"Is it so strange that I'm here?"

I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly felt indignant. Levi was clearly my husband, yet now it seemed like Jessa was the one demanding answers.

"No, that's not... Levi..."

Jessa took two steps back. She stared at Levi, wanting an explanation.

I saw that Levi wasn't planning to say anything, so I spoke first.

"You don't need to be so shocked. You know what Levi and I are to each other. It's normal for us to have something going on, though nothing actually happened."

"Also, I hope you'll stop coming to the company and bothering him. I don't care about your rumors with him, but don't affect my normal life."

"And from today on, stay out of my sight. If you don't interfere with my family and don't hurt my child, I can let it go."

"Finally, we're all adults here. If you have something to say, just say it directly. Don't beat around the bush. You two are already so obvious about it, you don't need to hide it from me. I'm waiting for you both to talk to me officially."

I said everything I was thinking. In that moment, I felt so relieved.

The three of us dragging this out was pointless. Right now, if Levi would just be clear about his feelings, I could accept it.

But there was silence, the same old silence.

I slammed the door shut, changed out of Levi's shirt, and put my still-damp clothes back on. I didn't want to stay here one more second.

"Levi, you know how I feel about you. I don't want to wait anymore. Tell me, what exactly do you want..."

Jessa couldn't help but press Levi for an answer.

But who really knew what Levi wanted? I thought he didn't want me, but he hadn't let me go either...
