Chapter 29 Not a wealthy son-in-law, but a toad!
"Well..."
Seeing Larry Parker, David Butler immediately became timid and looked at Michael, desperately seeking help.
If Michael could speak up for him, even if he couldn't become a tiger, he could at least pose as a paper tiger and scare this cat away.
Kidding aside, Michael was the heir of Nexus Industries. In front of Michael, Larry Parker was nothing. With just one phone call, Michael could make Larry Parker kneel down and beg for mercy.
"David, who is this person?" Zachary asked weakly.
"He's quite influential in Zenith City," David Butler honestly replied. "He's the son of Lin Xiantai, the second largest shareholder of Vanguard Realty. Their family has assets of around two billion. The key point is that he has studied Taekwondo and has a high level, so it was easy for him to trample on me."
He also wanted Michael to know about Larry Parker's background in order to help him resolve the situation. Larry Parker came aggressively, looking like he was going to hit him.
Upon hearing this, Zachary immediately became timid and hid behind Michael.
"Hahaha!!!"
Seeing this, Joshua couldn't help but laugh triumphantly. "You guys were being so arrogant just now, bullying my brother-in-law as if he were a three-year-old. How come you're scared now and hiding behind a useless person, hoping for him to help you?"
Jonathan Cooper came forward when he saw the scales tipping in their favor and said, "If you dare, continue to be as arrogant as earlier, and let me see!"
Evelyn, filled with anger, said, "Brother-in-law, you must make them kneel down and sing 'Conquer' for me."
"Ah!"
"Don't worry, cousin. Taking care of these guys is as easy as taking out the trash," Larry Parker said, gesturing with his finger towards David Butler and his group, and arrogantly said, "You guys, come at me together, let me practice."
Gurgle!
David Butler and his two companions swallowed hard.
They knew that if Larry Parker dared to challenge the three of them together, he must be quite skilled in combat.
"So, you're the son of SkyTech's second shareholder."
At this moment, Michael took a step forward and calmly said, "Out of respect for Vanguard Realty, I won't stoop to your level. So, don't act too recklessly, or you'll regret it."
He remembered that the gilded Buddha he had chosen was a gift from Vanguard Realty to the Nexus Industries.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Larry Parker immediately showed a displeased expression towards Michael. "A worthless piece of trash like you dares to talk to me like that?"
Audrey's mother, as Master Harris's youngest daughter, naturally knew that Michael was a useless son-in-law. She had mentioned it to Larry Parker before, so he was aware of his situation.
Just as Michael was about to speak, Charlotte walked over and grabbed hold of him. She said to Larry Parker, "If you want to defend Evelyn, you should first understand the whole situation.
Evelyn herself said that if Michael could afford a Pramella, he should kneel down and sing 'Conquer'. The Pramella is sitting right over there. If she keeps her word, she should kneel down, and sing 'Conquer'."
"If you don't want her to kneel down and sing 'Conquer', that's fine, we won't force you. But why do you have to abuse your power? Don't you feel cheap?" Charlotte added.
As Audrey's cousin, she naturally knew a thing or two about Larry Parker. He was quite formidable, at least Michael was no match for him, which is why she had to step in.
"But the Pramella wasn't bought by this useless guy, it was David who bought it as a way of repaying a debt for saving his life. I have a reason not to kneel down and sing 'Conquer', but they keep threatening me to do so!" Evelyn complained indignantly.
Upon hearing this, Larry Parker spread his hands out and said, "Then I have a reason to take care of them for Evelyn."
"You..."Charlotte's face tightened.
Michael grabbed her arm, signaling her not to get angry, and then looked straight at Larry Parker and said word by word, "If you want to fight them three, you have to get past me first."
Although Michael hadn't fully recovered from his injuries, these past few days, the herbal medicine brought by the capital city had greatly improved his condition. He believed that dealing with one Taekwondo practitioner wouldn't be a big problem.
"You?" Larry Parker almost burst into laughter. "I heard you would get exhausted just by dragging a mop. I can hardly believe it."
"Do you want me to teach him a lesson?"
"Yes. “Michael answered firmly.
The three of them came to deliver the car to him and save him some face. He couldn't just let them be beaten by Larry Parker.
"Fine. “Larry Parker rolled up his sleeves and sneered, "Since you're looking for trouble, I'll give it to you."
As he finished speaking, he was about to make a move.
Sophia quickly interjected, "Larry Parker, show some respect for my uncle's face. Don't stoop to this loser's level. Let my aunt scold this loser for you."
At this point, she glanced at Michael, her face suddenly turning cold, and she began berating, "You worthless piece of rubbish, who do you think you are to challenge Larry Parker? Are you even his match?"
"From now on, behave yourself. If you say one more word, get out of my house!"
She cared about her reputation. If Michael got beaten up and these people talked about it at the old master's birthday banquet, she would also become a laughingstock along with Michael.
Michael shrugged, rarely seeing his mother-in-law stand up for him. He decided not to disappoint her 'kindness'.
"Alright, Larry Parker." Audrey spoke up, "Your uncle has become a vegetable, and it's not easy for your aunt. Considering how kind Uncle has been to me in the past, show some respect for your aunt."
Larry Parker nodded, "Fine, I'll show some respect for your aunt. But your aunt better discipline that useless son-in-law of yours. He's so annoying."
"Definitely, definitely." Sophia's face changed, then she gave Michael a look for him to understand on his own.
Michael smiled and sent David Butler and the others away.
He didn't plan to reveal his identity. After all, his grandfather despised him the most. It was only out of helplessness that he was made the heir of Nexus Industries.
One day, the heir might be replaced by someone else. So, until he firmly secured the position of heir, he didn't want anyone to know that he was the heir of Nexus Industries.
Otherwise, once his identity was revealed and it reached the ears of those uncles and brothers in the Anderson family, various assassinations would follow one after another, and he was afraid of endangering Charlotte.
Around seven o'clock, almost all the guests had arrived. Joshua, Charlotte, and the other younger members of the Carter family finally entered the Marriott Hotel.
In the banquet hall, there were more than thirty tables and around three hundred guests. It was unusually lively, all gathered to celebrate Gary Wright's birthday. There were members of the Carter family, relatives, company clients, employees, and Gary Wright's old friends.
At this moment, Gary Wright was seated at the main table of a tea counter, brewing tea for some old friends and important clients. He had a smile on his face, talking and laughing, full of energy. He didn't look like a seventy-five-year-old, but more like someone in their sixties.
"Grandfather is over there, let's go and give him the gift," Audrey said, as she walked over with Larry Parker by her side.
Evelyn also walked along with Jonathan Cooper following behind.
Joshua had already noticed Michael holding a gift box and sneered, "Useless, you didn't buy a fake product for Grandfather too, did you?"
Charlotte pulled Michael towards the tea table, not bothering to argue with Joshua.
Soon, a group of younger generations arrived at the tea table.
"Grandfather, Larry Parker and I have come to celebrate your birthday, hoping that you will have this day every year and this moment every age," Audrey smiled sweetly.
"Ah, it's my granddaughter, Audrey, Larry Parker," Gary Wright was very happy. His granddaughter had made a good choice by marrying a real estate developer and even helped Wright Group with thousands of tons of goods each year.
"Yes, Grandfather," Larry Parker politely smiled and placed the gift box on the tea table, saying, "I brought a small gift for you, I hope you like it."
"I do, I do," Gary Wright happily said without even looking.
"Oh, isn't this Vanguard Realty's general manager Lin's son? How come he's Harris's grandson-in-law?" a middle-aged man across from Gary Wright exclaimed in surprise.
"You're right, Larry Parker is indeed my grandson-in-law. He married my granddaughter two years ago," Gary Wright said with a big smile.
"So, Harris's granddaughter finally married into a wealthy family," another customer said.
Gary Wright felt proud and honored to hear these comments.
Audrey also felt a sense of accomplishment and said with a smile, "Grandfather, you should open and see the gift that Larry Parker gave you."
Gary Wright agreed and, in front of everyone, opened the gift box.
In an instant, a brilliant golden light shimmered.
"Wow!"
An exclamation resounded throughout the room.
