DOMINIC
Tia has to be a part of my life. I wanted her and her alone. `No want wasn't the right word. I needed her. I feel good when I'm with her; she makes me feel happy just thinking about her.
I would give her some time, even though it would kill me to stay away. I will; she'll come to me when she's ready, even if I have to wait for the rest of my life. I will have her. There is one other possible solution to this. If she isn't my employee, then she won't have any reason to say no. I knew exactly what I needed to do.
Tia
I didn't want to hear anything. I was disgusted and disappointed with myself for allowing that to happen all over again. I got to the parking garage, got in my car, and drove home. That night, I laid in bed feeling miserable. Until I started to bawl my eyes out, I ended up calling Mel. When she came over, I was still crying.
"Tia, what happened?”. I told her the whole sordid story of him cornering me.
“Then why are you crying?"
“Because believe it or not, I actually like the bastard.”.
“I'm sorry, babe, but technically he didn't lie; I mean, you didn't ask him.”. She was kind of right, but I didn't want to hear that.
“Whose side are you on?”
“Come on, babe, is he the reason you've been so happy lately?”
“Yes ”
"So, what are you going to do?” ,
"Well, I'm not giving up my job, that's for sure; I'll avoid him. I've told him to stay away from me, and I meant it.”.
"Well, you can only wait and see what happens; you need to go out on a date and meet someone else."
“I think you're right."
We stayed up most of the night eating junk food and watching TV. Mel has always been my rock and my support, especially when we're going through breakups. I wouldn't go to work. After Mel left around seven, I called my office.
"CChase Enterprise, Marketing Department Miss Sommers office, good morning. How can I help you?”.
Wow, that was a lot.
“Morning Tatiana,"
“Oh morning, Tia,"
“I won't be coming in today; I don't feel too well.”.
“Um, today may be a bad day for you to take off; we need you.”
“What's going on?”
“Well, you have a meeting with Mr. Chase. A memo came down, and they want you to handle a company takeover."
What the hell? That isn't my job or even my job requirements.
“ Tatiana I think there has been a mixx-up
“I thought so too because it came from Alissa's office, so I spoke to Mr. Chase, and he said it was correct. Also, Mr. Chase sent about forty projects down that need to be finished and finalized by the end of the month. ”
This was her doing or either his; they deserve each other. I wasn't backing down. This is my job. I've worked my ass off to get here, and I'll be damned to hell if I let Chase and his Bitch run me out.
“Okay, I'll be there. Can you go ahead and set all the papers in order?”.
“I will, oh, and someone sent you a bouquet.”. “Okay, I'll be there soon.”.
Why couldn't I have a normal life? I picked up the phone and called my mom. But she didn't answer because she was probably at school. She was a teacher; she loved her job and always told me to love your job or it was no use doing something your heart wasn't into.
I grabbed a shower and went to work. I didn't bother to try hiding my eyes. I got into the elevator, and just before the doors closed, he walked in, and behind him was his fiance. The anger and hatred I felt for both of them in that second didn't surprise me; he was a bastard and deceitful. I didn't look at him, but I could feel him staring.
"Oh, new girl, have you been crying? Your eyes are red and swollenn.".
I just ignored her.
“Miss Sommers, are you ready for the meeting? I hope you have the necessary documents in order to handle the Greystone project.”.
I didn't want to answer, but he was still my boss.
"II can assure you that my team and I are fully prepared and all necessary documents are ready, Mr. Chase.”.
He didn't reply. I could feel his gaze burning into me.
“Dominic, can we go shopping later today?” , "Alissa, why are you here?” ,
"Well, my fiancee is here, plus I work here, and the morning sickness is a bit too much for me.”.
She was pregnant. Will this bastard's lying never end? The minute the elevator stopped, I walked out.
“Good morning, Tia,"
“Good morning, Tatiana."
“Are you okay? Your eyes..."
“Oh yeah, my allergies. I already took my medicine; they'll probably return to normal in an hour or so.”.
"Oh, okay.”
I went into my office and started making sure I had all the documents. I called my team, and we looked over the projects sent to us.
“This is bullshit. Sorry, Tia, I don't understand how they think it's possible that we can finish all this in twenty-five days,” Chris said.
“I think we're being punished." Ryan said
This was my fault; I'm the reason this happened. I didn't want them to hate me for making their lives miserable. Ryan was right; they were being punished.
“Okay, here's what we do: we divide into groups. If everyone handles a single project, it'll be too overwhelming and stressful. One group will be in charge of research, another testing, another printing, and so forth. Tatiana, you understand all this, right?”. I asked, looking at her.
“Um, yes,“ she answered sheepishly.
“Good, you're about to become more than my secretary; write your application and give it to me. You've been here long enough.”.
“Finally, we've been waiting for someone to see Tatiana's potential," Marcy said.
“And your secretary?” she asked
“I'll take my calls myself between me and you. We'll handle it, Tatiana. Don't worry? Let's get started, everyone. We'll use the conference room as it's bigger. I'll join you guys in a few minutes.”.
Tatiana came over to me and hugged me.
“What was that for?”
“I've tried to apply, but Alissa always shuts down my efforts. I enjoy being a secretary, but I can do so much more. Thank you for this opportunity. I won't disappoint or let you down.”.
“I know you won't, Tatiana.”.
They went into the conference room and started. I went back to my office to get some documents. I was deep in concentration when my phone vibrated. That's weird; I didn't know the number to which they sent a message.
“Are you okay? I'm sorry if I hurt you. I'm sorry if I'm the one that made you cry. You don't have to talk to me. Just tell me you're okay; that's all, please, Tia. Do you know how I feel every tim you see me but won't look at me? I'm desperate here. Please tell me you're okay.”
Why does he even care? I was just a fuck; that's all a really good fuck. I considered replying, but then I remembered she's pregnant, so I did the only thing I could to keep my sanity. I blocked his number.
“Oh Tia I forgot, here are your roses.”. She walked in with a huge bouquet of multi-colored roses, placed them on my desk, and left. I pulled the note out from the top.
“I'm sorry, and I miss you.”
D
I threw the flowers in the trash. That means nothing to me. We got busy until it was one thirty, and I headed up to the conference room. When I got there, another guy was there.
“And you are, I'm assuming, Miss Sommers?"
“That would be correct, but I'm not sure how to address you, Mr ..?”. ,
“Chase Bennett Chase”.
“Ahhh!"
“What was that for?"
"Well, I was unaware that Mr. Chase had a brother,"
"Wait, wait, you don't know about the Chase brothers?"
"I can't say I'm familiar”
"Oh, my wife I will have a field day with someone not knowing who I am.”.
"Well, now I do,"
“Are you okay? Your eyes?"
“Oh, my allergies I woke up looking like this: ” My back was to the door. I didn't hear him come in, but I felt him. The smile I had on my face disappeared.
“Miss Sommers, I see you've met my brother." "Yes, she has, and she is a delightful person." “Well then, gentlemen, let's begin.”.
Bennett began to explain about Jeffery Anderson and his company. I listened intently as he explained.
“So you're trying to get him to sell his building and the surrounding two lots. But why me? "This isn't my level of expertise.”.
Bennett sat back and looked at me. “Exactly, I have tried. Trust me, I have, as have my brother and father. However, Anderson won't give us the time of the day. I just think you'll be the right person for this job. If you fail, then there's nothing to lose, but if you succeed, let's say more benefits will come your way.“. He replied, smiling.
Dominic hadn't said a single word to me, but I felt his stare. I thought it over for a second.
“Very well, Mr. Chase. I'll do this; however, there are some requirements that need to be met without any hesitation, and then I'll proceed with this”.
He had a curious look on his face, but he nodded for me to continue.
"Firstly, my entire department will be involved in this project. We're a team, and we do it together.”.
“Fair enough”
“Second, Tatiana Benson needs to be an agent. She is too overqualified to be a secretary; she's been in that department for over four years. I don't need a secretary. This is one thing I won't budge on. She becomes part of my team, and I'll get you the Greystone project.“.
Dominic leaned forward and looked at me.
“How sure are you that you'll get Anderson to sell?”. I looked him dead in the eyes.
“I'm not a people-pleaser, Mr. Chase. If I want something, I go after it and don't ever stop until I attain it, and I won't allow anyone or anything to stand in my way. This is the job I've always wanted; I'm sitting here as proof.”.
Bennett started chuckling.
“ Done. Tatiana Benson is officially a part of your team. Send her resume up to my office, and I'll have it made official by the end of the work day.”.
“Thank you, Mr. Chase. I'll head back down and get to work.”.
"Okay, Ms. Sommers!”.
As I was about to leave, I stopped. It was bugging me. I knew what he was up to.
"Mr. Chase, our department received forty advertising projects that are due by the end of the month.”
“That's a lot. Who sent them down?” Bennett asked
I saw the look that crossed Dominic's face and couldn't help but smile. Game on, bastard.
“Oh, it's no problem, Mr. Chase. We'll be finished. I just wanted to say if there's any more projects, make sure to send them down, as it is me and my team; we're not quitters. Have a good day, Mr. Chase.”.
