Chapter 66
They drove to a nearby large shopping mall.
Walking into the mall, William took Ophelia straight to the household goods section.
When picking out toiletries, William was extra careful, choosing shampoo and body wash in scents Ophelia liked, along with soft towels.
"How about this toothbrush? It has soft bristles, good for your teeth." William picked up a pink toothbrush and asked.
"It's great." Ophelia said with a smile, "You really know your stuff."
"For you, I have to know." William looked at her with adoring eyes.
After buying the toiletries, they were about to leave when they passed a pajama store.
William's gaze accidentally landed on a set of pajamas in the window display, and his steps stopped.
It was a set of black silk pajamas, somewhat sexy in style, showing off tempting curves.
An image of Ophelia wearing this pajama set instantly flashed through his mind. His heartbeat involuntarily quickened, and he walked into the store without thinking and picked up the pajamas.
Ophelia followed him in. Seeing the pajamas in his hand, her eyes lit up, and she deliberately teased, "Mr. Brown, what are you doing with that? Want me to wear it for you?"
William's cheeks instantly turned red. Realizing his action was a bit abrupt, he quickly put the pajamas back, his tone somewhat unnatural: "I was just looking around."
"Just looking around?" Ophelia raised an eyebrow, walked over, and picked up the pajamas. "I think it looks pretty good, quite suitable for me. Let's buy it."
"Don't..." William was a bit embarrassed, "This is too..."
"Too what?" Ophelia looked at him with a smile, her eyes clearly teasing. "Didn't you want it just now?"
The store clerks around them watched their interaction with knowing smiles on their faces.
William coughed, but didn't stop her again: "If you want to buy it, go ahead."
Ophelia smiled and had the clerk wrap it up, thinking William was quite cute like this.
After buying the pajamas, they bought some other household items before leaving the mall with bags large and small.
They first took the things back to the villa where Ophelia was currently living. Ophelia packed a few changes of clothes and her regular skincare products into a suitcase.
"Okay, we can go now." Ophelia came out pulling her suitcase.
William took her suitcase, put it in the trunk, and then drove her to the Smith Mansion.
When they arrived at the Smith Mansion, Luca was already waiting at the door.
"Ms. Blake, Mr. Brown, you're here." Luca greeted them with a smile.
They walked into the living room where Mireille was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea.
Seeing them come in, Mireille put down her teacup: "Why are you here at this time? Is something wrong?"
William took Ophelia's hand and walked up to Mireille, his tone serious: "Grandma, Ophelia and I registered our marriage today."
"What?" Mireille froze, her eyes wide open, clearly not expecting them to be so sudden. "You registered your marriage? When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me in advance?"
Ophelia felt a bit nervous and quickly explained: "Grandma, I'm sorry. We decided on the spur of the moment and didn't have time to tell you."
Mireille's expression darkened as she looked at Ophelia: "Ophelia, come with me to the study."
Ophelia's heart jumped, knowing Mireille was going to question her privately. She turned to look at William, her eyes showing a bit of plea for help.
William patted her hand, giving her a reassuring look: "Go ahead, I'll wait here for you."
Ophelia followed Mireille into the study, her heart in turmoil.
In the study, Mireille sat in a chair, looking at Ophelia: "What's going on with you? How could you not discuss such a big thing with me in advance?"
"Grandma, I know I was wrong." Ophelia lowered her head. "William and I truly love each other. We just wanted to get married early and didn't want anything to go wrong."
"Truly love each other?" Mireille looked at her. "I'm not against you two being together, but marriage is such a big thing - you should at least tell me, right?"
"You were just recognized and brought back not long ago, and now you're rushing into marriage. What will people say? That the Smith family's daughter couldn't find anyone and was desperate to get married?"
Ophelia knew Mireille was thinking of her, and quickly said, "Grandma, I know you're looking out for me, but William and I are serious. We'll live a good life together and won't disappoint you."
Mireille looked at her and sighed: "Fine, you've already registered, so there's no point talking about this now."
"William is a good boy and cares about you. Just live a good life together from now on."
"In the future, the Brown family, learn to take care of yourself. Don't let yourself be wronged. If William dares to bully you, tell me, and I'll stand up for you."
Ophelia felt warmth in her heart, her eyes getting a bit red: "Thank you, Grandma."
"Alright, go on out." Mireille waved her hand.
Ophelia walked out of the study to see William sitting in the living room waiting for her, his eyes full of concern.
"How did it go? Did Grandma scold you?" William quickly stood up and asked.
"No, Grandma was just a bit angry that we acted first and reported later. She's not angry anymore." Ophelia smiled.
At this moment, William took out a document from his bag and walked up to Mireille: "Grandma, this is a project contract I had my lawyer prepare. The Brown Group and the Smith Group will cooperate on a new energy project, with profits distributed to the Smith Group according to proportion. Consider it my wedding gift to Ophelia."
Mireille paused, took the document and looked it over, a flash of surprise in her eyes.
She had heard about this project - a large investment with high profits. William was just handing it over like this, clearly showing his genuine feelings for Ophelia.
"That's thoughtful of you." Mireille's expression softened considerably. "Since you care so much for Ophelia, I can rest easy."
"Treat Ophelia well in the future. Don't let her be wronged, or I won't let you off."
"Don't worry, Grandma. I'll definitely take good care of Ophelia and treat her well for the rest of my life." William's tone was firm.
Mireille nodded and had Luca prepare dinner, asking them to stay for the meal.
During dinner, Mireille kept serving food to Ophelia and William. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious.
"By the way," Mireille suddenly remembered something, "when are you going to tell the Brown family?"
"We'll go over after dinner," William said. "Let them know about Ophelia and my marriage, too."
"You should." Mireille nodded. "The Brown family people are a bit snobbish, but William, you're capable, so they won't dare make things difficult for Ophelia."
After dinner, Ophelia and William said goodbye to Mireille and drove to the Brown Mansion.
