"Of course!"
Louis answered without hesitation.
"As a doctor, I can tell you responsibly that someone who's drunk to the point of being unconscious can't get an erection!"
Louis had wanted to call James out on it—using drunkenness as an excuse was just shameless.
But seeing James's serious expression, he immediately became serious too. "James, are you saying... you really were that drunk that night?"
"Yes!"
James nodded!
It was because the test came back negative, and he suddenly remembered what Louis said last night, that the thought occurred to him—maybe nothing had happened.
"How drunk were you?"
"Completely out of it."
After saying this, James suddenly stood up. "Let me get a video to show you."
He grabbed his laptop from the coffee table in the living room.
He turned it on, pulled up the Luxe Hideaway surveillance footage from that night, and played it for Louis to see clearly what state he'd been in.
"You were like this the whole time? When you got to Amelia's place, you never sobered up?"
Louis watched the video. Given how drunk James was in the footage, there was no way he could have had any physical response.
"No!"
He didn't even remember how he got in the car, let alone how he got to Amelia's place.
As for what happened after that, he had no memory at all.
"Then how did you know for sure that you and Amelia had sex?"
Even though James had only been with Mia, after four years together, wouldn't he be able to tell whether something happened or not?
Wasn't this contradictory?
"When I woke up, there were signs that we'd done it."
Not just the hickeys on his body that Mia discovered, which completely broke her.
There were also tissues scattered all over the floor by the bed and marks on his legs—all proving that he and Amelia really had been together.
Because of all this, he'd never doubted what happened that night.
Until just now, when he remembered what Louis said last night, a tiny flame of hope suddenly sparked in his heart.
"Is it possible that the evidence that made you believe it happened was deliberately staged by Amelia?"
They'd all known each other since childhood. He knew very well that Amelia was the type who'd stop at nothing to get what she wanted.
He was certain that if James had been in the state shown in the Luxe Hideaway surveillance the whole time, there was absolutely no way anything could have happened with Amelia.
If nothing could have happened, then the evidence that made James believe it did was very likely faked by her.
James suddenly stood up. "Come with me to Silver Oak Manor."
Even knowing the chances were slim, he still felt a glimmer of hope.
What if?
If this "what if" turned out to be true, the biggest obstacle between him and Mia would be resolved.
He and Mia could get back together right away.
Mia would be his alone again.
"Okay."
Louis stood up too.
After quickly washing up and changing clothes, the two left James's place and drove to the complex where Amelia used to live.
Half an hour later, they appeared in the complex's security office.
The complex backed up surveillance footage every month.
James sat in the security office and had the person in charge pull up the footage from the entrance and the elevator in Amelia's building from that day.
With an approximate time frame, they quickly found the footage from that day.
Amelia opened the car door trying to help James out, but he was too far gone, lying motionless in the passenger seat.
Amelia leaned in, clearly calling to him for a while, but couldn't wake him up.
Only then did she walk to the security office and get a tall, burly security guard to help.
Even he alone couldn't pull James out.
He called another person over—one got in the car, one stood outside.
Together they managed to get James out of the car.
After getting out, James couldn't stand on his own and had to be dragged in by both men.
Louis looked at James looking like a "corpse."
If before there had been even a 0.1% doubt about James's claim of being "completely out of it," he now 100% believed that James truly couldn't have gotten an erection.
Their eyes met in midair.
The small flame of hope in James's heart grew noticeably larger because of the surveillance footage.
The footage continued. The two men helped him into the elevator, then to Amelia's place. Soon, both security guards came out one after the other, and the door closed behind them.
Once the door closed, whatever happened inside was unknown to them.
Although, judging by James's state when entering, drunk to that degree, it was impossible for him to do anything.
But this couldn't prove that he really hadn't done anything with Amelia.
Mia wouldn't believe it either.
The flame in James's heart that had just grown larger slowly shrank back to a tiny flicker.
He didn't turn off the surveillance, unwilling to give up.
He just stared at the monitor, wanting to see if any other men came or went.
Louis didn't rush him, staying with him to continue watching.
It was already very late that day, and very few people used the elevator.
They watched for about another half hour or so.
A somewhat familiar figure appeared again at the entrance to Amelia's building—it was one of the security guards who'd helped him upstairs.
James didn't pay attention at first, thinking it was just routine security patrol.
But then he saw that the burly guard didn't take the stairs, but got in the elevator instead.
And he pressed the button for Amelia's floor.
James's pupils contracted. His eyes locked onto the screen, not missing a single frame.
He watched the elevator arrive, the door open, and the guard walk out and ring Amelia's doorbell.
The door opened, and Amelia appeared at the entrance wearing a sexy nightgown.
Louis glanced at what Amelia was wearing in the surveillance footage and her expression—she might as well have had "seduction" written on her face.
The moment she appeared, the burly guard's eyes went straight.
He tried to control himself, but his eyes seemed glued to her barely-concealed chest.
Louis looked at Amelia from a purely male perspective—her face and figure were what most men couldn't resist.
Clearly, this security guard was one of those men.
For people of their class, it was hard to come into contact with women like Amelia.
It wasn't strange that the guard lusted after Amelia.
What was strange was Amelia herself.
She'd always thought highly of herself.
If a security guard dared to look at her like that, to the high-and-mighty Amelia, it would be an insult, and she'd definitely slap him across the face.

But Amelia did nothing, letting the guard stare at her chest with his eyes.
